I can't see how Hilton put their name on this dump.
We checked into room 731, the door opens into a very narrow hallway. The door won't open enough to bring in the luggage cart, that is to say our door won't open enough to bring in a baby stroller. The queen bed is against the wall, meaning that you will have to climb over each other to get in and out of bed. The bath room is so small they had to install the towel rack in the shower! If I weren't sitting in this lousy room seeing it right now I wouldn't believe it. I'm not just sitting here venting online I did call HR at the consulting firm that booked it and Hilton management and have called every 45 minutes to an hour to ask if a room change was available yet. So it's not like they don't know. When I was told we were booked at the Hilton I was so happy but when I got here I could not believe it, this room is so small I had to leave almost half of our luggage in my truck. Leaving luggage in the vehicle means walking quite a ways to the parking lot and hand carrying what you need for the next day back to your room, not fun. I can't write this review from bed because wireless signal kept dropping so I had to plug in and sit at tiny desk. I am stuck here in this room for four days and since getting in and out of parking is a hassle and walking means going out in the dark old area full of homeless people and thugs, I'll be sitting in this dinky little room writing bad reviews every evening. I hope this prevents some poor sucker from booking the Hilton based on their name because I have learned first hand the Hilton name doesn't mean what it used too.

Long walk from hotel
If your company puts you into this hotel look for somewhere else to work. If you have no choice go try the food at Quedoba grill up the street it's good and clean. Just be sure to walk back before dark.

Peaceful and Quiet
I was placed in a section of the hotel that was peaceful and quiet--perfect for the weekend sabbatical I had planned! The staff at the front counter were superior in helping me from giving directions, facilitating the parking arrangements, suggesting alternatives for shipping my bags back home, to helping me to use the mail carrier to mail a bag back home to myself so I could travel as light as possible! The housecleaning crew helped me cheerfully when I needed assistance in getting a plastic bag opened (I have bad arthritis in my hands).

Shopping tip:
Short drive from hotel
It is a straight shot down the street from the hotel to the local drug store. I was able to stock up on supplies I failed to pack. WARNING! PANHANDLERS AT THE WALGREEN'S WILL STALK YOU, SO STAY AWARE IF YOU DON'T DIG THAT KIND OF INTERACTION.

Perfect Stay!
Hotel was centrally located. Very clean and staff was extremely helpful in terms of directions and places to go. Being from San Diego, we don't have access to fresh roasted green chiles and they even told us exactly where to find some! They sent us to Ranch Market on 16th and Roosevelt. We used the hotel shuttle for a free ride to meet some friends at Rosie McCaffrey's. We got to enjoy the jacuzzi and pool. We loved the size of our room and had all the necessary amenities - microwave, fridge, internet, etc... Was NOT impressed with the breakfast buffet, they had a lot of options but the quality of the food was rather low/cheap.

Macayo's Mexican restaurant is right across the street and is a favorite amongst the locals. Best place to dine (resv needed on wknd) is the Rokerij (pronounced Rockery) - 5-star excellent dining.

Unbeatable location for the price
I have stayed at this hotel many times while serving on a board for the state of Arizona. The staff is friendly and supportive. The breakfast staff is dear to me and live long friends. Room in 430 is a bit worn but comfortable. Yes, I will stay there again. It is summer in Phoenix so the rate was not too bad. There were not a lot of customers on a Sunday night, but the count was building.

Good times in Phoenix
The Hilton Gardens was close to all the activities we wanted to see- the Botanical Gardens, the Heard Museum, and the family party which bought us to Phoenix. Our only disappointment was the lack of eating facilities in the hotel. This was a holiday weekend, and the one restaurant for breakfast closed at 10:00 AM each morning. When we checked in, we were informed the restaurant was open until 11:00 AM on Saturday and Sunday.
