Enjoy the incredible views and sound of the Caribbean waters, sink your toes into the loveliest white sand full of tiny colorful shells. Admire the sunrise from your room; let your footprints be the first on the beach, let yourself go... This small property is ideally located on the secluded Half Moon Beach; on the Northern tip of Isla Mujeres.
The half Moon Beach; took its shape from being a natural barrier reef with vibrant undersea life. Downtown area is only four blocks south. Find a treasure waiting into the little handicraft and jewelry shops and enjoy restaurants of every specialty.
A two minutes walk from your room takes you to the reef protected north beach with its calm, shallow turquoise waters ideal for swimming. Take advantage of your roofed terrace on a beach chair or lying in a fresh Mayan hammock while you surrender to the sound of the ocean or even better; get a relaxing massage in the privacy of your own terrace. A wide variety of tropical drinks is available to order from your room or while you are resting by the pool. The fresh water pool seems to hover over the ocean inviting you to skin into its waters.
Complimentary continental breakfast is served in the hotels dining room for a better start of your daily stay with Hotel Playa La Media Luna.

Isla is our Paradise
Not as pictured
The room was old, couldn't adjust the color on the TV so we had to watch a yellow TV all week. The floors were so dirty we has to wash our feet before going to bed every night. The fridge made an annoying noise about every hour so we didn't get much sleep the 1st few days, think we finally got used to it by the end of the week. The reviews raved about the beds being comfy; what a joke they were hard and lumpy. The only thing good about this Hotel is the view. Our previous trip we stayed at the Privilege Aluxes and it was gorgeous, very clean, nice TV and no weird noises from the fridge, guess where we will be staying when we return?????? We do love Isla Mujeres.

Outstanding location
We had a wonderful time staying at Hotel Playa de la Media Luna. We were looking right out on a small secluded beach and fell asleep each night to the crashing of the waves. The room was clean and comfortable, although the shower never got warmer than tepid. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is perfect as it is just a short walk from all the main beaches and the downtown. We definitely intend to revisit.

Beautiful location and view. Close enough to the action!
My girlfriend and i just stayed at Media Luna and were wholly impressed. We stayed in room 2. Room 2 was a ground floor 2 double beds room. We open up our patio door and have a personal hammock. 20 feet farther is a pristine pool overlooking the waves crashing from the Caribbean. Normally when we are on Isla Mujeres we wake up and leave the hotel and head to North Beach (Chi Chi Charlies). Not this time. We will go to Hotel Playa Media Luna again!!!!

Sightseeing tip:
Short drive from hotel
If you rent a golf cart, go visit the Middle and South points of the island. There are Beach Clubs all up and down the East side where you can have a cocktail and feel as if you own the island. Playa Mexico was our favorite. Daily from 12-2 Playa Mexico has tours from Cancun boat over for $13 USD all you can eat and drink. Join right in and save some money!!! any other time the beach club is all yours!!!!!

PERFECT BEACH HOTEL FOR RELAXING VACATION!
Oh, wow what can we say, except this little hotel was wonderful. We arrived on March 27th and stayed 7 nights. We were surprised that it looked better on site than in the pics. The view is gorgeous and you can sleep with the windows open and listen to the ocean waves all the time. The place only has 20 rooms and they are all ocean view. We had a ground level floor with a very comfortable King Bed, Room #10. Very romantic, nice big walk-in tiled shower. It had a patio with hammock and chairs and was a perfect view of the pool and ocean. We loved the convenience of having a fridge, so that we could come to our room for drinks. The beach in front of the pool area is lovely and small, but you can walk a path to the north beach with no problem. Or you can walk to the south and walk the malecon. The room was cleaned every day and we had plenty of towels. The free continental breakfast is good too. Fruit, toast, donuts, or rolls and coffee and tea. We definitely will stay here again, because it was so relaxing and not crowded and felt very private.

There are plenty of restaurants nearby on Hildago Ave. It is a street that is blocked off from traffic. You will find something to eat for sure. We walked everywhere. Rent a golf cart for the day or 24 hrs and go around the island. Lots of fun!

