Recreation
Scheduled activities allow families to play tennis, beach volley ball, sail or snorkel together. Or they may freestyle their fun at the kid’s waterpark or as live pieces on the on-site giant chess board. spring break 2012

The beach was very nice, clean, no rocks. There were alot of young children under 10. the nightly entertainment could use alot of improvement and there was always a line for drinks and the buffets another bartender and quicker seating for the buffet would solve these issues. Snorkleing in front of the resort not very exciting

Scuba Divers paradise

Allegro has an extraordinary location for Scuba Diver's: quite near to most beautiful coral reefs in Cozumel. The beach is great, surrounded by greenery to both sides. It would add up, if the hotel would provide with more shaded palapas both at the beach, as well as the swimming pools. The concept of bungalows is really nice, as well as having your own hamac at the room. The gardens are well kept. You are always listening to birds. Breakfast is quite good, but lunch menu needs to be improved, as well as dinner.

It Was Like a Camping Trip

We arrived and were super excited about being in Paradise! They wouldn't allow us to check in until 3:00pm. No biggie...they gave us towel cards and our wrist bands to go to the bar. We got our room at 3:00 and were more than surprised at the conditions of the room. The roof was a palapa (kind of cool for looks, but not a good idea for a roof...more on that later#. We got over the room quickly, showered, unpacked and were heading to the pool only to have the lobby call us to tell us that we were placed in the wrong room. Ummm not our fault, don't care. They cared. They said we didn't pay enough for that room #Ha!# and that the bell boy would be up in 2 minutes to retrieve us to place us in "our" room. Got to our room and it was IDENTICAL to the other but in a different location #all the way back of the property next to the maid building and the theater). Oh well we can handle it right? No, the toilet doesn't work and there was a nice ring of mold around the bath tub. Also, there were holes in the palapa roof. We still enjoyed the pool and the open bar and we were in paradise. Day 3 the power goes out in the entire complex. We ditch out to town after 4 hours of it. Thankfully when we returned our power was back on but there were areas of the resort that didn't get power for 2 days and some that never got the AC back in their rooms. Buffet food was OK but basically the same meals offered each day. Theater next to our room was insanely loud from 8:30pm-10pm. Pretty sure I cried the first night because I was so exhausted and wanted sleep. The night it rained was enough for us to almost pack up and leave the country. I woke up to a slow drip on the nightstand, then a large drip on the bed and then it was basically raining in the room. Called the front desk and they said they would try to relocate us but that they were totally full. One of our lights blew out due to the moisture. Lastly, don't forget the birds...at about 4:45am every morning they would wake us up with their squawking and pecking at the roof which would then flake off onto us sleeping below. We will not be visiting this resort or any of its affiliates ever again and would recommend others don't attempt it either.

The Lovely Allegro

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Allegro. Just walking through their beautiful well-kept grounds was pleasurable. The staff are working quietly and efficiently to keep the place in its lovely condition, yet they take the time for a friendly, "Hola". The food was plentiful and tasty and again the staff were welcoming and efficient. The rooms, though not huge, were clean and inviting and had nice little porches or balconies on which to read or have a drink or watch the wildlife. If you wanted lots of activity it was easy to arrange with the many helpful staff. The awesome "Parque Natural" is close by and was an amazing place to just visit and walk or swim with the dolphins! Swimming and snorkelling right off the beautiful beach front was so relaxing and fun.....being in the undersea world without having to travel was great. Though there is not a reef there, you can see interesting things if you take your time and just enjoy, which is what we did at the Allegro.

Visit the Natural Park nearby. It is so beautiful and clean and amazing. The snorkelling is excellent there with a lot to see. The wildlife is wonderful, especially the dolphins and manatees.

Scuba Trip 2013

Have stayed at the Allegro several times over the years and keep going back. The location to the secluded beach and the close proximity to the best dive operations and sites cannot be beat in my opinion. The staff at every position were friendly and extremely accomodating; obviously wanting to please and respresent their company very well. While I know there are newer and fancier hotels on the island now when all of the positives and negatives are considered the Allegro and the adjacent sister Occidental resorts score very high every time I evaluate staying somewhere else. Can recommend without qualification especially for those that enjoy the beach and diving and rank these as top priority.

Rent a car and drive around the island going South toward Punta Sur and just follow the road. There are many bars and restaurants to stop at along the way and places to view the pristine coastline and much more intimidating surf than on the protected West side. Continue up the East side and then head back West into town for shopping and where there are many good choices of restaurants, then stop at San Francisco beach or the National Park before completing the rectangular drive back Southward to the Allegro.

If you get a good rate - go for it.

Beach is very nice and well kept. Lunch was good. Dinner is a bit meh - but hey, if you can book it for cheap enough, you won't mind having meals at Palancar beach or some of the other places nearby. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Scuba diving trip

This was my third time at the Allegro. I go down to Cozumel for the scuba diving, and the Allegro is a great, all inclusive destination for scuba divers. My only complaint is the food. The quality of the ingredients is good, but the preparation is a little lacking. Very bland. I now bring Redmond RealSalt, a McCormick Black Peppercorn grinder and a bottle of Cholula Hot Sauce with me. With these spices in hand, your can season your food and make it much more enjoyable. The staff at the Allegro is great. They are quick to respond and take care of what you need. We dove with Pro Dive Mexico. They are the dive shop on the premises. This was my fourth time diving in Cozumel, and they are a top notch dive shop. The dive masters are very professional and friendly. Overall, a fantastic value. One last tip, bring some mosquito repellent. They like to come out and feast after sunset. Enjoy your trip! Chuck

Check out Coconuts on the East side of the Island. They are on the highest point on the island (all of maybe 100 feet above sea level). Fantastic view, and enjoyable food.

Great All-Inclusive Value

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights and it was great. The compound is beautiful and well keep, staff are friendly, and beach is great for Cozumel. We don't dive but there were tons of people there who said it was absolutely stunning. My only criticism is that the dining hall food is OK and gets old after a day or two. If you have the time/budget to go eat dinner in town, it is worth it. Two other pieces of advice: Bring your own insulated travel mug for drinks Make reservations when you check in for one of the restaurants at the hotel. Its better than the dining hall. Last, it

Make sure you get reservations for one of the restaurants in the hotel. The food at these restaurants is better than the dining hall and it doesn't cost anything extra for a 4 course meal.

Family vacation 2012

Don't waste your money at this hotel!! The beds are SUPER hard, even with the added cushion on the top. The walls are so thin, you can hear your neighbor sneeze. The food is HORRIBLE! We couldn't wait to get back home for some Hamburger Helper. The beach was beautiful, but not so good for snorkeling. The hotel looks nice, but not worth the money. We spent a lot in cab fares for activities and dinner. The resort is too far from everything. The beach bar closed at 7pm and the pool bar closed at 5pm. We paid extra to be closer to the beach. Not a good idea, because everything closed too early. We were there for 9 days. By day 5, we were on the phone with the airlines trying to get back home early. Even my 13 year old daughter was ready to come home. It was just one issue after another. I will pay extra to stay somewhere else. Please read all the reviews carefully, before you decide to book your trip. If you do not plan outside activities and are okay with hard beds and bad food, you might like this resort. We will not be back.
