"We Shall Return"

We had good information that the Casamagna was a great Hotel as it proved to be. The room was perfect, soft sheets great Ocean view - even from the Garden room! Right away, we went across the street and bought two LARGE distilled water jugs - stay hydrated!!! We snorkeled three days and went on a dive the last day. Turns out the Coral Reef (aka "Jungle Tour") was the most affordable, the easiest and the most scenic. We also took the Catamaran out to Isla Mujeres, but the ride was too slow for us. The final day, we took the high speed ferry from Puerto Juarez and did a dive at Garrafon Park. It's only a 30-foot dive, but if you are a first timer, it can be a little scary at first. The Dive Master at the park (the one before Garrafon Park - don't do the $59.00 package dive at the formal park) was awesome. We did the dive "hotel certification", no problem - worth the effort. We took the buses everywhere, cabs are too much and the buses are just as fast (but get used to no a/c). It was easy to get around, just ask the Casamagna Concierge - they are fantastic! We ate most meals (other than the awesome Casamagna "free" breakfast) in downtown Cancun. We like to eat the local fare. To really get into it all, go to the center of town, there's a park area where the local families gather every night. That's where we bought all our earrings, presents and such and where we ate everything like the locals, but we stayed with bottled drinks. We had not one problem. La Isla mall was good for t-shirts (3$ each). If you go to the Casamagna, ride the buses, eat downtown, go snorkeling, you will have the greatest vacation of your life - else there's something wrong with you!

Cancun

Hotel was quite noisy with wedding parties on Friday and Saturday. Very small beach front access, and very rocky. Clean rooms. Located away from downtown area, but easily accessed by bus.

Great Family Hotel

We spent a lot of time at the wonderful pool with my kids, 2 & 4. La Isla shopping mall was very close and there were many close kid-friendly restaurants.

Nice Getaway!!

Our stay was very nice and restful. Our room accommodations and view was great! Casa Magna did not have activities at the hotel for guests. Not too many restaurant options at the hotel. We traveled outside of the hotel to a friend's hotel to participate in more hotel activities and restaurants. However, the staff was very friendly, hotel was very clean and beautiful. The hotel is located in a great location for going out to eat and shopping. We would definitely stay again.

We escaped the SwineFlu at Casa Magna

Probably not your average stay: we went for a vacation/conference and the swine flu scare hit and the conference was cancelled, leaving the hotel almost deserted. We thought the staff was courteous and remedied some errors early on in our service - upgraded our room (not hard, the hotel was empty!). A major drawback was that they closed all but one of the hotel restaurants with very little notice (less than 1 day), so we didn't get to try many of the restaurants on-site, though they continued to provide room and pool service, with a limited menu. This meant we had to venture out into the city, when we would have been more than happy to spend some serious cash in the hotel itself. We are rating the restaurants based on a minimal experiences there (the Thai meal was quite nice, but other than that we were relegated to the sports bar, which is only fun once or twice). They also cut the concierge service, which was odd, because it meant that we were less likely to use or visit services that would have helped the hotel. The wireless and phone service was atrocious - we paid for WiFi, but couldn't access it in our rooms at all and our cells didn't get reception in our room, either. However, we had a perfect connection poolside - which was pleasant given the excellent poolside service. We used the spa services and had a pretty good experience - they were prompt, courteous and strove to provide a calming experience. All in all the hotel was nice and pleasant, the beach area was small but well-tended and the staff were courteous and pleasant.

Rooms facing lagoon have great sunsets.

Great hotel, pool was fun to play in. Beach was small due to the washed away sand from a huricane. Very difficult to walk on beach/rocks from one hotal to next. Live lobby music on weekend was enjoyable. Rooms were clean did have to request vacuuming during our week stay. Our room faced the lagoon side of the property, it had great views and wonderful sunsets. The wind from the gulf was no problem as it would have been with a ocean view room. Family friendly, no spring break drunkenness or crazy behavior. Good restrauants right across the street, ask conceior to make reservations and recieve discount or free app. Buses run all the time and felt like short ride to downtown. Favorite offsite activity was ziplining at Selvatica. Must do.

The good and the bad

The hotel was wonderfull, This was the third time that we stayed there. We were disapointed this time because after the hurricane the beach was destroid with lots of rocks. The hotel is still worth it for the price but be prepared for the lack of beach.
