Great Family Vacation!

The resort itself is spectacular. The kids really enjoyed the pools and activities. However, the beach was quite rocky for the most part which made it hard to enjoy. That didn't take anything away from the majestic sunsets. The food was overpriced, so unless you get the all inclusive, it's really easy to rack up a bill. Finally, the location makes it a bit inconvenient to have access to the town; but, if what you want is seclusion, then, this is totally for you.

Gorgeous PB Emerald Bay

This is one of the most beautiful resorts we've ever visited! The neoclassical/Spanish colonial architecture of the buildings, gorgeous landscaping, Greek statues and multiple swimming pools, waterfalls, koi ponds, birds and tropical flowers take your breath away! The restaurants were excellent and the service was great!

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Take the daytrip to Stone Island (Isla de la Piedra), which has a rural village with the world's best beach with shallow, warm waters stretching for miles. The banana boat ride is great fun.

My review of Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay

Arguably the nicest hotel grounds in Mazatlan and the quietest as the hotel is away from the road. Great location for hanging around the pool or a sunset beach-walk. Ocean here is cleaner than in the Golden Zone. Shuttle bus to town is convenient. Hotel restaurant is a decent value for what you get when ordering a la carte. Dinner buffets perhaps less of a value. The main negative thing about staying at Emerald Bay is the seemingly paper-thin walls. Ask for a quiet room (e.g. top floor room or a room on the end of a bldg.) when checking in. Generally older people stay here, along with a few families with kids. If you're looking for party-action, you're better off staying in the Golden Zone.