Perfect Location!
Best of all worlds! Great view if you like to watch the waves roll in. Quite, uncrowded location if you want to be left alone. Perfect if you like to go for long walks along the beach in either direction. Close to North Beach if you like the crowded beach scene. Easy walk to "restaurant row" for dining. Comfortable beds. Nice pool. What more could you ask for. We'll be back!

Use ATMs to get your pesos rather than pay in dollars and get ripped off on the exchange rate. The ATMs always give you the up to the minute real exchange rate.

Soft beds (in Mexico)!!!
Our second time at Hotel Playa La Media Luna. Our first stay in 2005 included the typical brick-hard Mexican hotel bed. I expect the same, but was I surprised! Both beds in my standard room had memory foam mattress toppers under the sheets. Nice touch!!! Location is still great, fridge in room is nice. Hotel was full, but it didn't feel like it.

Hurricane Rina crisis avoided
We really like this hotel and couldn't wait for this visit. Unfortunately they had begun preparing for Hurricane Rina and had deck chairs stored. On October 25 we were told that the hotel had to close as the storm was approaching and they had no idea how bad it would be. They helped guests make arrangements to leave the island for other hotels or airline changes. They let guests use their phones and computers which was a great help to many. We chose to stay on the island and they called ahead for a room for us. They also advised us on buying water and nonperishable food for 4 days incase the island lost water and power. We moved to another hotel and were pleased with our two nights there. We can't wait for our next trip to Isla Mujeres and will definately stay at Hotel Media la Luna. The perfect place: peaceful, beautiful views, clean rooms, grounds and the staff couldn't be nicer.

Some of the best food I've ever had is along Medina (where the fishing boats are tied) or along Hidalgo. Don't go all inclusive at any hotel on Isla Mujeres.

hotel was beautiful we loved our stay
this was the perfect spot! in town was hot and sticky but when you started to walk up the hill to the hotel...the cool sea breeze hit you with a cool calming effect...our patio faced the freshwater pool which faced the sea...it was a beautiful veiw...dont remember EVER spending so much time at a hotel. not to mention we got all our day trips and golf cart at a dicount through the hotel. we swam with the whale sharks through Happy Tours...I'd have to say it was one of the coolest experiences of my life. the staff and grounds were perfect and very accommodting...for single travelers, families and couples such as ourselves. perfect location!

take the first left coming down the hill towards town (from the hotel). take that street to its end and there is a little market that has almost all the same things you can get on hidalgo st. or the street facing the ferry (as soon as you get off on the island)...at his market the people are not pushy or rude and you can get your gifts and souveniers at about a third of the price but the same quality (if not better)...because they do not have to pay comissions to the captains bringing over day-trippers from cancun. the ladys are even sowing, making blankets, and hammocks right in their little areas....you can even pick your material for your dress or cover up...this my friends it the real deal!

Isla me gusta!
Great view, great staff, great value!
Highly recommended! This was our fourth trip to Isla Mujeres, but our first stay at the Hotel La Playa Media Luna. We stayed with our girls (4 and 7) in a standard room with 2 doubles. The views from the hotel balcony were quite simply stunning and the pool area is wonderfully open and airy, with more great views of the sea. The easterly winds off the Caribbean are strong enough here that despite very warm weather 81f/27c we only used air conditioning once. Being lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves of the ocean was execellent. The hotel staff are very professional and pleasant and the hotel rate includes great extras like daily continental breakfast and plush beach towels. The hotel is located a few short blocks walk fro Ave Hidalgo and the main waterfront at Ave Rue Medina where most restaurants are. Also there is easy acces to the beach from the pool area (although the beach off the hotel is not great for swiming)' and so wonderful walks can be had along Playa Secreto and Playa Norte or in the other direction along the Malecon to the town square.

Island Charm
This hotel has so much going for it. Absolutely charming place. No cookie cutter hotel here. Wonderful details like balconies with hammocks, large and comfortable sun loungers, and a semi-private beach. Only 18 rooms, so not a party type atmosphere, but oh so relaxing. Only one downfall is that there is not a restaurant or bar on site. There is a deck with a bar area but it was never staffed while we were there. There is a continental breakfast area during morning, but wasn't well stocked (more fruit and bread choices would be nice)
