Could be better

The buffet food is OK – not much variety (very tasty breads); the specialty restaurants, i.e. French, Brazilian, etc (with an exception of the Mediterranean) are less than average. Strangely enough, we were only allowed to use 4 out of 6 specialty restaurants in our 10-day visit (?!) Too many wild rat-like animals with long tails (they are called coatis) run all over the resort; they get on the balconies, dining tables on the beach. Birds are flying all over the dining room and literally try to pick the food off the plates while you are eating (bird droppings are everywhere). The beach sand is very dirty (cigarette butts, apple and corn cores and other “stuff”) – during our 10-day stay I have not seeing it been cleaned once! There is plenty of space on the beach. Every 5-10 min someone is trying sell you something on the beach: fake Cuban cigars, cheap silver jewelry, sunglasses, etc. After a couple of days it becomes very annoying. The swimming pool is huge and looks very good. The best thing about the resort is coffee – great espressos and a regular coffee! Great golf course (about $130 with rental clubs per round) with an excellent driving range! Yoga (well, stretching sessions); air rifle; bow and arrow; volleyball - all available on the beach. The hotel (or I should say the resort) is too big and impersonal. The entertainment is the same pathetic thing, as every resort in Mexico has - with the same stupid shows and games that we’ve seeing every year in the last 10-15 years; with the same annoying and very loud music. I would not give this resort more than 3 stars ( apples).

Pretty close, but not perfect

Huge resort. Stayed in the Del Mar/Paraiso Beach area. There was another premium area, but you did not wish you were there because there was so much to do. You did not see the "class" difference that I had seen in other resorts. Plenty of harmless wildlife to see within the resort. The entertainment group, Star Friends had plenty of fun things to participate in. FOOD- Breakfast was my favorite and provided lots of delicious juices. As far as the buffet lunch, buffet dinner, Brazilian and Japanese was just OK. POOL- Endless pool area with very cool canopies. Of course you will have to wake up super early to claim a spot with shade or on the edge of the pool. BEACH- Gorgeous turquoise water and clean sand. Spots are more widely available under the sun. Shade, not so much. STAFF- I was impressed with thier overall attitudes. Very warm staff and accomodating. ROOM- I have mixed feelings. My room was not swept and had sand after our first night. My towels were replaced even though we had hung them up to reuse. When replaced, we were not replenished with wash clothes. If you are a stickler for wash clothes, then you know how annoying it can be to not use one. It was obvious we used them. When we called the maids quarters, it took them over 2 hours to deliver. WALKING- Who does that on vacation? The resort is huge, so there are trollies to haul you from end to end. I found that the they did not run as frequent. We had to walk on most occassions and felt lucky to catch one when we did. Definitely need to improve greatly on this. Luckily we are from NYC, so we walk alot. We even had to walk from the club area back to the lobby, to wait for a trolley to be called, to pick us up. Very annoying at 2am or when you have dinner reservations. I've had better trolly experience in other chain resorts. Overall the resort is great.

Average Hotel

Pros: staff was extremely friendly and helpful resort was beautiful easy access to beach large pool entertainment during the day & night was great! Cons: you basically had to keep your towel on a lounge chair by the pool from the night before to reserve your spot! there was no availability the morning of! beds were uncomfortable hairdryer was useless Food: DO NOT order room service unless you are drunk, the only decent item on the menu was the pork tacos. Buffet food was mediocre, but I found it absurd you had a limited amount of nights you could go to a restaurant. I've never experienced that at any other all inclusive resort I've stayed at.

Great quality for the price

Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Plenty of things to do and great food to eat. Loved the environment there. The grounds were nicely kept and there were many animals roaming the grounds which made it a lot of fun to go for walks. If you are a diver, the local dive shop was excellent. The night life at the hotel was rich and full. We would wake up early and go to bed late and have a full day there.

Not what we expected

The grounds were beautiful. The beach had plenty of chairs and was beautiful. However, the room had bugs in the bathroom every night, the air conditioner was broke, the fridge was not cold, and we had to call housekeeping everyday to get our room cleaned. The food was average. We travel often and we were not impressed with the Iberostar.

Regrettably, an unfavorable review

Everything with our 11 night stay at Ibersotar Paraiso del Mar was exceptional except for one instance. One guest left a cell phone in the room which disappeared after housekeeping one day. We reported it with staff who conducted a 48 hour investigation. During the 48 hours, our room keys were inoperable, requiring multiple trips to the lobby. Concierge concluded the phone was not found and refused to provide us with a final report. We were provided instead a copy of the initial lost and found page, but we wanted an official resolution to try and obtain a phone through insurance from the cell carrier. Management Ana said that was internal information and we would get no final report. I though her attitude was unacceptable as was the denial of a simple request of a paper stating the staff looked for and did not locate our cell phone. A complaint was filed for this reason and a copy of the complaint was provided. This made the incident seem suspicious and made the remainder of our stay slightly uncomfortable. I wish it had been handled more courteously, as the rest of the staff and our stay at Iberostar was wonderful. Sadly, we will not return to their resorts in the future.

Beautiful resort

We loved the resort. Staff was helpful and very friendly. We felt safe and well taken care of. There was lots for every one to do. We thought the food was a little lacking in quality and variety. The biggest problem was by the end of the week all five members of the family were pretty ill. It had to be from what we ate or drank at the resort.

Every thing was pretty good

Staff was great, better than most. Beach was great, Lots of shade and lounge chairs. Sandy beach. Room was great. Buffets were a bit skimpy on meat selection only at supper time but good for breaky and lunch. Snack bar at Beach was good. . Layout was great. Excelent place for familys. No Wi Fi in rooms and I was not told that rooms were wired for internet but have since been told so. Cant verify that. Found it hard to book Specialty meals. heard it was because not enough tourists to open all places every night. I would recomend this place thou. We were there for a wedding and lots of friends and family. Kid friendly for sure.
