Madrid Bound
Good location....forgetable stay
The location of the hotel is in the heart of everything you would like to see and do and Madrid. The hotel itself though is an old building with very few amenities and the service was quite poor. For the money there have to be a ton more places to stay while still being convenient. The Ayre Gran Hotel Colon is a great hotel that is in a quite area but still a short subway ride away from everything...and it's cheaper.

Ordinary and lacking in staff attitude.
The hotel was under construction so the lobby was a mess. The staff is just plain rude. They have attitude and have no graciousness. They are annoyed and abrupt by a guest question. The internet is not available in the rooms. It is only on the hotel computer in the bar that one can get service and in any case you must pay 2 Euros per half hour anywhere in the hotel.

Short walk from hotel
Wear sneakers everywhere. The walks and streets are irregular and have many breaks.

Noise!
This hotel is nothing special unless you enjoy other people's noise. Someone flushes a toilet, you hear it. Someone next door snores, you hear it. Traffic noise all through the night - you get the picture. A special prize goes to Madrid hotels that charge 10 Euros per day or more for internet access. Do you charge for water or oxygen or using the elevator? Some things should just be included in the price.

Hotel Regente
Hotel Regente seemed like it was one level above a hostile. It's right in the center of all the action and if you spend little time in your room and like the hostile feel, this Hotel might be for you. If you're driving parking is 20 Euros a day and the location is hard to get to. Take a taxi, its much easier. There are all sorts of bars and clubs around. Some shady, some nice. The location is great but I found the rooms lacking. Small and dingy. We checked out early and the staff was less than friendly.

good location
Good location for tourist spots. I had been to Madrid 1 other time. The hotel staff was "ok", but the air conditioning just did not keep the room cool enough, so could not sleep. Also 3 of us traveling together, the room was too small, had much better accomodations in other places for less or equal $$.

Good location, bad service
Great location, however the stuff hardly speak English. Also for some reason they did not let a friend of mine come up to my room for 5 minutes while I was dressing up. Internet is really slow as well.

Great location, unfriendly staff
Clean room, except bathroom smelled of sewage for our entire stay. Comfortable beds and great location. Front desk staff was unfriendly and unhelpful. Also our room was located 2 floors above the breakfast restaurant and it was still very loud in the mornings. Wifi internet is NOT free at 2 euros for half an hour, or 10 euros for the whole day. Good location and comfortable beds do not make up for an unfriendly staff and lack of free Internet considering the price.

If your staying more than a day.. go elsewhere
This is a perfect place if your staying in Madrid for a day. It's a basic place with your basic needs. Have to pay 13 euro for 30 minutes of internet, 12 euro for TV access and 13 euro for breakfast. It's near everything Madrid has to offer and metro stops very near by.
