A lot to be desired!
In spite of the location, this is the second worse hotel I have stayed in in Europe. In the hotel - very small bed, only a shower in the corner of the bathroom which I had to go down 2 steps to. The carpet was not very clean & the feather quilt when the weather was 60 degrees F was too much. This hotel was definitely not up to Hilton standards. I went down for breakfast which was not included in my cost, & was there before it was scheduled to close. I asked for a second cup of coffee & was advised I'd have to go to the bar! The bar was very good, friendly & prompt service. When I asked the room maid for additional towels, she scurrried to get them. The concierge on duty, was very good at arranging a car for my return to the airport -- these were samples of the only good services I received at the hotel.

Only after checking in and going to our room did we discover that the air conditioning was not working in 80-90% of the hotel rooms. It was probably 85 degrees in the room. I called the front desk and initially was not told the air was out but that someone would check on it. After some time and no one coming or calling I went to the front desk. I was then told that the monitor indicated that the air should be working. Only when the front desk manager came back, who happened to also be the person who checked me in, did he indicate that the air was out. I questioned not being told this when I checked in and inquired about options. I was told I could try another room but there was no guarantee that the air worked. By now there were a number of other guests complaining as well including a man they had already moved and the second room was just as bad. I was then told that my partner and I could move to 2 single rooms. I expressed how unacceptable it was to not have been told and then to not have a solution that works. I/we were told that maintenance would not be back until the next day and the problem had been going on for 2 days. Lovely. I was then offered a refund for the night and I said yes, only to discover the next day that the night couldn't be refunded because I booked through a third party. So, the only solution was to become a hilton honors member or have a free night at the green park hilton. I will not stay at the green park hilton again. This hotel is supposed to be a 4 star. aside from the air issue, the shower was moldy around all of the caulk. The carpet in the hallway looked old and dingy. The carpet in the room is worn. The best though is that the dirty dishes that were in the hall by our room the night we checked in were still there when we checked out 3 nights later in addition to other dirty dishes. I expect more of a hilton and a 4 star at that. Way over priced for what you get.

AVERAGE
For a Hilton hotel stay was a little dissapointed. I would rate this hotel as a three. Pillows were flat had to ask for more, walls very thin, shower water could have been hotter. Would have been nice if they had compimentry water and coffee or tea in the lobby. This hotel was a perfect location, close to green park station and to the palace. Location made up the difference in the few dissapointing things. Hotel was clean but just didnt have that Hilton charm.

Location, location, location
I used to live in England so I am used to some of the peculiarities of life there - and to local standards, so the rooms without window screens weren't alarming to me, nor was the creaky uniqueness of the hotel property. Americans looking for luxurious rooms will probably be disappointed - this is an old property in a very cramped urban setting, so modern, snazzy amenities will not be the top lure of this hotel. But the location in the heart of Mayfair is outstanding. Buckinham Palace is a short stroll away - and a glorious walk through the parks brings you to Horse Guards, Whitehall and on to Westminster. Lots of wonderful restaurants are nearby. The floors are old and a little creaky, the views are urban (but think of it as sort of Dickensian), the air conditioning units were large and portable (and noisy) and the rooms are pretty basic. But they are well kept and if you are doing London right - you won't be spending much time in your room. Mine was nice and quiet. I was satisfied with the accomodations, even though the room was very small and London prices are breathtaking. Service was wonderful and gracious and I especially liked the 24 hr business center with internet access. The hotel restaurant was very good also - adding the breakfast option to your room on arrival is a good idea we discovered in retrospect. Being in such a wonderful location really made our London vacation memorable and convenient.

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
The London "Tube" (Subway) has a stop nearby, and there is a popular dining area about a block away (Sheperd's Market). The property is right off of Picadilly, and the shopping along there is legendary (um, and expensive) Having the tube stop close by makes all of London easily accessible.

An old building, so some of the floors might be a little uneven if you have difficulty walking. Otherwise, this is a good hotel on a quiet street, with a good choice for breakfast; and if you're happy to walk, it's only 15 minutes to Picadilly. I'd certainly be happy to stay again.

Great Location
The Hilton Green Park is a couple of blocks away from the underground's Piccadilly Line, which runs through the heart of London. The hotel is also within walking distance from Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus, and the fancy stores of Old Bond Street. I would definitely stay again!

Great location, great value
Prepaid $610 for a Thursday-Sunday stay in Mayfair District off Green Park stop, can't get much better location than this - famous Ritz Hotel is 3 minute walk away. Concierge not very knowledgeable so do restaurant research yourself. Extremely convenient to Picadilly subway line that goes straight to Heathrow airport, without having to hassle with transferring bags or luggage. Bathroom was a bit small, shower curtain practically hung on toilet and couldn't sit 100% straight on toilet due to tub angle. Bed was comfortable and room was clean. Common areas not so clean, saw dirty room service plate in hallway for over 2 days. No pool, spa, sauna, steam room. No free internet except for Hilton HHonors Gold or higher.
