Fun time with friends.

The staff is great. Food above average, with many choices. Nice beach and lots of room at the 2 pools. Downside were the crowds of spring breakers in mid-march. Would consider going back again, just not in march.

Great place!

I have no complaints over this hotel. I would definitely recommend to others. I missed my first night due to my flight being cancelled and they were nice enough to refund my first night without me even asking. Staff were very pleasant, great food, extremely clean place, and great amenities. Is also very family friendly!

All Girls Getaway!

Amazing time! We loved the hotel and the staff was amazing. The entertainment was fun, and the staff was well involved with their guests. The beach was beautiful and the hotel, and rooms were great. One thing I do wish there was, AC in the lobby areas and wifi all over the hotel. The wifi was limited only in the lobby area and it was really warm and humid. There were fans but the airflow wasn't enough. The elevators needed fans too. We did an all inclusive so the bars with the drinks wee fantastic and the meals were good too! Overall, it was a wonderful time and I definitely recommend this hotel to all!!!! Ps. Check out the spa too! ;)

Entertainment tip: Short drive from hotel

I did an all inclusive vacation with Riu Caribe. The nightlife I paid extra through the hotel entertainment staff, but it was defintely worth it because I paid $50-55 for a shuttle bus ride to our location and then we has bottle service with the staff. I had a great time and I would recommend it.

spring breakers

If you want teenagers getting drunk by noon and screaming and running down the halls at all hours of the night , this is the place to go! I was there last year and it was very nice. I told the people at the check in that I did not want to be around the spring breakers and they put me the far away from the noise in a beautiful corner room. This time they put me right by the pool where it was very loud all day and into the evening. It seems they advertised for deals for spring breakers this year and they got all the better rooms. We were there from 3/6 to 3/13. I have to say the food in the main dining room was great. The waiters and waitress' are great too. The hotel was very clean.

Not great but a good value

The hotel is in the hotel zone just outside Cancun. There is good access to everything in the area. The hotel looks very good from the outside but is just okay on the inside and in the rooms. There is a nice view and the alcohol is good quality. There is no internet except in the lobby and no way to proint anything short of going to the sport bar and paying in 15 minute intervals (don't remembe the charge). The good, everything included so no bill at checkout, the view, the location. The staff was generally pretty nice too. The not so good, no internet beyond the lobby, the food was very average. I recommend the omlet bar for breakfast and the steak house for dinner.

Steak house but get there early for a reservation. The Asian restaurant was not very good. The buffet was okay and you certainly will find something you like. The Mexican restaurant was not bad either. You have to make a reservation for the three restaurants between 7 and 11AM. Once booked for the day, they will take reservations for the next day. Steak house is first to fill up.

Great Couple's Geataway

The trip was exciting and fun all throught, only with a minor roadbump. I had reserved the airport to hotel transportation here. [...]Take advantage and enjoy everything that Cancun has to offer. I highl recommend to take the ferry Ultramar to go to Isla Mujeres. The beach there is amazing; super clear, fine white sand and well located. Just a reminder go a step further and take the ferry from Puerto Juarez; it does a trip every half an hour until midnight; the one by the hotel closes too early.Enjoy the historic places like Chichen Itza; its undescribable to see that place. And do not forget to go to a natural park like Xcaret and take a swin on the river; its a lot of fun.

Great Vacation

We enjoyed the hotel, the beach and the pool. A couple of days it was hard to find a chair by the pool. 95% of the chairs would have towels aleady on them by 8:00 a.m. and no one would use the chairs for hours. We were happy with the food. The beer selection was very limited, and there was no lounge or bar area in the hotel other than the main lobby. There were charges to use the in-room telephone, but no notice in the room to let you know. We took a sailing and snorkeling trip. Our kids really enjoyed it. We love the blue water!

