not to bad but not great either
The location of the hotel is great if you plan on staying there entire time. However, if you want to get to center where all the fun stuff are or even further where you take cruses you will have to take a bus or taxi every day. The staff were nice however some of them didnt speak english or simply didnt bother speak it seeing my husbend who is Hispanic. Guess what? I dont speak spanish...Food was ok...every night is a theme. When we decided to eat dinner that night at the hotel it was bbq night. My food was tottaly cold...it was better to stay there but eat somewhere else. The view from hotel room was amazing but bathroom was old and smelled like sewer...overall i would not recomended...most hotels in Puerto Vallarta has ocean view but this one needs update. It is old and little stinky...i would not go there again if i go back to Vallarta

Family Vacation
The hotel is beautiful and we enjoyed the pool and the lagoon out front. Three of our group did however get sick for a couple of days each which was not good. Only takes a short trip by bus to get into town. Personally I could have stayed a few extra days but maybe next time.

Empty nesters travel
What others have said is true--the views are gorgeous, all ocean front. Nice restaurant on site, staff treated us like royalty. Plenty of friendly people to meet, they ring the bell for the start of Hapy Hour. You can take a bus north a couple of miles to downtown or south to Mismaloya Beach. Not for young people who are looking for nightlife, but a lovely experience for those of us who appreciate the charm of a quiet seaside resort.

Relaxing Puerta Vallarta destination!
The room at this hotel was absolutely amazing! We had never stayed in a one bedroom suite in Mexico and it was well worth the extra money. We had a full kitchen in our room so we were able to have coffee and breakfast every morning while watching the sun come up. The bed was very comfortable and everyone at the hotel was super helpful. We would absolutely stay here again!

The zoo in Puerta Vallarta is a must see! Only a 70 peso taxi ride (don't take the bus unless you want a LONG walk) and it was well worth it.

Comfy and Nice
We stayed at this hotel and it is a pretty nice place. The hotel has a restaurant with top-notch staff who are very friendly and the cooks are great. Great good quality food, taste, and presentation. Their chef must be a true professional! Front desk staff were a bit below average and have much to learn in terms of customer service. Front desk needs to learn from their Restaurant and the maid Staff, who were very pleasant and nice. Upon check-in Mr. Arturo copied our credit card and wanted us to sign a blank credit card receipt with an amount he wanted to fill out later. I refused to do so and he said I had to so I would sign it with the amount box crossed out (so that he cannot make up an amount and charge us). He was upset but moved on. The hotel resort itself is nice. It is in a place that has nothing much around and walking on the roads to get elsewhere is not easy as there are no sidewalks. Most people stay at the resort. There is a bus that goes to town, if needed, and taxi cabs available for those who want to travel around. They have a mini-mart with small verities of items. Mainly we used it to buy water. The food in there is not fresh/old and one item we got had little ants/insects inside. No issues with the water, as that was out main and only drinking source. Other than the bad food in the mini-mart and the unpleasant front desk staff, we had a great time overlooking the ocean and enjoyed wonderful restaurant food at the resort. Weather could have been a bit better but that is something I cannot complain about in rating this hotel.

Happy Base Camper
Convenient Base Camp
I've stayed at Costa Sur twice. It appeals to me because it's perfectly located for a base camp or for just relaxing. It's on the beach, yet the bus stops in front and there's always a taxi available. It's far enough from town to ensure a little quiet and less vendors, yet it's an easy beach walk (about 2 mi.) to town. The pool area is relaxing and has a bar and outdoor restaurant. Popcorn is served at 5pm, and some nights have music and dancing. It attracts an older crowd, of which I'm sure I am probably MUCH too young to be part of. But I like to relax here, whether it's by the pool or from my room's ocean view balcony.
