Secluded and spectacular, The Royal Islander is a haven of tranquility and relaxation, an exclusive hideaway offering spacious villa accommodation and five-star services.

The smallest resort in the Royal Resorts collection, The Royal Islander has an intimate ambiance, a friendly family feeling that makes it a truly special place to be. A privileged location on the highest point of Cancun island gives guests incredible views of the Caribbean, the jungle and the Nichupte lagoon. Tropical flowering shrubs attract hummingbirds, orioles and other colorful birds to the gardens.

One registered guest in each villa must be at least 25 years of age and willing to accept responsibility for the actions of all villa occupants.

Guests staying on Saturday night may need to change units. The hotel will work to avoid this scenario, but when necessary, management will work directly with guests to streamline this process.

Spend the morning on the beach or by the pool, play tennis or join in the daily activities lined up for you. Sign up for an hour's sail boating on the lagoon or try your hand at pottery painting, and of course you can also enjoy the facilities at the neighboring Royal Caribbean and Royal Mayan.

Relaxing Getaway

Myself and 3 college age (grad student) friends stayed here over our spring break. This hotel is great, the staff are very helpful and try to make your stay as perfect and stress free as possible. Make sure that you are over 25 if you book this hotel, we didn't read the fine print and had to jump through a couple hoops to stay here. This resort caters to families and couples-- this is not the place to stay if you are looking for a "college spring break" type of vacation, which was just fine with us! Very easy to take public transportation from here and Thomas More has some great excursions that you can book at the hotel. I would definitely stay here again!

Winter get-a-way

This was our 3rd time at one of the Royal Resorts and we enjoyed all of them. We have always liked having our own kitchen to fix breakfast and lunches. Plus having a full frig to keep fruit and drinks. Lots of planned activities, including poolside demonstrations for cooking by one of the chefs and drinks by the bartender. We heard they have in their plans to go all-inclusive(Royal Sands has already). I think that is a mistake and I don't think we would go there if that happens. Resort safe and family oriented. FYI: Take the bus to Wal-Mart to get your groceries for the week.

Wasn't all inclusive.

This is a great "time-share" resort. Booked this trip as an "all-inclusive" through a travel site. Got there and found out they don't do such things as all inclusive because they are a time share resort and the travel site should not have booked it that way. I specifically searched for all inclusive trips when I booked this one. Cost me several hundred dollars more to eat and drink. Can't knock the accommodations, very quiet rooms. Super views.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Highly recommend the Selvatica Zip Line Experience. They are experts at what they do, very accommodating, feed you well, and encourage you so you succeed and have a good time. Take lots of extra moeny because you will want to buy souvenirs, pics, videos and leave a gracious tip. They so earn it.
