Vast Puerto Vallarta hotel merges old and new Mexico design
Krystal Vallarta is a tale of two resorts: one resembling a Mexican village with quaint cobblestone streets and gardens, the other a luxury haven with contemporary, minimalist rooms with stunning bay views. In the new Grand Tower, guests unwind with high-end amenities such as rainfall showers and private oceanfront balconies, while 501 garden rooms further the serenity. Four a la carte restaurants and two swim-up bars heighten the mood for leisure.
Highlights
  • Two swim-up bars and tranquil Aqueduct pool area
  • Kids Club with supervised activities
  • Contemporary rooms in the new Grand Tower
  • Four a la carte restaurants and 24-hour room service
Rooms
Krystal Vallarta underwent a multi-million-dollar renovation to launch Grand Tower, where 199 deluxe rooms favor minimalist, yet approachable, contemporary flair. Bold splashes of color, such as fiery orange bolsters and tropical bedding, complement clean lines and high-end furniture. The hotel pays attention to quality, from marble floors to over-the-counter sinks and rainfall showers in spa-caliber bathrooms. Balconies offer expansive views of the ocean, garden or Sierra Madre Mountains.Every room has an LCD TV.

Fans of traditional Mexican style opt for the garden rooms, which are set in a village-like setting, complete with cobblestone streets and more than 40 fountains.
Features
Two underwater tables and swim-up bars on each end of Krystal Vallarta's main pool attract those who like a cocktail while they soak. A large sports area divides the pool, while partially submerged sun beds keep guests cool as they tan. Seven Jacuzzis and a tranquil Aqueduct area surrounded by palm trees complete the feeling of tranquility.

Parents turn to the Happy Nino Kids Club to entertain the children and enjoy private time. Supervised activities run the gamut, from craft-making to an indoor playground.
Dining
Guests at Krystal Vallarta indulge in four a la carte restaurants in addition to 24-hour room service. La Trattoria serves Italian fare, while Kamakura Japanese restaurant sets a romantic scene with hanging lights and lush Aqueduct gardens. Because no Mexican trip would be complete without outdoor feasting, patrons can also dine in their bathing suits at poolside buffet Las Velas, lunch favorite Crazy Crab Snack Shack or Bogarts on the Beach.

Average

All-inclusive left something to be desired. The food was excellent, however the drinks were practically virgin. The beds were hard and sheets were scratchy.

Overall a great place for the price

~26 yr old spring breaker wannabe~ The drinks were pretty weak, unless you find a waiter who understands that the stronger the drinks received, the bigger the tip he gets. Israel is the man to order drinks from. Otherwise it's better just to get a bottle down the road and some chase/ice. The overall service was what was expected for the price. Great value overall and a great central location for clubs/activities. Xtine is basically on campus and very close to Stana and La Leche. Well worth the $$ paid.

Spring Break Vacation

Overall, I liked the location of the resort and how it looks outside of the room; it's very beautiful. The rooms are kind of old looking and my shower was clogged, so that was annoying. The Wi-Fi connection was really bad in the rooms, but I truly did not require it for this vacation. I would definitely stay there again since there were lots of young people, and the staff was great!!

Spring Break is what it is

I went on spring break with a bunch of friends. It was a very fun break, but I warn anybody that all-inclusive isn't all that inclusive. Your drink selection is very limited (they will not give you shots unless you tip heavily) and the service is slow and poor. Lunch is just edible enough to get by and dinner was alright. You'll definitely have fun, but keep this stuff in mind when booking.

Krystal Vallarta - Cant ask for anything more

Friendly and attentive staff. Grounds and unit very well maintained. Yes, 2 hiccups when we arrived, however, no more than 5 mins had passed and the staff was there to assist, alarm clock and towel rack.Front desk had calledme, several times, to check up on the service and to see if it was addressed. The weather was absolutely perferct, so my time was very pleasant and I'm returning in 2 months, staying at the same hotel.

Great Location With a Local Feel

Location, location, location! Taxis and the local buses are right out your front door and you are right in between Nueva Vallarta and Old Vallarta with restaurants and a store with a hot deli in walking distance. If you want a fancy Hilton, this is not for you. If you want to dive into the culture and stay “local”, this is perfect. It’s clean, basic, you have lots of room and it’s on the beach. There is construction going on and there will be for quite some time. It did not bother us and we stayed just about on the construction site. The front desk could use a little more help/staff but it’s a great place to be left alone and not hounded hundreds of times as you make your way through the resort. End of June is the beginning of the rainy season which is a neat time to go! Would be great for kids too!

Three of us rode the Blue and White buses to Old Vallarta for less than $20 pesos (~$1.50) total. Great experience & such a steal!

Great Place, location ehh...

The location is a bit far off from the boardwalk where you can enjoy local foods, bars, and shops. You'll be looking at getting plenty of cab rides from here. The hotel itself is very nice and very large.

Birthday trip in mid-February

After reading reviews I was little hesitant to stay at Krystal but to my surprise it was a lot better than some of the 1 or 2 star reviews claimed. You never know what people expect. The staff is great and friendly, if you need help ask for Gerardo the bell boy. Francisco, the waiter is very friendly too. I would suggest not staying in the standard room since it has a mildew smell; we did upgrade to the ocean view and got a good discount. The food is ok at the buffet restaurant but make sure you try the Italian restaurant it was the best. I would not recommend the Japanese restaurant; the sushi was not good at all. If you have never tried sushi go for it, but if you know how it should taste stick with the buffet or Italian. Get the all-inclusive it is the best deal. The location is good since it is close to the airport, Dolphin Park and the pier (two blocks away). If you decide to take a trip downtown the bus takes 30 min and is very bumpy, it will be an experience. The cab ride is smoother and takes half the time. If you have time and want to do something other than lounge at the pool all day I suggest the Las Caletas excursion.
