Coast Phoenix Sky Harbor Hotel

Good hotel near the airport. Little noisy. Clean, comfortable.

The room on the 9th floor was quiet, clean, had everything I needed. The elevator was fast. The restaurant had soon good dinners, an ordinary breakfast buffet for $13. The neighborhood was not amenable to walking, but parking in the garage was easy. The drive to the Phoenix Convention Center was quick and easy (less than 15 minutes in the morning), afternoon return drive was slower, longer.

On arrival to check in,there was no reservation. Told them it was an prepay and showed them my reservation number. Still nothing. After much haggling between employees. We were given a room. Had to turn my rental car in and was given a number to call for pickup at the airport. The number was not answered when I called. Called wife to call and tell them I needed a pickup. The shuttle passed twice without checking for passengers, The third time was picked up after waiting for over an hour.

Staff was friendly and food was good, location was ok close to airport but not the best neighborhood.

Well, at first I wasn't sure if this hotel even existed, seeing as how no one had reviewed it and even google maps didn't have the place listed. However, it was indeed located where they said it would be on the website. I had a great stay here. The pool was huge, clean, and heated (and there was even a spa). My room was spacious and all the furniture and paint looked new and relatively modern in style. The bathroom was also well kept and there was free wifi with no password needed. Oh and all the staff were super friendly, even the valet guy somehow knew to wish my boyfriend happy birthday (even though we never talked to him before). The neighborhood wasn't the best but it was super close to the airport and has it's own stop off the metro light rail which was really convenient. Despite it's proximity to the airport and metro the hotel was quiet and serene inside. My only complaints would be that there was no complimentary breakfast and the neighborhood was kind of sketch, but the food at the restaurant was good and there is a Starbucks inside. Plus a gas station and a grocery store were pretty close by.

This airport hotel had an appeal over the Aloft because it has a restaurant. Was it worth $25 more? Not even close. The staff was great; courteous and very friendly. The restaurant was, sadly, not busy and so there were items missing from the menu. What I had I enjoyed; there is someone in the kitchen doing their best. The hotel is dated, the elevator has a bad smell and the black carpets show ever fleck of dirt; it makes one feel like one is riding in a dump truck to ones room; you may check the elevator walls for a condensation problem and the carpet change would be easy. the rooms are dated; the beds are old style; you are competing with places like the ALoft they are cooler and the beds are really nice. there are improvements taking place but, for the price, I wouldn't stay there again (Manager's deal was around $125.)
