Not a 5 star hotel
It is advertised as a 5 star but in reality you do not get 5 star unless you take the privilege package they offer. There was only beer in the room, nothing to eat from 4 to 6pm after they close lunch and get ready for dinner. You have to go to your room and order food from there (what about if you are at the pool or somewhere else?) Some restaurants had a 50 min waiting time to eat (unacceptable). the chairs at the pool were in the sun, no shade! and you cannot used the beds by the pool or the beach unless you are privelege, also only privilege have acces to the teppanyaki tables at the japannesse restaurant. the botton part of my swimsute was stolen from the balcony!! No entertainment in the pool

My Wife & I could not have chosen a better place to celebrate our honeymoon! Service was top of the line, food was very good with many different options to choose from. Drinks are great & every one that we met was friendly, talkative, & happy with this resort. After our wedding, all we wanted was a beautiful relaxing vacation & at Valentin you never need to leave cause there is always fun activities & shows going on while laying back & relaxing. Also, for those of you who want excursions Valentin is located by many different areas for fun excursions. We plan to come back in a couple of years with friends & family & try a few excursions which we heard from other couple where fun!

Second time is a charm
My first visit was in 2011 and my expectations were high.My concern was that resort would slack service and comfort as the years passed. Although things have changed, I was pleased that it was in a positive way. Had a great time.

Rooms stink of mildew and mold!
The grounds are lovely. The entertainment and after dinner experience it above average. The food is just okay during the day - only buffet available for lunch and dinner. The dinners are better, we liked Gingers (asian) and the French the best. The pool is pretty to look at but for a resort this new it is in rather bad repair. Loose tiles, very dirty, probably oil from sun block but nontheless I fell twice (pre-tequila) on the pool steps. Generally the staff was okay, nothing special and in no hurry to fix the fact that our room smelled like mold and mildew. After 2 hours of talk and complaints they finally moved us to another room and guess what? Same terrible smell. We moved again the next morning to another room in building 8 and it was fine, but a long walk from there to the pool, lobby, and restraunts. Probably wouldn't go back here.

The Magistrator
Great service in a clean, classy resort
This resort was perfect for adult couples just looking for a romantic getaway. It had beach bars which were great during the day and also at night when opened for dancing. I also enjoyed their cigar bar. The restaurants were diverse and had great food. The concierge was available during extended hours. Make sure to bring long pants for dinner as most restaurants have a dress code. And don't wait to buy sunscreen at the resort as we ended up having to pay like $20 for that.

Very Good Adults-Only All Inclusve
We have never stayed at the Valentin but have stayed at many others in Riviera Maya. We are a couple in our 40s and usually go with another couple in their 40s. All of the places have pros and cons depending on what you like, but the Valentin was right there with Secrets Maroma Beach and Iberostar Grand Paraiso. The property is large with a huge pool, beach area, lots of bars and restaurants. Food was good not great but none of these places are 5 star restaurants. Entertainment was fine but they have a big courtyard vs a room in a building. The price was right so we tried it and were happy. When we go back it will be on the list to go back to.

Superbly relaxing
This was *by far* the best all-inclusive we have stayed at (and we have stayed at quite a few). The resort was absolutely lovely, the food was fantastic and the staff was friendly and attentive. We look forward to a return visit to the Valentin Imperial Maya in the future.
