Hotel was very nice. Staff is superb. Room did not have a clock which was inconvenient. There was no parking close be which we did not realize until we had spent a great deal of time driving around the one way streets. Ending up parking 2.5 blocks away which was fine, just would have been nice to know ahead. You cannot drive any closer to the hotel than 2 blocks. Restaurants and shops and the beach are all around the Illusion making it a great place to stay. Breakfast was terrific.

My family of 4 stayed one weak. It was a great location. Plan to pay more for everything if you book in downtown Playa Del Carmen; it caters to Europeans and the wealthy. Great place to people watch. Bring your 4 inch heels and a thong bikini! If you want to shop, and have money to blow this is the place.

my wife and i just returned from an all inclusive for 10 days and then went to illusions for five days ; for the most part it was nice - some hidden fees like room deposit of 50.00 dollars which they should state on there web site and the chairs at the resorts that are offered require a minimum spending fee of 20.00 per day in food or drink in exchange for use of them ; also there are bikes at the hotel but a fee not included in pricing ; rooms are very clean and the breakfast is nice staff is nice also- beds are very hard - could be alot soffter! we would recommend this hotel to others - also very close to beach

It's smack dab right in the middle between the beach and 5th avenue. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. I was upgraded to the Cabana on the roof top, it is the only room with fantastic ocean views. It was amazing and beautiful and I would stay there again.

We stayed 3 nights and it wad a good experience. Close to beach and you can get in the Mosquito club for free. Good continental breakfast. The room wasn' t very clean the first day but it was ok the rest. It always smell weird. Overall good for what you pay

My 2nd time staying in this hotel. Really enjoyed the location and the staff is very attentive, friendly, and accomodating. 24 hour security as well. Steps to the beach and excellent beach clubs, as well as all the shops & restaurants on 5th Ave. Also, if you take the nice $9 ADA bus from the airport, you can walk the 5 blocks to the hotel from bus station easily, then just cab back to the airport on your return.

The staff helped in everything and the location was excellent when you are a fan from the 5 da avenida.

Will definitely stay at this hotel again. Staff is amazing, all extremely friendly, and very attentive. Hotel is very clean and tidy, right near the middle of town & right off beach. Very secure as someone always at the desk when I entered even late night. Open air area in middle of hotel to sky and the roof, where a small wade pool and lounge chairs await. Opt for the contential breakfast that comes w/ juice, coffee, tea yogarts w/ topings, and attendents served fruit in a canister w/ bread and/or pastry on individual trays.. hearty enough to begin the day. Was surprised to return to my room one day and find it decorated w/ ballons all about my bed for my birthday. This hotel values their guest and it shows. Can't wait to return.

We chose this hotel as its very close to the 5th Avenue-playa del carmen's downtown and also because its close to the beach. Everything was pretty close and we didnt have to walk much for anything...Restaurants, travel reservations(for tulum/xel-ha/chitchen-itza etc., tours), shopping..Staff were friendly and they helped us in booking a cab going back..But our room didnt have much ocean view. We cared less as we were out most of the time..We paid a little extra for room with balcony but we realized later it was not necessary as we never really used it..There is a small pool on the top floor. Breakfast was ok..Not great..There is a bus station close to the hotel too..Minutes walk...So you can take a bus from airport to the bus station which is much cheaper than a cab...
