One night only

I picked the DoubleTree because a friend of mine told me it was closest to the Birmingham social scene. 5 points is just a short walk away which is nice but the hotel can best be described as average. Also, if you put the address into your GPS, it takes you to the ghetto, not the hotel.

DoubleTree 7/16

I stayed overnight as I was moving out of my nearby apartment. It was a pleasant stay, but not particularly remarkable. I did enjoy the warm cookies at check-in.

Sitar is a better than average and reasonably priced Indian restaurant just across 20th Street South.

Very Enjoyable!

Very comfortable room with several amenities. Very clean rooms as well, and friendly staff. I had an important event the next day, and this place allowed me to get the rest I needed. The only downside was that it was hard to find an easy place to eat food nearby (however, there is a Subway right across the street). I would stay here again myself the next time I am in town.

very clean

Was there for class at UAB, had to pay for internet, and $10 a DAY for parking. Also no fridge or microwave. Location to UAB is within walking distance, and you get a free cookie.

Be ready to walk for your food, because its very hard to find parking and if you do find a parking spot you will have to pay to park.

Great hotel for the price

When we arrived the ac was not working in our room, but the staff quickly sent maintenance and replaced the unit. Later in the night the new unit went out. Once again, the staff quickly resolved the problem by moving us to a new room. While it was a small inconvenience to have to move in the middle of the night, problems happen and the staff at the Doubletree did everything they could to resolve the situation in a prompt and professional manner. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The location is conveniently located to the 5 Points area that offers several dining options. We will definitely consider returning.
