Budget Carolina hotel near Isla Verde Beach with on-site restaurants
Visitors to the Coral by the Sea Hotel in Isla Verde pass through its brightly colored archway and into an attractive, warmly lit lobby with dark wood and colorful tile. Fine location, friendly & helpful staff!
Because one of my primary reasons for going to Puerto Rico was to practice speaking Spanish, I was seeking people with whom to chat. So often I'd say something in Spanish and be replied to in English, mainly because they wish to perfect their English! Located min. walk from the beach and also from shops, casinos & restaurants in the other direction! What lacked for me was a provision right there for emailing but if i had taken a laptop that connection was free. Food right there was good, and staff was very helpful. Safe and short distance from airport without being right in San Juan it was ideal for this inquiring Senior lady travelling alone and i intend to return there next year!

My review of Coral by the Sea Hotel
The Coral By The Sea is an older hotel needing a little maintenance but it was in a good location, it was clean, the staff was friendly and the price was reasonable.

The main dining restaurant of the hotel was expensive so we ate in the cafe area where the food was good and reasonably priced.

very nice stay
everyone was real friendly, great location with lots to do near, the price was very good compared to the rest, if im by there again i would stay - right in the heart of everything and everyone was kind and helpful

You get what you pay for.
This hotel is by far, but if you are only looking for a place to sleep, this place is perfect. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean, just a bit old fashioned. It is within walking distance of the beach, many bars and restraunts, and a very nice casino. So, for people that only sleep in their hotel while on vacation, this is a great place for you...

Very helpfull staff
I was very happy with the service, the price. It's perfect if you're on a budget because this way you can spend you money on other things. The rooms are extremly comfortable, everyday we would put the maid service tag and the room was cleaned everyday and we always had clean towels. I'm very happy with my stay at the Coral by the Sea. All the employees were wonderful especially the night manager he gave us advise on where to go during the day and night. I would recommend you stay here 100%.

Everything there was so close, the beach was 3blocks north. Old San Juan only about 10mins west. Pleanty of restaurants on the Isla Verde

Great Value
It is not close to downtown Puerto Rico. There is no pool but the ocean/Gulf is two blocks away. It has two restrurants one is a grill/ice cream parlor and the other is an excellent five star restrurant. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The only disappointment I had is that there were no clothes hangers in the closet area. The bus to Old San Juan stops in front of the hotel. It is about a 50 minute ride.

Good Bargain
My overall experience in Coral by the Sea Hotel was great. The front staff was helpful, friendly and polite. The day we came in we got there 2 hours earlier than the check-in time, and they were able to accommodate us. The room was clean and decent size. It met the basic necessities, good working AC, 2 windows; good water pressure in the shower, hot and cold water, cable TV and it was safe. The location was great, 2 blocks away from the beach and about 10 min. away from Viejo San Juan and Pi?ones. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for a bargain, and are not planning to spend much time inside. Not much to do in the hotel; lobby is very small and only place for wireless internet access, but there is plenty to do and to go to on the surrounding area.

Beach is a short walk from the hotel; there are also a few restaurants around the area, including one downstairs. A casino, a nightclub and live Salsa Band playing in the lobby of a nearby hotel are also walking distance.

Hotel staff is very polite and friendly, they all are bilingual too. My room was good... it was not luxurious at all but it has enough space and comfort for a quick stay. Location is good if you want to stay near to the airport but it's a little bit far from Viejo San Juan (the main tourist attracton in the area). From the Hotel, Taxi prices are $14 to the airport and $20 to Viejo San Juan (you can divide the cost with other people and share the Taxi).
