Coconut Bay 8/7/10- 8/14/10

We stayed at Coconut Bay from 8-7-10 thru 8-14-10 and were somewhat disappointed. The rooms were small and very outdated. The Beach Bites Grill and swim up bar were closed for a few days for re-modeling. The staff was mostly accomodating to any requests or questions that we had. As we had read in reviews about the hotel, the beach had alot of seaweed which they worked on removing throughout the day. Be aware that is gets dark early on the island of St. Lucia by 6:15PM and the resort starts fogging for mosquitos. The food was ok, but after a week the buffet was getting boring. Definately try Bellagio and Silk. We never had a problem getting reservations. For guests traveling from the US- remember to bring an outlet converter. Cell phone reception was non-existant. We made 2 calls from the hotel using our credit card and were pleasantly surprised to see that we were charged $20.00 a minute!!! Definately try to do some excursions. The zip line was great and so was whale watching. Definately explore Souffre and Castries. The ocean on the Caribbean side of the island is much clearer and much more beautiful. We have been most recently to resorts in Hawaii and were disappointed by the level of the Coconut Bay. Overall we had a good trip but 7 days was definately to long, 3-4 days would have been much better. We are not big drinkers so all inclusive for us was not the right choice. If you enjoy sitting pool side drinking this is the right option. Recommend for families, not couples looking to get away. The water slides and lazy river are great for kids and adults.

Definately use the resort credit that Coconut Bay gives each guest. My husband and I received a credit of $350.00 and it covered 2 excursions.

Relaxing vacation

Great location near the airport, flights are only in the afternoon so no bother. Resort is clean and well maintained. Numerous pools, jacuzzi, "lazy river" & water slides - great for kids. Food good but not excellent. Has an adult pool & bar area, which is good for couples. Would recommend for families or couples.

Great Honeymoon

I had a great honeymoon at the Coconut Bay and Resort. My husband and I really enjoyed it. When we were outside we stayed on the Adults side the most, however we did go to the lazy river a few times which was nice. We never had any problems with any of the kids there. You really didn't notice them at all. Everyone was nice and friendly. Our bartenders always took good care of us. Especially Loan and Coco. Maclee was always helpful too. The food was good. Make sure that you make reservations a day ahead for Silks and Bellagio. We ate at Bellagio 3 nights and at Silks 1 night because we liked Bellagio better. My husband and I would have like to have seen more native food at the resort. We also would have liked room service, but this is not available. At night the resort is bombed for bugs. You can't miss it. There is a truck that sprays a white fog everywhere. Make sure to bring bug spray with you because the mosquitos are really bad! Over all we had a great time! Very relaxing! My husband did lose his wedding band, but this was not the hotels fault. He lost it while snorkeling!

Great time, but read

The hotel was a great deal for the price. Our family had a great experience, except for one thing. The night before we left, we arrived back at the room to find a notice saying the gift shop would be closed the next day (the day we were leaving). Since the shop was closed at that time, we didn't get to purchase some last minute things. Just a little more notice would have been helpful.

Fun Place. Great Trip

This was a honeymoon trip and my husband and I had a blast! The grounds and pool are beautiful. The place was cleverly laid out so that if you wanted peace and quiet, you could go to one end of the property where there were quiet cabanas and palm tress overlooking the ocean. Great for reading a book and napping. If you wanted an adult setting, there was another area around a small pool next to a tiki bar. A little further down it was noisier with a larger pool near the snack shack, and music piped in throughout the day. Further down was the family pool with showers, fountains, wading pool, and swim-up bar. Further still was the lazy river. And at the end was the water park area. All of this along the ocean. Great for both families and couples. Staff was friendly and accommodating. This was a first time at an all-inclusive for both of us. We found the food to be excellent. The buffets were diverse and tasty. The specialty restaurants were also good, although it was the same menu there each time. We like the Italian one the best. The Asian restaurant was good, but not very authentically Asian. The alcoholic drinks throughout the resort were fine, although the wine was dreadful. Very cheap. Undrinkable. We ended up ordering a nice bottle of wine each evening at the restaurant (at a price) to drink in the evening. During the day we made do with beer and blender drinks. At the swim-up bar it was nice that they had two large signs displayed, one for alcoholic and one for non-alcoholic drinks. Their non-alcoholic drinks were also delicious! During the heat of the day, sitting in the pool, drinking a frosty pineapple coconut drink was fabulous! Our room was okay, but not great. We were on the second floor and our view was blocked by a building right in front of us. If we stepped out onto the porch and looked left, then we could see the ocean. The bathroom was small. The shower stall was tiny. The room looked a little tired. But we didn't spend much time there so it was okay. We were mostly on the property except for one snorkeling trip to the Grand Pitons. It was great. Highly recommended. Stunning above and below the water. The roads all over the island are twisty, so if you suffer motion sickness, bring dramamin. The beach on the property is pretty, but very windy. Not any water sports on the property. Windsurfing, however, can be found a walk down the beach.
