The Cumberland Hotel

Very simple hotel that was clean, nice and very centrally located. A solid deal in London.

good value for money without missing anything. (as a recommendation, they could change their showers with flexible hoses). otherwise no problems, good wi-fi access all around. extremely helpful and considerate staff.

My one complaint is with breakfast. Normal Price is £18.95 , which is expensive unless you are getting something special , and you are not. They do a special voucher which they give you at check-in for £11.95 . This appears to be somewhat random. I was offered the voucher once and had to ask for the vouchers the other two times. My complaint about breakfast , sis that for something that they want to charge £18.95 , it just is not that special. They have all the facilities and correct ingredients , but cannot execute.

Like many Road Warriors , the amount of time you spend in your hotel is very small relative to over all cost. There are some things that are very important to make that time worth the investment in my opinion, 1) Good Bed 2) Good Shower 3) Free/Reasonable WIFI 4) Good Breakfast. The Cumberland scores well in all of the above except breakfast . They have a great layout and variety, but the hot breakfast was very disappointing . Other than that great hotel

Great location, w/ready access to Tube and just a short cab ride from Paddington. Friendly, helpful staff. Room was comfortable and clean. Will definitely stay here again.

I was on Business, giving an award at another hotel. The reception was highly efficient & pleasant and upgraded me to the executive wing where the rooms are bigger. The room was a good size double, clean, modern & quiet. The hotel is seconds from the tube and right on the main shopping street. I didn't take the breakfast but that was discounted too. The hotel feels classy and is. Excellent value at the price I paid.

I stayed at this hotel while on business and found it to be conveniently located for all my business meetings, surrounded by all the necessary amenities and the service was very good.

Stayed two nights in the Jimi Hendrix suite, which was absolutely fabulous. Hendrix was a big inspiration, and this was his room when he passed away at his girlfriends flat. Most staff was exceptional, however a couple of girls at reception were a little difficult when changing rooms. Overall great.

since I traveled often for business on my last job, I remembered the affordability of the Cumberland Hotel. It has a spacious ,trendy lobby with a pleasant,somewhat uniformed staff.[...] when we arrived at the hotel--there were no bellman around(which acually made the cab driver infuriated). My boss and I hauled our own bags throuhout the hotel and when we arraived at the reception desk, the information the staff printed was incorrect.Luckily I printed a copy of our bookings ,as they were confirmed ,even though they had the wrong information. It wasn't untill I produced those documents that the desk clerk made an effort to speak with his manager, before we we checked in.The rooms was clean and neat (small) but very comfortable.I have noticed that on my last stays , the concierge staff seems to feel they are doing me a favor,if iI ask for something.Overall, this stay wasn't as good as previous ones--but everyone is allowed a bad day.Since working out is essential when one travels, i feel that there fitness area needs improvement--i.e. more benches, more varied weights and better cardio machines.

The hotel lobby is very nice and unique. The restaurant food is very good and reasonable. Unfortunately, I have to wait 1 hour for checked-in. They couldn't find the reservation from Orbitz.The room, the hallway and the carpet are so dirty.They don't have enough time to do room cleaning daily. I make a phone call, and the hotel charged me GBP 10 per minute. I never have this expensive charge in other hotels in UK. This will be my first and last to stay at this hotel.
