Would not only recommend it, but would stay there again.
The hotel is right on the beach and very close to downtown. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The food was pretty good, especially in the fancier restaurant that is open for dinner. The room I stayed in was average, but since we planned on spending very little time there it was not that important to us. Our biggest complaint about the rooms were that my friends and I thought the beds were really hard and uncomfortable. I highly recommend all-inclusive resorts. It is really nice to know that you do not have to worry about carrying money with you down at the pool or beach and it makes budgeting your trip much easier. I also suggest doing the zip line tour while you are there. We got a great deal on the beach, much cheaper than through the hotel. My friends and I had a great time doing it. We also went on a boat excursion, which was not as fun but a great way to spend one of the days.

Short drive from hotel
Take a taxi downtown. We loved going out and meeting some of the locals. Sky was our favorite club, so if you like to go out check out some of the night spots in town. The guys on the beach can tell you where the events are and sometimes you can get wrist bands to get in free and get drinks.

Great Vacation Spot!
This place was great! First time ever visiting Mexico and it was a blast! We got to the hotel about 12:30, they greeted us with a drink, let us check in early, held our bags until our room was ready, and told us to go grab some lunch at one of the restaurants! Very friendly staff, always made sure there was a drink in our hand and they were strong! The food was ok, seemed like it was always the same things every night. Guacamole was to amazing, best I have ever had! Room was nice, the beds and pillows weren't the best, I think they could using some updating of mattresses as they were pretty old and hard. This is not a spring break party hotel, most of the people are over 35 and married. The lounge bar is open til 1am but there isn't much to do at night at the hotel. This is close to many different things to do in the city within walking distance too! Everyone was very helpful and we had a great time!

Don't worry about forgetting anything because there is a supermarket across the street about 2 blocks. You can find anything here from clothes, tooth brushes, liquor and most importantly Viagra!!!! Seriously it's really nice to be able to buy anything you need here.

Burnt to a Crisp
First Trip to Mexico!
This was my husband's and I first time to Mexico ever and we had a great time!!!! We were lucky enough to share the resort with a bunch of local guests who were celebrating Holy Week. The resort was always alive and fun. Can't even begin to say what great staff there is at Friendly!! We were there from the change over of the super busy Mexican holiday to just a regular day in April and the service only got better!! Beach chairs right to the ocean, wait staff that always brought you drinks and food and made sure everything was perfect!! Every night there was entertainment...and the food was AWESOME! My only con of the entire trip was the beds were not very comfortable and no swim up bar but really can't complain best bang for our buck and had a great time. We'll be back next year and bringing the kids!

Take a taxi (50 Pesos) to the Malecon!! Its a boardwalk with tons of vendors, great place to buy souveniers. And eat at the Cheeky Monkey great CLEAN restaurant!

Great staff everything else not so Friendly
The staff at Friendly Vallarta were AMAZING! We have stayed at multiple hotels and have not had such great service elsewhere. They take care of you and make sure you are happy. However we would not recommend this resort to a couple that is looking to get away and have a good time with drinks and entertainment. The bar situation is not good at all. There is one bar during the day that services the whole resort including all of the kids that are getting fruity drinks that take time to make. At night there is one bar in the lobby. The setup there is couches around the lobby, a little weird and not much ventilation. Therefore the few non smokers on the resort are engrossed in a blue haze of smoke. The rooms were horrible. It was like living in a dorm room. It is outdated. There is no air circulation so it is very moist in the rooms. The bathrooms are in a great need of an update. The shower was hot and then cold water constantly. The pillows on the beds were so uncomfortable. After sitting on the beach all day you always want to come back to comfort in your room and that did not happen. The food situation was average. Not a very large selection with the buffet. Again the best part of Friendly Vallarta is the fantastic staff. If the resort could get a few updates we would definitely be back. Add another bar and update rooms.
