Warm getaway
Overall, the hotel was nice, the staff was good. You had to walk far distances to get from the room to the hotel restaurants/lobby/shops/sports bar/pool/beach etc. If you wanted to make a reservation at one of the 6 on site restaurants instead of eating at the buffett, you had to get up extremely early or you couldn't get in at a decent time. The restaurants with reservations were always half empty when you were told they were completely "booked".

Take a cab if you want to go anywhere. It's worth it to pay a little extra.(Maybe $10-$15 more) but you don't have to spend hours wasted on waiting for shuttle buses/etc. Especially from the airport.

Time flies when you're having fun.
Our seven days at the Grand Esmerelda flew by. We had a great time. Our room was comfy and clean, the food was excellent and the service people were very pleasant and helpful. Although I would have liked a better selection of alcohol in the bars, it is probably just as well there wasn't.

Great Deal
We did a lot of RELAXING...around the beach and both pools. The resort was a little spead out- if you don't mind walking a little it was nice. We have never done an all inclusive- i would recommend this resort but if i returned to that area i might try another one. The food service staff was friendly but i didn't think the room service employees were (they also cleaned our room late in the afternoon around 4pm so if you wanted to take a nap or get ready for dinner you had to wait if you wanted your room cleaned). The pool didn't have swim up bar but the staff was good about bringing drinks up to the pool if you were hanging along the side of it. The beach was always a busy place if you didn't get a chair by 9am- it was hard to find a group of them together (most people would get there early and put a towel down and walk away, you could lay for two hours and not see someone lay/sit in a chair with a towel on it!!!)

Blue Ribon for Blue Bay Esmeralda
Beautiful resort, very modern and chic! The staff is very very friendly. The food is great and abundant!Easy access to drinks/alcohol. We had a great experience with the hotel. The only complaint we have is the beaches are not as pretty considering it's Playa!

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda
While we were at the Blue Bay Grand we were able to relax and enjoy the weather, which was the purpose of our trip. The only thing that I wish would have been better was the ocean water that is in front of the hotel. Apparently it has turned brown from a storm over a year ago and has not cleared up. I would have like to go to the beach more than the pool. The hotel had great service. Everyone was very friendly at the hotel and always there to help you in any way. The food was very good for and all-inclusive resort. There are 5 restaurants that are reservation only at night and all had good food. During the day there are breakfast and lunch buffets and those have a good variety. The grounds are very beautifully kept. The crews are working constantly to keep everything looking very nice. We were very pleased with the choice to stay here and would go back again if we were going to that location.

Nightlife tip:
In Hotel
There is one bar open 24/7 called the Sports Bar. This is where EVERYONE goes to hang out at night. It wasn't until our second to last night on vaca that we discovered this tiny bar off the beach but still on the hotel grounds that seemed to be hidden from the public. Very beautiful at night!

Something for everyone!
The BBGE is a very well run resort. The pride in having a well run, and maintained resort is obvious around every corner. The BBGE is how ever a resort I would not recommend to someone who has difficulties walk any distance. As for the rest of us, with all of the eating, drinking, and laying around, the walking is a good thing!

Beware of Blue Bay draconian policy
We had a great time. The food was average. Beware of draconian tour policy that doesn't allow external carriers to pick up in the hotel lobby. Hotel tours cost twice as much! We had a huge argument with the hotel because they cause as to miss our tour, we had to argue with the hotel and the tour company to re-schedule for next day and get a ride to the entrance (about 1 Km).

Wonderful trip-
Great vacation- Service was very good, food very good, especially buffets. The ala carts where good, average, not great, but they seem to have a better buffet than most all inclusives I have been at. Rooms nice- nice closet space and comfortable beds! Large resort with lots of walking, didn't mind the stroll on nice evenings and walk off some of the food and drink! Grounds kept very nice!! Large pool area, and a smaller quieter one, both very nice. Plenty of chairs and space on the beach as well. Beach not the best, but no major complaints. They work hard to keep all very nice for their guests. Spa area very nice- bit pricy, but lots of extras!

phenominal trip for the price
We ate amazing food, went swimming in great pools, and drank alot of top shelf alcohol. The only downfall is the layout of the resort. We were in building 8 which seemed to be the furthest from the beach and the main pool. So we did alot of walking!!! We went to COCO BONGO and it was the best club I've ever been to. Even better than vegas!!!!!!! I would highly recommend going to this club!!
