Economical and Good enough
Room was clean, spacious, clean towels and regular maid service. Unfortunately we were right off the main drag next to the pool/bar/massage room so it was fairly noisy late at night, but only kept us up the first night. This hotel is very kid-friendly for the others on the strip. The food is buffet style like many others, fairly priced (110 peso bkfst, 140 lunch and 160 dinner) and decent enough once you learn to route around and not subsist on refried beans and huevos rancheros. If you're not into the glitz and glamour, this is the spot for you. If you want to feel like kings and queens, shoot for a higher price bracket. Otherwise, the strip is the strip in Cancun, everyone shares the same gorgeous view.

Lovely beach
AT check in we were offered ocean view for $25 more each day. Then they offered it for just 75 more for four nights. Took the offer. Unfortunately the air conditioner in the room wasn't working very good so we had to keep the black out drapes closed all the time..so much for ocean view. The room itself was fine. Small but efficient. New "water efficient" eco friendly toilet.. Only took 4-5 flushes to do the job. The noise from the pool was constant from 10a.m. till 7p.m. I noticed that they were flags from many countries out front.. the American flag was up-side down!!! We told the front desk and they said it was just a mistake..It was corrected in about 30 minutes. Saved me a visit to the Embassy. Location was very convienient to Flamingo Plaza. Prices were MUCH higher this year so be prepared. Overall the staff was friendly. the location good, food expensive, beach nice and uncrowded. Found small quiet pool at far south end of hotel...

In Hotel Row
Shopping was close. No clean towels to use at the beach. Rough surf and not a place to snorkel. Customer Service was really lacking.By far not a 3-6 star hotel. FREE INTERNET IS ABOUT THE ONLY GOOD THING. Way too many kids, babies in diapers in pool.

FLAMINGO IS ONE HOT MESS!!!!
When you first arrive the bell hop will escort you through the hotel pool area like you are on fantasy island highlighting all the benefits the hotel has to offer. HA!! The bell hop even pretended to check our phone. We found out the next day it didn't work!!! We had no minibar which was supposed to be in the all inclusive package (we were on the 6th floor). The food was HORRIBLE. I have read many reviews on here prior to going to this hotel, and wanted to disregard the negative reviews, but I gotta agree with what I read. When you ask the front desk a question you get a shoulder shrug, and that's it. How do you have hot dogs for lunch AND breakfast calling them "sausages". The kitchen staff were very nice, but overall alot of the hotel staff didn't speak very good english. The location was great, about 10 minutes from the party area also right on the beach. I have spoken to other hotel guest during my stay and they all agree this place is not 4 star, it deserves 2 stars based on location. Please research your options for hotels, becuase there are better options out there that offer so much more for the price. We will go back to Cancun but we will NOT patronize that establishment again. Nothing personal just expected more.

Short walk from hotel
The hotel will offer to take everyone to a night establishment, but will charge 35 dollars for entry, and "open" bar. If you are a drinker- great, if not don't bother when you can take one bus and pay 5 dollars to get in on your own.

Good location
Flamingo Hotel is clean, the staff is very nice, the location in the middle of the Hotel Zone is excellent. It was better then I thought it would be. It has a great sand beach, pool, resturant. The lay out is a little odd. You have to make a lot of turns to get from the front desk to your room but you get used to it.I would use them again!

Flamingo Resort Cancun June 2011
My wife and I stayed for 5 nights in June 2011. The resort was small but nice. The majority of the staff is friendly, although the hospitality desk workers can be a little much if you decline a "free breakfast at another resort" offer which is just a time share presentation. They will argue until you give in or walk away. They are helpful though with any other information you need. The rooms (junior suite ocean view with terrace) are nice and have a nice view. The food selection was lacking. While the food was authentic, there was not much selection at all and the same food was served for each meal EVERY day. Also...there is almost nothing for vegetarians to eat. We received a free room upgrade and welcome package when they realized we were honeymooners. Overall it was a nice 5 days but we will stay elsewhere when coming back to Mexico.

if you are not interested in time shares, dont accept any offer to "enjoy a free breakfast at another resort". This could waste a half a day depending on where the other resort is located.

It was decent
When we got to the hotel the room had a bit musty smell and there was no comforter on our bed. They never changed the sheets once during our 7-day stay. A couple of times they didn't clean our room even though we asked them to. Otherwise it was a decent room. They ask you if you would like to upgrade for $100 for the week ocean view. Some of my friends did but some of their rooms the air conditioning did not work correctly. Overall you get what you pay for $630 all inclusive for a week. The food was okay nothing special.

good bang for the buck
My children and I liked the place for the cost. Had a good time and met interesting people there. Bartenders seemed to be a there and didn't appear to like what they were doing. Have met other bartenders of other resorts in Cancun and they seemed to want to help us have fun (creating drinks and smiling). Also, I don't think it was appropiate that children were allowed in the lobby bar after 9:00pm nor should they be using the pool table which is a rule but was never enforced. Could use another bartender helping which would give them more time per individual. Restaurants were good. However when I went to the fancier one (Albitross) we dressed appropiately and didn't want to see people in flip flops, baseball caps, tank tops, basketball shorts or uncollared shirts. Food there was very good as was the head waiter and his staff. Front desk staff was very helpful, and very nice. Had a problem with plumbing in room and it was fixed immediately. Hotel was clean but could use some updating (fresh paint outside areas. Also the front water fountain on street was not working which people the used it as a trash can). I also think they should have a simple map of the grounds so people know where everything is on the grounds. I met people there after three days still did not know there was a second pool or the fancier restaurant. [...], and [...]were great waiters in the buffet and always had smiles on. We did have a good time there and would return.
