Hotel Portonovo Plaza

THIS HOTEL IS NOT VERY COMFY. THEY DON'T EVEN PROVIDE COMFORTER'S ON THE BEDS- ONLY A SHEET. THE ROOM IS VERY SMALL ITSELF AND THE BATHROOMS ARE TIGHT. THE HOTEL OVER ALL IS CLEAN. THE STAFF IS NOT VERY FRIENDLY- THEY DO NOT ALWAYS GREET YOU OR TALK TO YOU(FRONT DESK) THE OTHER MAINTENANCE STAFF IS VERY NICE AND ALWAYS GREETED US. I AM NOT GOING BACK TO THIS HOTEL.

Hotel Portonova Plaza is located in the heart of downtown PV. A short 5 minute walk to the Malecon and approx 15-20 min walk to the Romantic Zone (or a cheap taxi ride) made this hotel a great option for my vacation. The value is unbeatable! Beds are not comfortable in Mexico so that would be my only complaint about the room. The rooms were very clean and decorated with modern decore. Had a minor issue with my ID which was required as a deposit for beach towels but that was cleared up with no further problem. Puerto Vallarta is safe and beautiful and will continue to be an annual vacation spot in the future!

Very modern clean rooms. Staff is excellent. 4 min walls to Malecon and clubs. Rooms over looking the main street may be noisy at some times BUT you can’t have it all.

The hotel is very modern and clean. The staff is very friendly as well. WIFI is hit or miss...sometimes strong and sometimes not. The location is both good as far as near everything you want to be near. But, Bad as well as it is on a very busy road. The traffic noise is 24/7 if you are in the front of the building on Mexico Ave. Also, avoid rooms 208 to 211 as that is where the housekeeping staff load their service carts...less than quietly. They are around that area on & off for hours. Hotel and area are Gay friendly.

I had a wonderful experience staying at this hotel. The internet is free in the lobby, which made it so easy to journal my stay via emails to family. Grocery store within 1/2 block was great. Ocean access was wonderful. Walking distance to everything, including Centro district and Romance district. Beautiful sunsets on the beach. Staff was excellent, spoke english, very helpful with suggestions and getting a taxi when I needed one, which was not often because I could walk almost anywhere ! Pool was ok, kinda small, but rooftop is cool. Room was tiny, but so what! It was super clean and I wasn't in it much anyway. Beds were pretty hard, true. 3-4 nights on the beds was enough. I would definately stay there again. Felt very safe as a 60 y.o. single female traveler.

Hotel, Room was clean. Staff very helpfull. Was pleasantly surprised with location, close to beach & shopping areas. Within walking distance to Malecon. Will recommend to freinds.

Dear PortoNovo, The moment that I got off my plane from the airport, I was already having problems -- my camera got stolen from my luggage and my other luggage was on a different flight. Thank you so much for calling the airport, a number of times to follow up with my luggage. When the luggage arrived, you gave me a ring to make sure that I could have it right away. During my stay there, I had tons of homework to do. Your computers in the lobby area (free to use for any hotel guest) really helped me out. However, since I expressed my fear that your word processor was different from that of the United States and that the file may not be compatible with my word processor here, you let me print the documents so I could have a hard copy. Even though the hotel doesn't have a printer for the computers, you let me print it by sending the documents to the hotel's e-mail address and print it from the front desk printers (creative thinking indeed). Each one of your staff is so friendly. From helping me with my bags to the very moment I checked out. Thank you for turning what would have been a vacation-gone-wrong to a vacation-gone-perfect. I stayed there only for two nights and couldn't find a single problem, very nice hotel, very clean and new.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel for 7 nights and had a wonderful stay. The hotel is very modern, especially considering how "rustic" many of the hotels in Puerto Vallarta are! The staff were mostly bilingual and answered all of our questions. The pool on the roof was amazing! We were up there quite a few times. The hotel also has a elevator, for those concerned about walking with luggage. Overall, a great value and we really didn't notice the noise issues many seemed to have. There is some construction in the neighborhood but nothing crazy. Our only complaints were having your room key power the room, so when you leave for the day, you come back and the room is VERY warm. I wasn't such a fan of that. And the power went out twice while we were there, however, that seems to be more of a local issues, as our friends were there with us (they were at two different hotels) had the same problem. But overall, a great value and a great location to experience true Mexican culture!
