Beautiful but boring

No shows, no entertainment...nothing to do at night. You have to sign and pay tip each time you eat or drink. Good for family. The rooms look nice but I got flea bites.

Awesome Family Trip

This was an amazing hotel with great facilities, food and staff and location. We are a family of 4 and had great fun. The food and different choice of restaurants in the all-inclusive was very impressive. Lot of Gourmet restaurants with sister properties were also part of this all-inclusive. The staff was very helpful. The activities staff are awesome and we enjoyed so many free and great activities -- learning para sailing, pottery painting, t-shirt painting, necklace ...etc Highly Recommended

Amazing. Great for familys

This hotel was above and beyond my expectations. It is just far enough away for the main party zone but close to everything. It was very quiet and relaxing. To have the sister hotels and shuttle service (free) to the one down the blvd, was very nice!!! I will b back. We had 3 kids. Age 13-11-9 and they all had a BLAST!!!

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Save your money and DON'T do the Captain Hook show. It's next door and it turns into a huge party and the food was NOT good. (For paying 100 each it isn't worth it).

Wonderful family vacation

Cancun was a great holiday destination for our family of four primarily because of our amazing experience at the Royal Cancun. Immaculately designed & extremely well kept grounds & buildings, amazing food options particularly at Trattoria & Captain Cove's & excellent all round service made our vacation a first class experience. Love Royal Cancun & it's wonderful, wonderful staff!!! Would rate this amongst our best all inclusive vacations so far (and that includes Marriott & Radisson Blu stays at Aruba, St. Thomas, St. Maarten & DR). The only downside was the beach. Beautiful with aquamarine waters but a little too shallow for serious swimmers like us. Seaweed seems to be a persistent problem at all beaches at this time of the year in this part of Mexico. Don't know if it's an all year phenomenon...

Family Vacation

We wanted to take our children their first beach vacation and decided to give this a try. We really liked the hotel and the staff. It is a beautiful area! The pool and turtle pools were great! We were a little put out by needing to use our room key every time we wanted to have a drink. It made it difficult for our kids to go up and order. We had to always wonder where our card was and who has it, etc. We wished all you needed to tell them was your room number and name to make the experience second to none.

Wonderful relaxing stay

The Royal Cancun is a really lovely resort. The 2 story room had breathtaking view of the beach from two balconies, 2 bedrooms plus murphy bed in the living room was perfect accommodations for us with 3 kids. The food was good, lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh baked breads, with a variety of entrée offerings from the buffet or on the menu. Christmas eve dinner was fabulous. The Italian restaurant in the resort was quite elegant and a delicious option to the main restaurant. The only thing that surprised us was being handed a bill for $0 at each meal or drink order in an all inclusive. Apparently the meal plan in optional so it was understandable but not always convenient. The staff was very friendly and accessible too. Thanks to all.

Nice Cancun Getaway

The hotel itself was great. We loved the 2 bed/2 bath villa and the surrounding area was very beautiful, including the pools and the beach. The cleaning staff and room service were also great. We were disappointed by the staff at the restaurant, Las Palapas because they were often extremely slow and seemed very confused. It took 1 hour to get served our breakfast one day. On the brightside, other Royal resorts were included in the all-inclusive plan, so we went to Royal Sands every day for our meals and for swimming. This hotel was good but not the best.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

If you book all-inclusive with Royal Cancun, take the free bus shuttle provided to visit The Royal Sands which is owned by the same company. The restaurant, La Veranda, is much better than the one at the Royal Cancun, and the beach is a lot more beautiful, too. The staff at La Veranda is amazing, kind, and willing to accommodate any requests you may have about food. They made the all-inclusive price worth it.

Good for family but...

The room was big and looked nice and clean but I was bitten by bedbugs all over my body. They have only 2 restaurants. The Italian restaurant was OK but too small. The buffet was awful. Almost same menu every day and cooked bad. At both restaurants and bars, they ask you to give them a room key card upon arrival and give you back a card with a receipt when you leave. So every time you eat or drink you have to pay a tip. We went to over 20 all-inclusive hotels. All most all hotels have more than 2 restaurants and many bars and you don't have to give them a room key card or tip. You can stop one restaurant and munch then got to other restaurant and drink and munch. But this system discourage to do that because every time you go to one place, you have to give the card and pay tip. Even for one beer. Unlike other all-inclusive hotels, this hotel has no shows, no classes... Nothing! If you stay at this hotel with family without all-inclusive deal, must be good because they have kitchen and extra room but not for couple. Sorry but I will never go back.

WILL NOT RETURN

I am a mom and a wife but I'm not dead!!! This place is for the elderly. First of all, the hotel is a timeshare resort which was not specified during the time I book this vacation. Since it is a timeshare resort, your expected stay should be Saturday to Saturday. If not, you have to change your room. What an inconvenience!!! I arrive on a Wednesday, get to my room, unpack and on Friday, I get a notice that I will be relocated on Saturday. I had my activities planned but I have to hold off because I got to pack up and what for concierge to move my luggage. And I can't move early Saturday morning because the room I am being relocated to has guests in it and they have to 11 am to check-out. On the bright side, Housekeeping worked quickly to get me in the room as early as 11:35am with the beds and living room area in order but they were still cleaning the kitchen for 15 minutes after I settled in. I complained to Guest Services about this relocation and in their nicest manner they told me it was specified in my vacation package (which it was NOT). I went for the all-inclusive package which is a bust. If you are going to stay there, take a taxi to the market, buy your own food and cook it - your room has a kitchen. The food there is repetitive and it is a less than mediocre version of Americanize Mexican food. Breakfast is a buffet of the same 6-8 items. It was windy and the burners didn't keep the food warm. I told the waitstaff the food is cold and they wrapped the chaffers in aluminum foil- can you say fire hazard? Upon eating cold breakfast food- My family and I became sick. I wish i could say I had too many drinks and puked my brains out. But I didn't drink and I puked, my daughter (10 years old) puked, my husband puked and my son (2 years old) did NOT puke because he had diarrhea! You can shuttle to the sister resort, The Royal Sands, much livelier! Music by the pool and activities for the kids-the same timeshare resort deal but better amenities and better food. I traveled during Halloween and Day of the Dead expecting there to be some festivities at the The Royal Cancun and there were none! My family and I are a very social group though we enjoy each other company with like to talk with people. My daughter is very social being an only child for a long time she looks for other kids to play with there was hardly any at TRC. All the adults were senior citizen and my husband and I are in our 30s. Now let's end with the good stuff-housekeeping does an amazing job, the staff is overly nice, and there is a free currency exchange center in the lobby, the pool's clean, the resort beach has calm waters, the resort is at the the top of the hotel zone so you are closer to downtown cancun.
