Could be better
The buffet food is OK – not much variety (very tasty breads); the specialty restaurants, i.e. French, Brazilian, etc (with an exception of the Mediterranean) are less than average. Strangely enough, we were only allowed to use 4 out of 6 specialty restaurants in our 10-day visit (?!) Too many wild rat-like animals with long tails (they are called coatis) run all over the resort; they get on the balconies, dining tables on the beach. Birds are flying all over the dining room and literally try to pick the food off the plates while you are eating (bird droppings are everywhere). The beach sand is very dirty (cigarette butts, apple and corn cores and other “stuff”) – during our 10-day stay I have not seeing it been cleaned once! There is plenty of space on the beach. Every 5-10 min someone is trying sell you something on the beach: fake Cuban cigars, cheap silver jewelry, sunglasses, etc. After a couple of days it becomes very annoying. The swimming pool is huge and looks very good. The best thing about the resort is coffee – great espressos and a regular coffee! Great golf course (about $130 with rental clubs per round) with an excellent driving range! Yoga (well, stretching sessions); air rifle; bow and arrow; volleyball - all available on the beach. The hotel (or I should say the resort) is too big and impersonal. The entertainment is the same pathetic thing, as every resort in Mexico has - with the same stupid shows and games that we’ve seeing every year in the last 10-15 years; with the same annoying and very loud music. I would not give this resort more than 3 stars ( apples).

Great quality for the price
Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Plenty of things to do and great food to eat. Loved the environment there. The grounds were nicely kept and there were many animals roaming the grounds which made it a lot of fun to go for walks. If you are a diver, the local dive shop was excellent. The night life at the hotel was rich and full. We would wake up early and go to bed late and have a full day there.

Not what we expected
The grounds were beautiful. The beach had plenty of chairs and was beautiful. However, the room had bugs in the bathroom every night, the air conditioner was broke, the fridge was not cold, and we had to call housekeeping everyday to get our room cleaned. The food was average. We travel often and we were not impressed with the Iberostar.

Regrettably, an unfavorable review
Everything with our 11 night stay at Ibersotar Paraiso del Mar was exceptional except for one instance. One guest left a cell phone in the room which disappeared after housekeeping one day. We reported it with staff who conducted a 48 hour investigation. During the 48 hours, our room keys were inoperable, requiring multiple trips to the lobby. Concierge concluded the phone was not found and refused to provide us with a final report. We were provided instead a copy of the initial lost and found page, but we wanted an official resolution to try and obtain a phone through insurance from the cell carrier. Management Ana said that was internal information and we would get no final report. I though her attitude was unacceptable as was the denial of a simple request of a paper stating the staff looked for and did not locate our cell phone. A complaint was filed for this reason and a copy of the complaint was provided. This made the incident seem suspicious and made the remainder of our stay slightly uncomfortable. I wish it had been handled more courteously, as the rest of the staff and our stay at Iberostar was wonderful. Sadly, we will not return to their resorts in the future.

Great time at a destination wedding!
This was my first time to Riviera Maya. Last year we did Isla Mujeres and in previous trips, we stayed in the hotel zone in Cancun. I must say, this resort exceeded my expectations. The complex is huge with 5 hotels on property. It feels as if you are in your own little town. The all-inclusive part is amazing. They do not skimp on the quality/selection of food or beverage. If you are not afraid to come back a few pounds heavier, this is the place to try out! I would definitely go back. The only thing is, I would have a hard time deciding which of the 5 hotels to stay in. They are all very nice and each has its own style/theme. Great value, great service, friendly staff, great food, great bars, great scenery!

Great place to vacation
My husband and I really liked the place. It is family oriented as well as very nice and fun for all ages. The food was excellent! The only thing that we didn't like was that there is no free Wi-Fi... you have to buy it and use it all at once... ex. if you buy 15 minutes of internet, you have to use them all the first time you log in... other then that, everything was absolutely awesome!!!

Dining Reservations
The food at the hotel was great! However, once we checked in, we learned that due to the fact the hotel was overbooked that we would only be allowed to make 2 dining reservations for our 4 night stay. When researching the hotel I did not find anything on the website that stated the amount of reservations you can make would be dependent on the number of days you are staying. Nor have I had this experience at any other all inclusive. So two of the nights we had to eat at the buffet-where the food is decent, but thought that we would be able to book all four nights at the different restaurants. The two reservation restaurants we went to- The Mediterranean restaurant and the steakhouse were excellent. All the staff was proficient in both English and Spanish. The pool area is gorgeous and huge- no problem getting chairs. Only other negative, is that everything is very much spread out, so you will have a walk from your room to the resturants and pool/beach