JUST RETURNED 3/21/11

THIS WAS OUR FIRST STAY ON THE NORTHERN COAST OF CANCUN - I PREFER THE WAVEY SIDE BECAUSE IT'S FUN TO PLAY BUT THE PRICE WE GOT AT THE RIU CARIBE WAS GREAT SO WE GAVE IT A SHOT. MY COLLEGE AGE KIDS WANT LOTS OF ACTIVITIES AND THE RIU CARIBE FIT THE BILL. THEY OFFER DAILY POOL VOLLEYBALL, BEACH VOLLEYBALL, WATER AEROBICS, BINGO, DANCE LESSONS AND A 'CRAZY GAME' AT 3PM. THE SOUND SYSTEM WASN'T THE BEST AROUND THE POOL SO YOU COULDN'T ALWAYS UNDERSTAND WHAT WAS BEING SAID. I THOUGHT THE MUSIC WAS FAIRLY LAME TOO. THE POOL IS NICE, THEY HAVE A SWIM UP BAR. IF YOU WANT A PLACE TO SIT IN THE SUN YOU'LL NEED TO GET YOUR TOWEL DOWN ON A CHAIR BY 7:30AM - THIS IS PRETTY COMMON AT RESORTS AND I'M USED TO GETTING UP EARLY TO SAVE GOOD CHAIRS. THE BEACH IS NARROW AND FILLED WITH LOUNGE CHAIRS, NOT A WHOLE LOT OF ROOM TO WALK AROUND AND ENJOY THE BEAUTY. THE WATER HAS LOTS OF FLOATING DARK 'NEEDLES' THAT ARE ANNOYING BUT NOT A HUGE DEAL. THE WATER AND COLORS ARE SPECTACULAR. THE BEACH HAS FREE USE OF BOOGIE BOARDS AND HOBIE CAT SAILBOATS, MY DAUGHTER IS A SAILOR SO WE TOOK OUT A SAILBOAT DAILY, VERY FUN. THE FOOD AND DRINKS ARE REALLY GOOD, I WAS SURPRISED. I'M NOT A BIG MEAT EATER BUT THE SALADS, PIZZA, EGGS, CHICKEN WINGS ARE GOOD. THE CHICKEN AT THE STEAKHOUSE WAS EXCELLENT. THE ASIAN RESTAURANT WAS ALSO GREAT, YOU HAVE TO TRY THE FRIED ICE CREAM!! ANOTHER BIG PLUS, THEY HAVE BACON IN THE BREAKFAST BUFFET AND A SOFT SERVE ICE CREAM MACHINE IN THE POOL BAR/RESTAURANT AND ICE CREAM FOR DINNER. THE SPORTS BAR IS OPEN 24 HOURS AND HAS DRINKS, NACHOS, SANDWICHES AND DESSERTS. AT ABOUT 9:30PM EACH NIGHT THERE'S A SHOW IN THE THEATRE, CAN BE FUN. THERE'S A HIDDEN HOT TUB ON A BALCONY BEHIND THE BACK PIZZA BAR, YES, THEY ROLL OUT DOUGH AND COOK PIZZAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU (GRANTED, MEXICO DOESN'T SEEM TO KNOW THAT PIZZAS ARE SUPPOSE TO HAVE SAUCE BUT IT'S NOT TOO BAD). ALL IN ALL I WOULD GIVE THE RIU CARIBE 7 OF 10 STARS. SOME MINOR THINGS THAT I DIDN'T LIKE: 1) NOT NEARLY ENOUGH TRASH CANS 2) NO STATIONS TO DROP OFF DIRTY CUPS/PLATES 3) PEOPLE BRING GLASS TO THE POOL & BEACH AND SOME WILL BREAK - I DON'T LIKE ANY GLASS AT THE POOL OR BEACH 4) CAN'T WALK THE BEACH SHORELINE TO SEE OTHER RESORTS, SECLUDED BEACH 5) NO OTHER RESORTS WITHIN A COUPLE MILES, JUST SMALL CONDOS AROUND, NEED TO TAKE A CAB OR BUS TO THE CLUBS OR SENOR FROGS I WOULD GO BACK, IT WAS NICE, OUR BALCONY WAS OVER 100 SQUARE FEET - BE SURE TO GET THE JUNIOR SUITE, WELL WORTH THE $12 BUCKS A NIGHT. ROOMS ARE OUTDATED BUT I'M NOT ON VACATION TO CRITIQUE DRESSERS AND BEDSPREADS - I JUST LIKE THE SUN AND OCEAN.
