Secluded and spectacular, The Royal Islander is a haven of tranquility and relaxation, an exclusive hideaway offering spacious villa accommodation and five-star services.

The smallest resort in the Royal Resorts collection, The Royal Islander has an intimate ambiance, a friendly family feeling that makes it a truly special place to be. A privileged location on the highest point of Cancun island gives guests incredible views of the Caribbean, the jungle and the Nichupte lagoon. Tropical flowering shrubs attract hummingbirds, orioles and other colorful birds to the gardens.

One registered guest in each villa must be at least 25 years of age and willing to accept responsibility for the actions of all villa occupants.

Guests staying on Saturday night may need to change units. The hotel will work to avoid this scenario, but when necessary, management will work directly with guests to streamline this process.

Spend the morning on the beach or by the pool, play tennis or join in the daily activities lined up for you. Sign up for an hour's sail boating on the lagoon or try your hand at pottery painting, and of course you can also enjoy the facilities at the neighboring Royal Caribbean and Royal Mayan.

The Royal Islander

Only stayed one night but it was good. Pretty much any hotel in the hotel zone is good here. The atmosphere was more laid back then some of the other hotels. The drink prices were cheaper then some of the other hotels. The beach and water was excellent. Didn't try the food.

pretty nice

Besides the configuration of the hotel buildings which was very confusing the staff helped me get to my room many times and were helpful. My first room was very nice then two nights later was moved to a different room. This situation was a little bothersum, but the room they switched me too was beach front so once I got it and unpacked again I was happy.

Very good experience!

Clean: the hotel is very clean and I like the smell of all the hand soap, towels and bed sheets...everything smells nice! Friendly staff: they try their best to help. Good restaurant: the restaurant provides good Mexican food and seafood. The staff there are very friendly and helpful. They recommended the exact dish that satisfies your need. They are considerate about the customers. Location: a little far from the corner area of "7", if you like more people and bars and shopping, you can take R1 bus and it takes around 15 minutes. But the resort is close to a public beach and El Rey Ruin, which is a plus. Good beach and pool inside the resort: the beach is clean and beautiful, the same as the pool. All in all, we are very satisfied with this resort! If we visit Cancun next year, we will still choose it!!!

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

The grocery store inside the resort is a little expensive. Walk for 10 min and you can find a cheaper and popular local store called "OXXO".

Wonderful oceanside resort

As a Royal resort member, the Royal Islander is as comfortable and accommodating as one would expect. Great ocean views and pool areas are a standout. Hospitality always wonderful by staff. Loved the pool-side happy hour - in the pool!

A wonderful vacation

We completely enjoyed our first time in Cancun. The Royal Islander was a very nice place to stay with wonderful staff, super clean, comfortable room, nice pool and a perfect beach. We will definitely stay here again and would recommend any of the Royal Resort locations. Another plus was that we were offered the chance to hear about the time share opportunities but when we declined there was no pressure. We met many people at the beach and pool who have been using Royal Resorts for many years and come back time after time.

Public buses ran very regularly and gives you a much more cost effective way to head downtown and to many locations besides using cabs.

Room and Beach were the best! Food and Tours were expensive.

We recieved a excellent ocean front room. The room was cleaned beautifully every day. The room was large and comfortable. The beach was great with aqua colored water, wite sand and big waves. The beach lounge chairs with thatched umbrellas were included and were very nice. The pool and pool bar were very nice. We enjoyed the 3 - 6 happy hour. Now for the bad. The restaurant and royal market food were expensive, and restaurant portions were small. Buffet breakfast was 15 dollars per person not including tip. The Royal owns Captains Cove restaurant across the street, and prices there are very expensive. Tours arranged by the hotel were also very expensive. My kids liked the snorkling trip arranged by the hotel. The weekly welcome party put on by the hotel was alot of fun. I would consider going back again if the hotel goes inclusive.

Very nice place, wih one exception

The staff at this hotel are the friendliest, and best I have ever experienced at a hotel. The wait staff in the restaurant were also excellent! We loved the food there, especially the Northern Steak. The pool was very clean. The small market at the hotel, was also very useful. Very nice place with one exception. On our last full day there, we had to switch rooms! So, we spent half of the day waiting for them to get our "other" room ready, and when they did, the "other" room had not been cleaned. Because of this, it is unlikely we will stay there again. Losing one whole day, on a six day vacation, switching rooms, for no apparent reason is not acceptable.

Best Spring Break!

Royal Islander was a family, and couple-friendly hotel. The staffs were all nice and very informative and helped us whenever we needed help. The location was perfect too as we could take bus right in front of the hotel and also go around all the royal hotels with a free royal shuttle bus. Just a perfect hotel to stay for a good time.

Perfect Location

A perfect experience from start to finish. Check in was smooth. We had a first floor beach suite that we could walk right onto the beach. Plenty of activities to keep you going throughout the day. Great restaurants and Royal Market had everything you need at reasonable proces.

Relaxing Getaway

Myself and 3 college age (grad student) friends stayed here over our spring break. This hotel is great, the staff are very helpful and try to make your stay as perfect and stress free as possible. Make sure that you are over 25 if you book this hotel, we didn't read the fine print and had to jump through a couple hoops to stay here. This resort caters to families and couples-- this is not the place to stay if you are looking for a "college spring break" type of vacation, which was just fine with us! Very easy to take public transportation from here and Thomas More has some great excursions that you can book at the hotel. I would definitely stay here again!
