The jewel in the crown of The Royal Resorts Cancun collection, The Royal Sands is an All Inclusive resort with a truly regal beachfront setting, five-star amenities and everything you need for Royal Relaxation.

The architectural design of this beachfront resort means that all 340 Suites have ocean views with breathtaking vistas of picture-perfect white sands and the turquoise waters of the Caribbean. The Royal Sands is located a stone's throw from Kukulcan Plaza shopping mall and a short walk from La Isla Shopping Village.

Leave your cares behind as you indulge in some Spa time. Take the plunge and enjoy Cancun's water sports, The Royal Sands Marina is opposite the resort on the shores of the lagoon. Relax poolside, play tennis and enjoy a tempting array of dining choices, theme nights and live entertainment with something different every night of the week.

Guests staying on Saturday night may need to change units. The hotel will work to avoid this scenario, but when necessary, management will work directly with guests to streamline this process.

Beach activities include volleyball and sand castle building and there are sun loungers and shade umbrellas. There are three large pools and separate children's pools, all of which are heated during the winter. Pool activities include water aerobics, pool volleyball and snorkeling demonstrations. The daily resort activity program features yoga, aerobics, crafts and beach fun. Sailboats are available at The Royal Sands Marina. Water sports such as snorkeling trips, scuba diving, windsurfing, fishing and boat trips can be arranged at the in-house travel agency. There are four lighted tennis courts at the resort and tennis gear can be signed out at the Sports Desk.

Had a great time at a lovely resort

We had a great vacation, when we first arrived we were a little shocked by the way they do their all inclusive, we were used to having an armband and that was it nothing else needed, we needed our room key for everything and that was a little annoying, but we got used to it. The resort is very pretty and everyone is very friendly. Food was very good compared to other all inclusives that we have been to, Idid not have noe meal that I didn't like. Some of the foods do have a surcharge (not everthing is included) but there is still a very large selection of food for you to choose from, and the surcharge is not that bad (such as an extra $10 USD for lobster etc) some of the premium drinks also have a surcharge, bjut there is plenty of drinks to choose from and this was not a problem for us, they did accomodate our request to not have to move on Saturday to a different room, but that may not alway s be the case. They do have someone that approaches you about time share presentations however unlike some places they are not pushy about it, if you are not interested then so be it. I thought they had an awesome bartending /wait staff, and we expecially adored Gerardo and have many good things to say about him. We had a fabulous stay and would definitely stay there again

Pleasantly surprised!

After booking our trip, we read several reviews and were a little nervous for our trip! The Royal Sands met all of our needs as we traveled with our 3 year old and 10 month old so we looked for an all inclusive with a separate bedroom. The resort was very pretty, everything was very well kept. The staff was very attentive and helpful with us and our kids. We never felt any animosity because of our all inclusive bracelets. Service was a bit slow at the pool and the Char Hut for lunch, but still good. We loved taking the resort shuttle to Captains Cove where we sat on the lagoon side and ate fantastic seafood. My Daughter would spend the whole time looking for the alligators. This is a must do! It was really windy while we were there, but the Phase 1 pools and beach seemed quite a bit less windy. We used the laundry service which was convenient and easy, albeit a bit expensive. The very nice laundry lady folded our laundry for us! We didn't seem to have any trouble with the wifi, although the only place we used it was on our laptop in our room. There were tons of things to keep my 3 year old busy, a kids activity center, pottery painting and great pools for little ones. It would have been nice to have some sort of water features in them, or a little slide. I read that a lot of people had to move to a new room on Saturday, but we didn't have to. We asked at check in and they said we wouldn't have to in the room we had. The two things I would say need some work are having to sign the receipts for every meal, drink, etc. even though it is included and the total is zero. I assume this is some way to track how much people would have spent if they were paying for it? We also had to ask for the check every single time. The other thing was the bedding. The comforter in the master bedroom was gross, synthetic, something I would expect at a motel. The crib they provided was apparently very uncomfortable and a little rickety. Overall we had a great time and would recommend this resort for families and people looking for a relaxing, quiet vacation. There isn't much for night life at the hotel but I think most people go out in Cancun for that anyway!

Spacious Rooms but Resort is lacking....

The best part of staying at this resort is the spacious 2 bedroom suites. The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis. We had the all inclusive package and felt that the selection/variety of food was poor. There are activities for older kids. We were expecting an activity/recreation team onsite like other resorts. There are no shows onsite either. Overall, if you are looking for a quiet time away, just to relax, you will be happy with the limited amenities on the resort.

Find a spot early

As many have probably already said - find a spot on the beach/pool deck as early as possible. You can reserve the chairs with towels and no one ever checks to see how long they've been there. Also - the Internet is very slow, but the hotel tells you that when you get the WiFi code.

Disappointing

Beautiful hotel, however too big for maneuvering around. The disappointing parts are threefold. Staff was not friendly. To our family, this is what determines if we would go back or not. Sadly we will not be returning to this hotel. Also, the all inclusive package has not been perfected as of yet. Generally, all inclusive is suppose to make things easy for visitors. At this hotel you have to leave your card EVERYWHERE you go, then remember to pick it back up, and then sign for EVERYTHING. By the end of our trip, I literally had 37 receipts. Not something an all inclusive guest should have to worry about. Lastly, if you are wearing an all inclusive bracelet, you are definitely the bottom of the barrel. Drinks take a minimum of 15 to 20 minutes to get, and food is even longer. You can't send 2 people to the bar to order 4 drinks because they tell you it has to be 1 for 1. Very inconvenient. The hotel clearly makes more money on non inclusive guests and they make no bones about it. I have so many more examples, however even I am tired of listening to myself. This was our 5th visit to Cancun. We will go back, just not to the Royal Sands.

Time Share?......

The staff was great, the amenities were great, but this place is a time-share resort. So not only do you get pushed towards buying a time-share, but you hear some time-share residents say under their breathe," they don't like the all-inclusive people staying at THEIR RESORT". Very family oriented, not a spring-break facility. pros and cons.

Fabulous is all I can say

This is absolutely the best place I have ever stayed. We were treated like Royalty. The Staff was excellent, the place was breath taking, the food was outstanding. We neve left the place we had so much fun. We were treated like family by everyone. We were called by our first names after the 2nd day, just in passing. Thanks to all the Phase 2 bar help and the Waiters and cook staff at the La Veranda you were outstanding. See you next year.
