romantic, secluded, paradise

The location of this hotel is perfection. The ocean is on all 4 sides of the hotel. The staff waited on us hand and foot. Don't miss out on the romantic dinner on the beach one night of your visit. Staff sets up table, candles and torches with the sunset as your backdrop. Spend the extra $ and get a villa room on the caribbean side. You hear the waves crashing against the rocks all night long with your own private balcaony. The beach is fantastic. Water clear up to your chest. great snorkling just off the beach. Quiet relaxed place. Reccomend 110%.

north end of Isla Mujeres

Good stuff: Probably the best beach on Isla Mujeres, with your own protected lagoon. GREAT diving (lots of fish) just off the ocean-side, as long as you're prepared for possibly stiff current.....HOT water....Comfy bed....Nice breakfast buffet.....4 minute walk from Calle Hidalgo, the restaurant/store street. Windows open - not screwed shut....A/C works well....Pleasant staff. Not so good stuff: No ceiling fan. (Tough to get comfortable with windows open on hot nights, Need to shut windows & use the A/C.)

Freddy's - at the north end of Calle Hidalgo. Small, unpretentious place BUT the cook is friendly and humorous, and the meals are really good with large portions. Decent prices.

Great Hotel!!!!

I love this place to stay. Beautifull view, you have ocean around the hotel... the Swimming pool is not big but you have 2 natural swimming pools in the sea really nice place to watch the sunset, scuba or if you have children they will have a lot of fun. Breakfast in the hotel was good, all kind of eggs and the guy very professional. We love the restaurant in front of the hotel they have very delicious food and nice environment. If you rent a car you can have access to a various trips inside the island very economic. Check the "insider tip" Lovely sunsets at the bar. Beach towels are the best! Breakfast until 11:30 so good, you dont have to wake up early and run!!! We have a lot of fun!!

In the Hotel you can buy scuba glasses and in the natural swimming pool you can swim with all kind of fish! At the end of the island you can find ruins the entrance is really cheap, like swimming with a shark cost $5 and you can go to see turtles for a very reasonable price too like $4. They have laundry in the island really cheap, and about the Ferry, never took a night flight to get there, because the last ferry is at 8:30 if you want to pass your car the other one is at 11:30 but the car needs to stay in Cancun. GPS works fine but you also can take with you a cellphone with a gps and buy a phone card with internet plan and use it instead of gps. A lot of places for children in the beach, really safe place.

Great Location, building needs improvement

My wife and I stayed at this resort in the "villas" last year and it was great. This year we were in the "main tower" and it was less than great. The A/C makes tremendous noise but does not cool well and the plumbing does very strange things. The location however is excellent. The hotel sits on an island of it's own and has great shallow water snorkeling with no significant current. Downtown food and shopping are a short walk away.

Very bad service

It seemed to us that his hotel might be going out of business. Eventhough it was a low season they still should keep services at least standard. I'll never go back and stay at this hotel.

The View!!

It's on a tiny island off of an island. There is a wooden bridge to connect it to Isla Mujeres. You are surrounded by beautiful blue water. Perfect for kids because the water is shallow and they can snorkel and chase the fish. The stone and ceramic building is aging but everything is kept in good shape. Very quiet and relaxing. The food in the restaurant was good and the drinks were reasonable. You can sit in the lounge chairs by the water and the waiters will bring you drinks. Very good value for the money.

perfect for couples

I just came back from Isla Mujeres yesterday and my fiance and I had such a s blast. THE ROOM : if you are looking for "plushness" avalon is not the place. The hotel is simple, like a motel, wooden dressors, old tube television , and one hard bed, with hard sheets, blow dryer, coffee maker and mirror. Now Im a person that's love the plush feeling however the resort itself ,the location of the resort and the views were so AWESOME that i didnt care about the simplicity of the room. THE FOOD: The food on the resort is great , there no NO ALL INCLUSIVE OPTION, however being in the town don't worry about all inclusive because there are so many good kitchens, restaurants in the area, and the food in town is not expensive at all( places to eat) MoCambo, Brisa Mexicana( have the 2 for 1 surf and turf), puc -chuc( have the pescado asado), and The Patio.THE WEATHER: 80 degree weather each day. DON'T rent a car. People in Isla Mujeres rent golf carts and mopeds to travel everywhere. $45 for 24 hrs. get a gold cart and travel the entire island. THE SPA: for some reason we didn't see the spa in the hotel open at all. but so what a guy named Alfredo give massages on the beach on the main strip for $40 for an hour . You can go to Yoga for alittle nothing across the way at the hotel NaBalam.. Isla mujeres is beautiful regardless of what hotel you stay at!!! Theres really not much partying going on at night, just people selling stuff and small bars playing live music
