Excellent Resort

But keep the following in mind: - The beach is pretty bad: It's rocky in many sections, and the waves are too high. Plus it's turbulent if you are trying to snorkel. It would be a good surfing beach if you are into surfing. - The resort is somewhat removed from Mazatlan. There is a free shuttle, but it does force you to be less spontaneous about your planning!

Beautiful Property

The grounds, the pools and the buildings are all spectacular. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The only thing that we felt was not up to par was the food. It was average at best.

Great Private getawat

Hotel and Staff were excellent. Pools and food great. Not much night life. Spa facility is excellent. You need to know that this is a time share facility so you will be approached to purchase. Weather at Thanksgiving time of year was fabulous. It is not near down town so a taxi ride is required to get there, but they do have shuttle between this location and their downtown location.

DO NOT PAY US DOLLARS FOR THE ALL INCLUSIVE

Paid in advance for the all inclusive which was not a problem. When arrived, we were told if we were to take the timeshare tour, they would drop the price to $40.00 per day per person. (there were 4 of us).Awesome deal. After the presentation was over, we were to go and collect our credit. Well, after several attempts to get our money back in US DOLLARS, they told us if they issued our credit back to my credit card, we would receive our credit in US DOLLARS. I received my credit card statement today. I was almost $100.00 dollars short. Made several attempts to contact the company, I never received a response. This is pretty lousey considering I am a Pueblo Bonito owner.

Location Good, Reservation Trouble

When my husband and I arrived to the Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay resort on July 2, 2011, the hotel front desk said they did not have our reservation. We confirmed our reservation the day before and had the reservation created since December 2010. The front desk said they had nothing reserved for us and that they would "take our word as a promise" that we did have an existing reservation. We luckily had the reservation information on paper with us to prove it. This upset us because we paid a lot to stay at this resort and the last thing we wanted to hear was that our reservation didn't exist. The treatment of the hotel staff was also "conditional" and my husband and I didn't feel welcome. We felt like we were doing them a favor. They said that the "reservations people" would not be at the hotel until Monday and my husband and I arrived on that Saturday night. After we met with the manager, several things were straightened out, however, this didn't change the fact that they didn't have our reservation in the first place. We didn't get any directions about the resort, any acitivity listings or any information about the resort. My husband and I expected something GREAT out of this resort that is why we paid so much. I don't think anyone would be happy if they arrived on the first day to find out that a reservation doesn't exist and you get pushed aside. The manager did a good job trying to make up for the mistake, but we advised him to check with the reservations and see what went wrong. This kind of situation shouldn't be repeated if they are expecting to get a good review. I couldn't give them a good review because the whole week gave a bad taste in my mouth. My husband and I planned a whole week of paradise in this resort over the past 6 months to find out that all this time our needs were not met. I don't think anyone would like to be put in this situation. The entertainment was good and the hotel staff changed once we filed our complaints to the manager. But it doesn't change the treatment. It was like walking on pins and needles the whole time, like you were staying there and causing problems when all you wanted was a nice week getaway with no issues.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

If you want hotel transfers from Airport, make sure you let the resort know plenty in advance, otherwise you will have to rent a car. Emerald Bay is quite far from the airport!

Generally good with some caveats

Experience was generally good. The facilities were very nice overall. My wife and I had a difference of opinion on the outdoor only showers (I wasn't bothered but she didn't care for them). I was disappointed with how my transport to the airport was handled.
