"Wicked"-ly wonderful!
I'm originally from Birmgham and went up from Mobile to see "Wicked." I knew the Tutwiller from my history with the city and was excited at being able to stay there. That excitement turned to joy from the moment the valet helped park my car (I went in the wrong drive) all the way thru the same young man handing my keys back to me the next morning. Check in was a breeze, with the young lady even calling me by name BEFORE I introduced myself. The room was beautiful and looked out over the old Birmingham library, which brought back such sweet memories as that is where my parents took me as a child and where I developed my lifelong love of literature. The bed was soft, cozy and invited me to sleep. It was a wonderful evening and if I can get that rate or better, I would definitely stay again.

Great Stay
Being on business you don't normally stay in the greatest of hotels. This was a great classy hotel. A great job was done on the restoration of an old builing, keeping its charm, but very modern inside. Good breakfast and cheerful staff. I will be happy to stay there again.

Good location, hotel OK
Positive: - good location - very nice staff - comfortable bed - breakfast included Negative: - expensive - no parking except for valet at $17 per day - small room - breakfast looked more like what I've had in motels Overall, I think it's overpriced. Good hotels in other cities offer more or at least better quality for $160 a night. There is nothing to complain really about, but it's just the minimum necessary, which doesn't justify the high price.

great stay at hampton inn tutweiler
Located conveniently off high,in downtown Birmingham, walking distance of civil rights museum and other historic atttractions. Friendly staff, small gym room but sufficient for our needs, however no pool or gift shop. 15 to 20 minutes away from 24 hour Walmart by highway. Very good trip.Free breakfast each morning.

Not happy with Tutwiler
Uncomfortable
The hotel doesn't have parking and they do NOT tell you that they only have a high priced "Vale" parking. I certainly didn't like that. I couldn't sleep on the uncomfortable bed and kept tossing and turning hours into the night.

Beautiful historic hotel
My daughter, her friend and I stayed at the Tutwiler because we were attending a conference at the nearby BJCC. We were pleasantly surprised at the luxury of the room for the price. The beds were super comfortable and the complimentary breakfast buffet had a good variety. We would have loved to have stayed longer!

wow! this is a hampton?
I must admit that I was worried about an older hotel. I also usually dont stay at hampton due to past experiences. However, from the moment I pulled in the drive I was totally wowed!!!! It was an amazing experience. This is an older hotel but its super clean. The bar and restaurant were fantastic and the room was huge and totally updated. To put it this way, i never put in travel comments but this was so great i just had to say something.

Nightlife tip:
Short walk from hotel
Downtown Birmingham is not the best place to be roaming around at night. There are several places to go but i'd suggest having them take you there in the hotel shuttle which they did at no charge.

Wonderful experience in historic hotel
We had a wonderful suite that was very comfortable with refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Had a sleeper sofa and very very comfortable 2 queen beds. There were flat screen TVs in both the bedroom and sitting rooms. Full breakfast each morning. Room service was excellent. Staff friendly and valet service great. Would stay here again anytime.

Entertainment tip:
Short walk from hotel
There are two theaters within a short walking distance, The Alabama Theater and the Red Mountain Cabaret Theater. Productions were excellent.
