Hotel Casa Maya

Overall resort is clean and nice. Staff is always willing to please and give excellent service with a smile. Beach location is ok. Food options were good. This is my second trip to Casa Maya and I'm sure there will be more.

Hotel is older but more than adequate. Service is excellent. Lots of activities around the pool during the day. Would go back if the price was right.

Stayed at Casa Maya Feb 23 - Mar 2, 2013. Hotel is good value and included Breakfast Buffet. Breakfast had great selection include fruit, eggs, juices, pasteries and variety of other things. Beds are very hard but hotel provides a cushing to put under sheets when requested. Rooms are ok. Our TV did not work and was replaced but the maintence staff was quick when called. Everyone has to have a hotel wrist bracelet but if you ask you can just care it around and not have it attached to wrist. Hotel has a pools and the beach is larger than most other hotels. ALso has a nice volleyball net with lines. Staff has activities going all day. Hotel allows for bringing in own beer in pool and beach area. Bus runs the strip and can be rode of 8 1/2 pesos. For the price I would stay there again.

Checking in was a long involved process and to get your room keys you had to leave the main desk and go meet with someone for some kind of welcome. When we got to our person they didn't even have us on their list - finally we went back to desk and said we just want in our room - no talk - no selling, no welcome drink - just let us check in. Put a very bad taste in our mouth. The breakfast buffet - part of our deal was just average - almost same thing every day. They were doing scraping and cleaning on wall next to our room - very noisy and not greatest impression in the world. Past stays there have been better experiences.

Front desk staff is not helpful. They nickle and dime you for every little thing. On a whole an unfriendly place although you can find some friendly bar staff (Juan with a bright smile!). Rodrigo the activity guy is very nice. I had a waiter in the restaurant get angry with me and my friend because we just wanted to have coffee and chat before our significant others joined us to order breakfast. I have NEVER been treated so rudely. The beach here is beautiful and they have to boast this fact in order to get people to put up with the rude staff and uncomfortable beds. The hot tubs have to be filled with each use as they get cold. The pools are nothing special. kids everywhere. Don't misplace a towel, it is $50. This is a time share so you will be pressured. There is no concierge service whatsoever.

My husband and I stayed at the Casa Maya resort over Christmas break. We were extremely disappointed in our room since it was advertised as a suite. I guess if you call a mini-fridge with a few dishes and no place (sink) to wash dishes a suite. We walked next door to the Royal Cancun International Club and found a nice suite on the beach and their rooms and service were first class. The front desk manager Alexandro was terrible. Had a real attitude. It seemed like everyone had to get his approval for everything. This guy has to go as he is not customer friendly. Before they will even give you your room key upon check-in you have to see your representative who just happens to be a timeshare representative who will call you every day. I will never ever to back to that hotel and its too bad because we were there about 8 years ago and it was nice.

They could not find my reservation even though I showed him the print out. It took me 2hrs waiting to get cleared and a room to check in. Very arrogant front manager
