Poorly maintained hotel on a great beach
Hotel is rundown and dirty. The interior and exterior has been neglected. The basic amenities were missing or broken. The view is great. The beach area is great with good service from the beach bar staff.

We Love PV
Location, location nothing special otherwise
The hotel is in a great location, nothing to write home about, construction begins next door around 8am and banging all day. Andre the bar manager upstairs was beyond amazing. He gave us the best service in PV all while managing his staff and the entertainment. Give that man a raise. This was our third time but probably our last for Blue Chairs. Condos seem to be a better value and are really close to the beach.

Don't believe the negative reviews!
My partner and I have been to PV several times and never stayed at the Blue Chairs until this trip. When we left, we decided we wouldn't stay anywhere else! The staff is amazing (special thanks to Erika & Alfredo) And the waiters at the beach are great (thanks Fransisco & Luis). We had a bit of a medical emergency while on vacation and the staff directed us to the closest emergency room ( Med Assist on Insurgente) and when my partner was admitted overnight, the Blue chairs had flowers sent (delivered by Erika from the desk) It meant a lot to him! After the hospital stay they were asking how he was feeling and if they could do anything. NOW...this is not a marriott, it's a hotel in the old part of town, so don't expect a chocolate on your pillow every night, but it was clean, comfortable, we had hot water every day (contrary to the reviews we read) The elevator is definetly old and could probably be replaced, but it worked and we often took the stairs anyway. Overall, a great experience and would definetly come back......see ya next year BC.

Overall Good Experience - Great for first time visitors
The hotel was right on the beach, so that was THE major benefit of the hotel. The Romantic Zone in PV is pretty compact and that made thelocation "at the end of the town" OK. We had a jr suite with "ocean view", but since it was on the second floor, you could only see the ocean from part of the balcony (the blue chairs restaurant was in front of our room so we were slightly obstructed). We still enjoyed the room - it was one of the updated rooms - I guess all are not. It is a bit noisy with the construction on the adjacent property (which I understand has been going on for over 4 years), but nothing that was too inconvenient. The AC worked fine and if the noise did get too loud, we closed the patio door, turned on the AC and the TV and all was good. Above all, the staff is excellent, Erica's happy attitude and Alex's friendly smile were great and our check in host (sorry - forgot his name) was very friendly and accomidating. - we felt very welcome. Our room was cleaned very nicely every day. Overall a very good experience. Not the cheepest place in town, but they get it right.

LGBT vacation
The staff at the hotel was very nice. There were many problems - 1) Only one key for 2 of us and it took 4 days for us to get a second copy that worked. 2) Argument over room selection occurred- we had an email from reservations that we could have 2 double beds but upon arrival there was an argument about giving us a single King size bed. 3) Original room was musty. 4) The room we stayed in looked like the door had been busted in with 4 door jams needed to keep shut. Proximity to the beach was great. The happy hour on the 6th floor fantastic. The place looks like its undergoing major expansion so the problems may be temporary

The Decline of the Blue Chairs Hotel
We have just ended our fourth vacation at the Blue Chairs Hotel in Puerto Vallarta, and this will be our last. Over the past few years Blue Chairs Hotel has gotten progressively worse. This year was the absolute worst. The hotel is so poorly managed that there is a constant mix-up at the front desk. A year earlier, for our 2011 holiday reservations, we reserved the "Jr. Suite" which we had had in the past. We made those reservations on January 3, 2011, asking for assurances that we would get Room 301 -- the Jr. Suite. It was guaranteed. Then when arriving on December 27, 2011, we were told that there was a mix-up and the room had been given to somebody else. During that stay, Blue Chairs had charged for two more days than we were staying, but they would not reverse the charges for those unused days. Instead, they gave us a card saying that we would have a "credit" of 3,700 pesos if used within one year. When we asked to use that credit this year, I was astonished that they wanted to deny our use of that. In a word, the Blue Chairs management is dysfunctional and ineffective. The locaton of Blue Chairs is excellent, but there are many other lodging accommodations in that immediate area which are available for the same or much less cost.

Party Warning!
The too loud music from the bar housed in the hotel was an intrusion on any any attempts to get early and restful sleep or to experience any quiet moments with the sounds of the ocean at night. I had to wait until the bar closed and the music was silenced before strolling and appreciating the night magic along the the beach @ at night for those special moments we yearn and search for when one is on vacation. A notification that the bar closed a 11pm would have been greatly appreciated.
