San Juan hotel offers character and comfort on Isla Verde Beach
Few Isla Verde hotels have the personality of the Beach House. On the beach behind the boutique hotel sit huge canopy beds for lounging. Entrance to the hotel's beach club comes with the use of towels and lounge chairs, massage therapists (fees apply), and attendants who dispense sunblock, gelato and frosty drinks. The hotel's Cafe la Plage spills out onto a palm tree-shaded patio, which opens seamlessly to the sand. When the sun goes down, the patio becomes a nighttime hot spot lit warmly with candles and tiki torches.
Highlights
- Located on Isla Verde Beach
- Private beach canopy beds
- Beach attendants
- On-site restaurant
Rooms
The cozy rooms at the Beach House have a bright, contemporary look that mimics the coastline outside their windows, with thick drapes and duvets the color of dunes and seagrape leaves. Leather headboards and stainless steel lamps give the rooms a European feel. High-speed wireless Internet access is available in every room. Each bathroom has a shower. All of the rooms have a flat-screen TV with DVD player, iPod docking stations and L'occitane products.
Dining
Cafe La Plage is an on-site brasserie serving lunch and dinner. Specialties such as seafood ceviche are served either in the breezy indoor dining room or an outdoor patio. Guests can request a table on the beach surrounded by tiki torches. The cafe at the Beach House is closed on Mondays.
Entertainment
On weekend nights, the patio lights are dimmed, a movie screen is raised and independent films are shown. Thursdays are the nights for "Jazz Under the Stars" at Café la Plage.
Recreation
Step out the back of the Beach House and onto Isla Verde Beach. The hotel's 90-foot-long yacht, the Bateau la Plage, is available for charter (fees apply). The Beach House also offers a "boot camp beach workout," every Saturday for a fee.

great location
It had a really good location, right in front of the beach and with lots of places to eat in the surroundings. The staff was ok, the price was ok too. The room was pretty clean, but don't expect a TV or any technological devices of that sort. The parking is $10 bucks a night plus taxes. Its not very quiet either. However, if you don't want to stay in a big hotel chain, this one is ok.

Can't beat the beach
Myself and 3 friends stayed at this hotel for a 2 night weekend stay to get away from the big city. We are in our mid to late 20s. The hotel location was great. Near all the other hotels and a cab ride away from any attraction. The best part about this hotel is the beach, the beach furniture and the bar/restaurant beach service. The food was average but good. We wanted a beach and some beach side service and thats what we got. It was great. The rooms we OK. They had a nice make over at some point recently. It seemed clean but has pretty dingy lighting. The windows didn't open easily for natural light. But the AC worked well and who really spends time in the room when you have the beach? We got in on a friday, went out to a great dinner and actually wanted to go to sleep early instead of party. There happend to be a graduation party going on at the hotel with a live band. The room offered NO buffer for the sound. Thankfully I was tired and had earplugs but it was NOT a quiet room. I doubt any of their rooms are. The weekend social scene there is also weirdly kid friendly but I saw kids everyone in San Juan so maybe its just the culture. At one point a kid ran in-between our towels as we laid on the beach... It was like an upgraded hostel with a beautiful beach and bar. We really enjoyed it though as I get older and want some more quiet and cleanliness, I will stay somewhere else.

Family vacation
Our trip to Puerto Rico was as a whole fabulous. The hotel was not the best. I definitely felt like we were roughing it. The staff was awesome and super friendly. The location is gorgeous. Couldn't find a prettier beach front. However the rooms are very old, outdated, and barely functional. The water went off for 36 hours while we were there. We couldnt shower of use the toilet. Which was a major drag! The hotel has a nightclub an a bar which is fun for adults. If I take my kids again we would stay somewhere a little more kid friendly.

Beach vacation
This hotel in the Isla Verde area is not easy to find. Look for the Burger King on the opposite side of the street in order to locate the small entrance/parking lot. The hotel is small, but the staff are helpful and the location on the beach is amazing. The rooms are small but they get the job done. The bathroom was nice and the full-size bed was comfortable.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
There is a restaurant at the hotel and two restaurants right across the street. If you are willing to take a long walk/short drive there are plenty of more upscale restaurants (i.e. Ruth Chris) nearby.

blah
Staff have attitudes, but will listen to you then decide their own thing. If you complain about anything, they just try to buy you off with drink coupons at the bar. I kept finding hair all over my room - on the bed, floor, shower, sink, hair everywhere. It was weird nasty. When I complained, I got 4 drink coupons and nothing else. Bathroom toilet holder was broken, windows do not let in light or open. AC is a window unit - not Central Air. Room was not the cleaniest at all..
