Great short break, shame the the local agent was so terrible

The hotel is very nice. It is huge in size. It takes a bit of navigating to get to the beach which is five floors down from the main swimming pools. The pools are enormous and at least one of them was heated. If walking to the main road to get a local bus into town add 10 minutes as the hotel is set well back from the main highway. The entire hotel was immaculately clean. I did not see a single piece of rubbish at any time in any of the communal areas or around the pool. My only complaint was not the hotel itself, but the local agent. My package was supposed to include a complimentary sunset cruise, but the local agent provided misleading and incorrect information, and failed to mention that they only run the sunset cruises on Tuesday's and Sunday's. As we were only in the hotel for four nights and the local agent had initially replied with false information, we missed our only opportunity to go on a cruise. When i contacted them the local agent's attitude was belligerent and argumentative. The local agents Raul Perez, blamed this company for not including this information on the website, and washed his hands of the situation. This really took the shine off what was otherwise a great short stay.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Walk from the hotel down to the main road (10 mins) and take a local bus into town that will cost you $1 USD or $9.50 Mexican Peso. You can go for ten miles on this bus and see all of Cancun as far as the main bus station.

Wonderful facilities, windy Cancun beach

Condo resort was an incredible value. We stayed in beachfront building G on the 6th floor. Beds were very comfortable, shower water pressure was like a power washer it was so forceful (I liked it). Tap water is purified via reverse osmosis. We took the risk and drank it. No problems on our sensitive stomachs. Coffee maker comes with regular basket filters, bring your own ground coffee & sugar or just get free coffee from the pot in the lobby each morning. Plenty of pots & pans, utensils, glassware, a blender & toaster, microwave, full size stove & refrig with ice trays in the freezer to make your own ice cubes from tap water. We shopped at WalMart since we always rent a car. Loaded up for breakfast & booze. All was good. Only thing I'm not a fan of is the wind rough water in Cancun. Go south to Riviera Maya resorts for less wind in general. Waves were very big, forceful, and there's almost always a rip current. So it's not easy to swim in the ocean. Forget little kids in the ocean. Not safe at all. But there were a few lifeguard stations staffed with attentive men. Remember to rinse off if you get out of the ocean or pool. E Coli and other bacteria are the reasons people get sick down here. The sea water is runoff from the land. If you get it up your nose or in your mouth, or have an open wound, you will get sick. If water splashes into your drink & you drink it, you will be sick. Vacationers almost always drink too much and get careless. And the pool is hard to keep clean as it bakes in the sun all day. I'm sure they try though. What's with all those people at the pool bar WHO NEVER GET OUT TO USE THE BATHROOM!?!?!? Disgusting! So don't blame Mexico if you get sick. It's probably your own fault. Overall very nice place. Great golf nearby at Riviera Cancun Golf Club, Playa Mujures CC, Iberostar Paraiso CC, and even drove down to Playacar CC for a round there. Did not play Iberostar Cancun across the street or the new Puerto Cancun CC but maybe next time.

Rent a car & save a ton of money if you plan to get off property. If not, very cheap city bus runs the strip constantly. And hotel has a free shuttle to Royal Sands near shopping malls.

A Slice of Paradise

My family loved staying at the Royal Carribean Cancun. The views from our suite were breathtaking on both sides. The pristine beach was just a few steps away and never too crowded during our stay. Definitely a must-stay for families.

Within 3 kilometers from the Resort there are fine restaurants specialized in Surf and Turf type of food. Be aware, they are pricey, worth it though.

weekend in Cancun

This hotel was on par with the neighboring chains. Our stay was nice and the staff helpful. We stayed for a long weekend and on Saturday we had to change rooms. This part of the experience sucked, b/c we were all comfortable then SWITCH. Besides this all was well.
