San Juan Park Hotel

if you need to stay on night then this is good, the location is not good for activities as you are between Old San Juan and Condado, Taxi fares will blow your budget so there goes your room savings. The nearby shops are very expensive

No No No.....don't do it.

No, it is not real close to anything. The map provided by this "O" travel site shows wrong location and listed "Nearby Points Of Interest" seem messed up to me. Do your homework and double-check. The "B" rum factory is a 20 minute cab ride. Nobody at the airport taxi stand knew where this place was. Old San Juan is a brisk 30 to 40 minute walk each way. Royal Caribbean dock is not close and is not practical to walk to. However, nice beach is only 10 blocks away. Room cleanliness was OK. Hallways had a very stong "air freshener" chemical smell. Laundry room doubles as continental breakfast area. I am generally easy to please, and think $100/night would be fair ..... but for $170/night, I expected better. I would give this place 2 .5 stars. No, I would not recommend, and NO, I will not be staying here again.

Clean but Lacking

We booked this hotel for a short duration before and after a cruise (three nights before and two nights after). I had the same reaction that others had when they first arrived, thinking "What did I just book?" Well, when you enter the building, everything changes. The lobby is clean and in good condition. Check in was efficient and we were given room keys quickly. We were told where our room was and off we went. The room appeared nice and clean (both times we stayed). The king size bed was nice looking and there was decent TV in the room. So, overall, the bed was comfortable for us in each room and the room was clean. The bad stuff though, was that the outside walls let every sound in. The street the hotel is on is a busy street all night long. If you plan on getting up early, then great because the honking of the cars and the big trucks that drive by will wake you up anyway. The phone in our second room did not work. The bathroom had issues like the towel rack on the side wall was missing. The soap dish in the shower is pitiful. The water pressure was TERRIBLE. But, the bathroom was in newer condition and was clean. The wifi in both of our rooms was terrible. In the second room, we could not even connect at all and the router was maybe 100 feet away. If you expect a big breakfast, don't stay here. You get cereal, toast, some prepackaged muffins and pastries (that have more calories than a 2 liter bottle of Pepsi), and if you get up early enough, fruit. They also have orange juice, coffee, milk, and apple juice. We stayed because we were excited to be able to do some laundry, however, they had signs telling the guests that the washer and dryer were not available for guest use. It turns out that they were using the washer and dryer to wash the sheets and towels for guest rooms. My overall assessment is that the hotel room and lobby appears clean. The hall ways could use some help. Wifi is terrible. The manager could probably take a few moments each month and do an inspection of each room. If they would do this, my review would probably have been a lot better. The staff was ok, but not overly helpful. The housekeeper we saw never smiled at all. The desk clerk at night told me that I could not touch their computer and if I wanted to print a boarding pass, I would have to email it to him to do it. What happens if you don't have a computer yourself to do it? Do you give him your password to login and do it for you? Anyway, we are on the fence about staying here again. We would probably choose somewhere that has a pool if we came again. Also, we would choose somewhere that didn't have a terrible sewer smell out front every single day (which I acknowledge is not the hotel's fault).

Close to many things!!!! Clean!

The hotel itself is clean, in a very good location. Walking distance to old San Juan and Condado, close to beaches. The room on the other hand is small!!!!!! The bed feels like you are sleeping on the floor. No pool, but we were not looking for that. Also no parking. If you rent a car, it is $20 to park at the hilton down the street. **** there is a car rental place right across across from the hilton on the corner on the San Juan park hotel, we rented a car there CHEAP and parked on the side street for free!**** good place to stay if you plan to be out and about all day.

small, cozy hotel in nice area

You can't beat the location of this small hotel across from the Supreme Court complex, next to the Hilton, and within walking distance to several beaches, restaurants and historical attractions. We appreciated the large balcony and humble continental breakfast as well. There's even a Subway restaurant in the same block.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

The bus stop is only one block away on the main drag going into Old San Juan. The senior fare for two is only 55 cents (27.5 cents each!). They don't give change, but that's a steal. The bus stops near the cruise ports, restaurants, and stores downtown. You can take the free trolley to get to the grocery store, fort, and other historical attractions in Old Town. They don't allow luggage on the buses, so you'll need to pay $10 for a taxi to get to the cruise port and downtown.

Great place for value

This place was clean, convenient, and had a great and friendly staff. The room was tiny but for the price, who cares. It's right on a beach and we walked to old San Juan (it was a long walk but a walk nonetheless). Comes with breakfast snacks...don't expect anything too healthy.
