Area description
Tucson is in Southeast Arizona just 66 miles north of the Mexican Border. The city grew along the Santa Cruz and Rillito rivers, where native peoples grew corn, beans and squash since pre-historic times. This desert valley is surrounded by mountains known as "Sky Islands."

To the north, the 9,000-foot Santa Catalina Mountains feature the southernmost ski area in the United States. To the east are the Rincon Mountains, rising to the 8,644-foot summit of Mica Mountain. The highest are the Santa Rita Mountains south of the city, with Mount Wrightson reaching 9,453 feet. The lowest are the volcanic Tucson Mountains to the west; the summit is 4,687-foot Wasson Peak.

What a wonderful place to stay!

Have stayed in Tucson area with my wife and ten year old daughter at a number of other resort properties all quite nice but our stay at the Westward Look has been our most pleasant and relaxing by far. Our room was large and very comfortable with a huge walk-in shower, balcony with a nice westward view of the city and a great place to sit in the morning or evening. Also had a small fridge so we were able to make our own breakfast and keep some cold ones on hand for the sunsets! The room was quite clean and the housekeeping service did a nice job of cleaning without making it feel as though your space was being invaded. If you're looking for a glitzy room this is probably not it, but if you want a comfortable, clean, quiet well appointed "suite" you should be very pleased. There are 3 pools. They are all very nice. We spent most of our mornings at the main(larger) pool near the lodge and I used the lap pool as well. Super relaxing, stunning mountain views, mostly uncrowded even on the weekend. The hotel grounds are criss-crossed with a variety of paths, some paved some gravel and there is also access to some single track on the property which we used to run on. All is very pretty, but the grounds around the main hotel property are really nice with a huge number of desert plants being grown--very cool in full bloom. Location was nice for heading out to Sabino Canyon or up to Oro Valley. Driving into downtown not bad from here either just give yourself time. Sad to leave, but we will be back for sure!

Family Reunion Getaway

This is a beautiful Resort. Our room was large and the beds were very comfortable. The shower could have had more force to it. The in room coffeemaker was complicated and the coffee was not very good. When we went to fill our ice bucket the first machine was empty. The first 2 days when the maid came to clean she just asked us if we needed anything. She gave us some clean towels and promised she would bring us clean coffee mugs and drinking cups but did not return. They cleaned our room and finally emptied the waste baskets on the 3rd day. The woman who checked us in was not very friendly when we arrived. She had trouble printing my receipt for my credit card and gave us poor directions to our room. The grounds are lovely and most of the staff was very friendly.

We had dinner at El Corral Restaurant one night. They have fabulous Steaks and Ribs at very reasonable prices. At the far end of the parking lot is a shop with great Vintage Clothes, Jewelry ETC.

Westward Look

A first class hotel in a great location overlooking the city of Tucson. Prices are very reasonable for a resort hotel (happy hour and fairly priced meals).

Warm, pleasant and welcoming

Just a great spot for enjoying the Sonoran desert in the spring. Beautiful grounds with cactus in full bloom, very nice pools, lovely surroundings and a welcoming staff made our visit one to remember. About the only down side was the Lookout Bar & Grill; service was uneven and the food options were limited. It was OK, but just OK.

Great weekend getaway

We wanted a place to go and stay for a couple days. The resort offered reasonable dining options, great pools, enjoyable walks, and extracurricular activities (like horseback riding). We weren't crazy about the noise we could hear through the door to the adjoining room, but it was unoccupied for several of the nights we were there. Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves, and would head back without question.
