Cozumel’s largest swimming pool and private pier at luxurious resort
The heart of the colorful all-inclusive Hotel Cozumel and Resort is the swimming pool, which is the largest in Cozumel. However, the private pier from which guests dive right into the ocean is a highlight, too. All diving needs and wants are fully met on site via a PADI full-service center, Dive Paradise, which has been operating in Cozumel continuously since 1984. Families dive together or kids can hang back at the hotel's designated program.
Highlights
- Dive Paradise includes a private pier and full-service PADI center
- Largest swimming pool in Cozumel
- Three on-site restaurants and lounge
- Kid's program with supervised activities
Rooms
The 181 rooms in this coral-covered seaside majesty were remodeled in 2009; 10 of which are fully accessible. Accessible bathrooms feature a wheel-in shower with an adjustable orthopedic bench, shower, toilet security bars and accessible washbasin. The Hotel Cozumel and Resort also is equipped with ramps. Suites host up to four guests and have marble finished bathrooms with bathtubs, a dining area and a fully-equipped kitchen. Garden or pool view rooms boast private balconies.
Dining
The only guidelines for meals at the Hotel Cozumel and Resort are that guests wear shoes and dry clothes. Los Girasoles has an airy open seating area facing the ocean. Los Pericos Grill is poolside, serving snacks and beverages between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.Recreation
Divers visiting the hotel may use the on-site rinse tanks, hangers for draining diving gear, fresh water showers and the 150 lockers to keep all diving gear safe. The large swimming pool is used by the ChanKaanab underwater park's Dolphinarium as a hurricane shelter for its dolphins during tropical hurricane season.Transportation

Mediocore Hotel Coz
The overall feel of the hotel was ok. I'd say its for budget travelers...though if this is your first "all inclusive" trip dont let this hotel be your first experience. The food options were not the best. Breakfast offered the most variety. Lunch always consisted of some type of faijta. The gucamole was very good though and probably one of the highlights of the trip for my partner. The drinks were watered down. They reserve top shelf liquore for certain "paying" packages. The rooms were ok, the hotel can use some updating and can be cleaner. I did love the wireless internet access.

Always a Pleasure
This was my third stay at Hotel Cozumel and resort, and the best so far. (Maybe because I went by myself.) The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was always well cleaned. The pool is enormous, and well kept. The food is mediocre and rather bland. It's probably geared toward most American palates. That being said, this is a great launching point to explore other restaurants on the island and get some real food. Ask the staff where they like to eat or hang out and drink. I tend to choose places where there are little or no Gringos. The locals are the warmest, most ingratiating people I have ever met.

Otates and Los Seras have awesome authentic food. La Parilla Mission is cheap and wonderful. Paprika's, down the road, away from San Miguel, serves absolutely fresh Caribbean food. El Gato Negro for botanas.

convienient location
First few days I had loud neighbors that stayed up all night. The hotel took care of it as soon as I complained at three in the morning. The hotel was well kept and the staff courteous. Located within walking distance of town and all dive operations will pick up at the hotels pier.

Cozumel is overrated
Hotel Cozumel and Resort is old and stuffy. It should have been rated 2.5 stars. Upon arrival, we let management know that there were bed bugs on the bed. They offered us another room but the bedding was even worse...worn out egg crate type of cushion layer thrown on top of the old mattress. No one from the hotel came to see what our concerns were. To me, this implied that this was the standard at this old hotel. Our room furniture and decor was dated with rust forming on the exposed metal lining of the lamp shade. Upon arrival, we heard another guest complaining that his hot water has been out for 2 days. Later that evening, ours went out as well. Management said that they were working on it but didn't offer any consolation. Again, these incidents really suggest that this is a very low and basic hotel...don't call it a resort because it does not resemble one. Whoever designates the hotel ratings need to reconsider this one.

Nice Clean and affordable
Hotel Cozumel is nice to look at, some of the details are not four star quality, but neither is the price. Overall it's a very good hotel and very affordable. The service is wonderful and they are close to town so walking there is easy.

FANTASTIC FAMILY TRIP !!!
I would like to say that I had read a lot of the reviews about Hotel Cozumel and didn't really know what we were getting into, but we loved it! My husband and I had been planing this trip for our family for awhile now and it was AMAZING! Everyone at the hotel and restaurant did a great job of making us feel welcome. The kids loved it they went snorkeling every day. The hotel set us up for Deep Sea Fishing trips, and we brought the fish back, the chef made us an AMAZING dinner. The entertainment staff had great shows every night, and tons of fun things to do during the day.

Not a Four Star
We have had a better experience before at this hotel. This time we were without hot water for several days and the TV stations kept chaning on us. The food left a lot to be desired, with very little changes in the menu. We were there to dive and although the dive shop was good, we have had better diving experiences there. I also came home with a nasty ear infection. It was not the best of trips this time.

Very nice vacation spot
Very nice ocean-view room, kept very clean daily. Wonderful pool. Very polite and helpful staff, we used excursion and rental car staff. Nice snorkeling behind hotel; even went at night. About a mile walk to town square; is fun to shop and eat at. We eat breakfast at hotel; not other meals. We don't really care for the other meals, plus like to explore different eating places on island. We have stayed here several times and have made friends with several staff persons here. Is like home away from home for us.

Clean and Comfortable
This was my second stay at the hotel in three years. I was apprehensive as the first stay was less than impressive. Yet, I was needing a convenient place which would not charge a single suppliment. I was pleasantly surprised by a few changes and was most pleased with the stay. I went on a spur of the moment last minute dive trip. The Hotel is convenient for diving with an excellent rinse tank & dive locker area. The entire waterfront area has been widened, deepened and improved with palm trees, loungers and hammocks. Previous reviews complained about noise from the groups they host, but one merely needs to move down the beach a little to get out of earshot. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The food was average to good. There is plenty to eat. The beer is cold, the drinks are plentiful (pay extra for top shelf), and everything is served with a smile. I would have preferred more service at the beach and poolside. There were only two occassions when a server came around for an order. The staff at the facility is cheerful and helpful. I would stay here again given the same circumstances. I have stayed at the Iberostar, the Palace, El Cozumeleno, El Cid, Fiesta Americana, and Casa Del Mar. Each place has it's good and bad points and certainly each has it's own flavor. If you know what to expect, you can't be let down. This is a clean Hotel, close to town, with decent food, good service, and bargain pricing.
