old facilities, good location
it takes about 15min walk to the new street station and bull ring shopping center and china town. the building is historical so the facilities inside are very old. such as the door locker, shower, kettle are too old to use. there is no wifi in rooms but in lobby on the ground floor.

Not exactly what I expected
My room was small and a bit grotty with damp and bubbling plaster on the walls. Heat was via a convector which when on made the room very hot but room cooled quickly when I switched it off. I could not do this at night so slept in a cold room. No Internet in room despite brocher saying there was and the one meal I ate there was nothing t write home about. I will not return to this hotel.

Good for last minute
Went to the Frankfurt Christmas market in Birmingham with my girlfriend. One too many mulled wines meant we decided to stay over and the Paragon was decently priced for an emergency. Staff were fine. Location is okay. Its a 10-15 minute walk to the Bullring. The area felt okay but I can understand that some folk might be intimidated. Has a free parking garage. I think the entrance/exit is monitored by CCTV but I did make sure the car was empty before leaving it. The room is very basic. No double glazing. Bed was okay, I've slept it worse, but consider Premier Inn to be better. Shower is basic, kept changing its temperature. TV didnt work very well, Samsung flatscreen but kept loosing reception. Did not try any food. Would not recommend it for anything more than an emergency. If I were to book in advance I would not pick this, I'd rather go to a Travel Lodge.

Miss unhappy
Disappointed
Went for 1 night but the room is very small (double) hardly cope in 2 adult and 2 kids, mattress was very uncomfortable could feel the springs were pushed down heavily by other sleeping. The windows so not health and safety, old type wooden push up windows, any child over 4 could fall out. Kettle very small and dirty. Bathroom was the worst experience, smell of damp and muld on silicone and on shower curtain plus very old fashion taps and almost blocked drain in shower that water was staying for very long inside.

Keep looking
The room was dreadful: tiny, dark, dirty walls, carpets, the shower walls had black limescale, there was no hot water, the bed and pillows were rock hard and uncomfortable, the heater had to be turned with a coin and was either too hot or too cold. All in all, terrible. Will never go back.
