Summer Trip

The hotel is beatiful, the palm drive as you come in will instantly change you to vaction mode! The resort staff is always friendly and they greet you around every corner. We love hanging out at the pool but nothing competes with the lazy river! Sitting in your tube, basking in the sun all while sipping on a frozen drink is amazing. The long weekend stay is perfect for us and we always return home refreshed and relaxed. There are only two things that they need to improve on, the AC in the rooms does not work very well and even on high and set at 68 degrees we could not get our room to cool down at night. The other is when you order a beer at the pool the staff delivers to about 12 other patrons before getting to you, resulting in warm beer... not so refreshing at that point. Either way we love staying here and will be back for years to come.

Beautiful resort, but...

There's no doubt that the resort is beautiful. But all the little things that happened during our stay ruined our perception. When you pay $12 for a drink, you expect there to be a little alcohol in the cup. The first night, we agreed to delay the changing of the sheets and towels to help conserve water. We were surprised that this also included not having any kind of housekeeping service including emptying the trash, making the bed, etc. The next day, we asked that housekeeping resume the day after, but even after follow-up phone calls promising that someone would be there soon, no one came to the room to clean. If this was a $80 a night hotel, I would chalk it up and move on. However, when you're paying $300 a night at what is supposed to be a "luxury resort", things like that start to chap at you a bit.

Vacation

Good experience at hotel. Golf rates were high $149.00/per player - nice course even with cart path only. Valet parking $27.00 per night or you could park in there lots and walk back to the hotel.

Great stay at a very nice resort!

Our overall stay at the Westin Kierland was very nice and I would recommend it. We were able to check-in early (around noon), but they gave us a handicap-accessible room for some reason. I asked the difference and they said mainly the bathroom, which is understandable, and I agreed. Unfortunately, the shower did not hold water very well and the next day we asked our personal concierge if we could change rooms. She was very nice and accommodating and by the next night we were in a standard king room, which was clean and spacious. Our personal concierge gave us great information regarding food, travel, and entertainment in the area as she was very helpful! The only other problem we had during our stay was the shower handle fell off, but it was quickly fixed. The bathrooms are large and the double-headed showers are great! Our golf course/mountain view was fantastic as well. The hotel lobby is very nice and clean, along with the two pool areas. A separate adults only pool that is open 24 hours is great, and the other pool included a lazy river. Personal service at both pools was fast and friendly. The bagpiper that plays nightly at dusk is a seasoned pro and takes requests. The parking lot was a little ways from the hotel, but it was not much of an issue b/c the walk was nice. Kierland Commons is close by for your higher end shopping and dining options. The golf course was in great shape and easy to get on considering the off-peak season. The hotel has a large conference center that was very nice, but you will have to accept the fact that conference attendees will usually be around in the lobby, outdoors, and the conference area. I would recommend booking horseback riding and a hot air balloon ride through the hotel if you want something nice with a discount. Also, ask the concierge for other dining options (we did not eat or drink at the hotel b/c we wanted to see the town), b/c there are lots of good local places to eat. Golf is also recommended at Troon North and Grayhawk, along with a trip to the Grand Canyon and Sedona. The hotel had great service and it lives up to the Westin brand name well!

Great Place to Visit

The hotel was beautiful. The service was excellent, but we did not eat at any of the restaurants on the premises. They were pricey. The bagpiper at 7 each night was a nice touch and different. The adult pool was great also. The concierge was extremely helpful. I object to the daily charge for the internet access. I inquired before I booked the hotel if there was a charge and was told there wasn't one. When I got there I was told the internet charge was 12.95 per day.

Beautiful Hotel, Great Stay

My husband and I stayed at the Kierland Resort for our 1 year anniversary. We were impressed with the property, the service, and the overall ambiance. The property was beautiful and within walking distance to a great shopping & dining area. The pool was also a highlight of the hotel, fun for adults and children alike. We also enjoyed the resort's commitment to engaging guests in the many activities provided throughout the day and night. It made for a perfect, relaxing getaway. There were only two things that we wished had been a bit better: the distance to downtown and the "heavenly" shower head. Though this property lists the "Heavenly Shower" as one of the special things about the room amenities, we came to find out that the shower heads had been changed to conserve water. While we were pleased with the hotels commitment to being "green", we weren't very pleased with the showers & felt that they were lacking, especially in comparison with the rest of the many amenities. Due to the resort's distance from some of the main attractions of Scottsdale, we ended up spending a lot of money on taxis and shuttles to get around and would definitely recommend renting a car to anyone staying at the resort but planning sightseeing around Scottsdale. Overall, we would definitely recommend this resort for both couples and families looking for a wonderful experience!

The nearby Kierland Commons is a great area for shopping and dining if you don't feel like spending the extra money dining at the resort. Many of the shops and stores in the Commons provide special discounts & perks to guests (upon showing your Kierland Resort room key.)

Schuster Retreat

Arrival valet was great, check in was great, got to room to find a toilet running constantly and wouldn't flush, went to call desk....phone didn't work. :( Next day went to use the iron...drip/drip/drip. :( They were all very nice. got everything fixed, but what a pain. The entire facility is beautiful. The restaurants entirely cater toward a hispanic palate, which didn't work for my wife...we didn't eat at any of the restaurants. The pools rock! I would definitely stay there again. Lots of kids at such a high end place was refreshing. The families there were all loving it.

Definitely would stay here again!

The Westin properties never disappoint and this was no exception. Great service, very nice rooms, beautiful grounds. Huge family pool with lazy river for floating in and a water slide as well as an adult pool. Nothing better than pool-side service!
