Smoky hotel
I was given a smoking room when I had clearly booked a non smoking room Check in staff blamed booking agents but it was clear on the booking form. Eventually given a room that did not reek of cigarettes, but just above loading area to the hotel so very noisy. There is a charge to use the gym which just added to the negative feel. I will avoid in future.

Good value for the price
My daughters, ages 28 and 25, and I went to visit London to learn about British history, visit the tourist spots, etc. We chose the Holiday Inn since it was the only hotel that pictured two double beds. When my [...] travel information was emailed to me, it appeared that there would only be one double bed and a sofa bed for the third person. When we arrived at the hotel I explained that I saw pictures of two double beds when booking and hotel girl was very nice to accomodate us right away. Overall the hotel was very clean and service was fine. Our only complaint was that it was too far from "the tube". I knew when I booked the hotel that it was four or five blocks away, but after a day of touring/walking, the four or five blocks to get back to the hotel was a bit far. Also, we weren't sure about how safe the area was in the evening, though nothing ever happened to us. Next time, I would book a hotel closer to "the tube".

Good rooms, but bad service
The rooms were good, but I faced few issues with this hotel. First,i booked a non smoking room but got a smoking room instead. Their system says it is non smoking, but the room door says it is smoking! I had paid for the rooms thru orbitz, but they said i did not pay and was going to charge me again for the rooms! And when they gave me the final bill, they charged me for laundry which I never gave! They had a mix up and charged me instead of some other room. The hotel says there is wireless internet in rooms, but the room i stayed did not have any wireless reception. Good thing about the hotel are the rooms which are good and comfortable and a good indian restaurant in the ground floor. Also, this hotel is one of the pick up points for Stonehenge bus tours.

Can I get a wake-up call?
How hard can it be to schedule a wakup call? Well, apparently the unfriendly staff at this place was unable to do it after 3 attempts. It was a good thing that I had set my cell phone alarm or I would have missed an important meeting! The food was (breakfast buffet) was terrible and very pricy. The staff here was not friendly at all and one guy even got irritated when I asked some simple directions. Internet access also cost 12.95 pounds a day, which is a bit much for a Holiday Inn. Finally, because I booked through an internet site, they refused to issue Holiday Inn (frequent traveler)club points! I won't be coming back here any time soon. On the good side, the rooms were cleaned nicely and the location was convenient for what I had to do.

Not a pleasant stay
I realized on day 2 of our stay there was a mistake when I was told I owed for the room which I had pre-paid thru Orbitz. I asked 3 times for them to check into it & gave them copies of my p/w to NO AVAIL. On the morning of check-out I spoke to [...], the mgr and he was VERY RUDE and said they didn't have a contract with Orbitz and acted like it was my fault since it was 2 a.m. in the states and too late to call....very incompetent! The only rude people we encountered during our 2 week vacation were at the Holiday Inn-Kings Cross Bloomsbury. The rooms were plain, the bedspread was worn and it was a long walk to the tube station. However the concierge was the very helpful and competent, we loved WICKED!
