Perfect for R&R

This was the perfect place for a weekend getaway for rest and relaxation. My friend and I went during Spring Break season, so there were a lot of young college students in the area, however, it was still a very peaceful vacation, which was exactly what we were looking for. Our room type was sold out, so we received a free upgrade to a dolphin-view one bedroom suite with an extended terrace. The room was wonderful, and the view was spectacular! We swam with dolphins, got vinotheraphy massages on the beach, and relaxed at the poolside bar. The all-inclusive package was perfect with unlimited meals and drinks at all of the resorts restaurants and bars.

Great resort

We stayed at Dreams Cancun February 2014 with a group of 9. We had an amazing time. We stayed in the deluxe dolphin view room and was lucky enough to be on the first floor and was able to watch the dolphins up close and personal. The quality of the food was good most of the time but there was variations in quality from day to day. We would absolutely stay here if we visit Cancun again.

Stay Here

So went on vacation. This company dropped the ball and switched our hotel reservations to a DUMP that was 1/5 the cost of what we were charged. It Was horrible. This company wouldn't find us a new hotel so we got out the phone book and found this place... People super nice. Understood that we needed out right away. And saved the vacation. Great views, great time, great people.

Beautiful

Overall great hotel. We went there because our flight home was cancelled. Pretty expensive first two days but the next time our flight was cancelled the hotel worked with us giving us a good price for the night. My only complain was with the waitstaff when ordering drinks. If you go here you must swim with the dolphins!

A Dream Come True

My first time at an all inclusive resort so of course I had lowered expectations. I didn't think the food would be all that great, but the minute I took my first bite I was proven wrong! Dreams has 5 different restaurants, all of which we tried and they were 4-5 star quality with menus that changed every day. Our favorites were Oceana and Himitsu. The location at the tip of Punta Cancun is incredible, giving us easy access to two beaches and there were always activities or something to do in the resort. I was most impressed by the food and the fact that they even had stands and snack bars on top of the restaurants which were not necessary but the fact that they had them available showed the effort of the staff. Speaking of the staff, everyone was very friendly and accomodating, and made us feel at home in this beautiful paradise. The only reason I didn't give the resort a complete 5 star was because the room service on the last night of our stay was very subpar. The tissue papers were not refilled and we ran out before check out, also dirty plates and cups had not been collected. Otherwise, we had an amazing stay and will definitely be back again.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

If staying at the preferred club tower, exit through the Seaside Grill evacuation route (marked for employees only, but just ignore it) and it will take you directly to the entrance of the hotel instead of walking around the entire resort to get to your room!

Not a bad time

We just got back from our vacation to Dreams Resort & Spa in Cancun. We chose there because we have stayed in the "sister" resorts so we figured it was a safe bet, knowing from reading past reviews that it might not be perfect. I think it's safe to say that it was what we expected, nothing to blow our minds away, but not a terrible time. The resort was a bit dated in some ways and could use some touching up, but nothing too terrible. The views around the resort are breathtaking!! Our room was "upgraded" to the tower (we lost our balcony when we upgraded but the view was still wonderful). Again, the room was a standard hotel rom. It was a family vacation so I didn't need a spa tub or anything ultra fancy. The plumbing and water tended to have issues throughout the day, but we experienced it off the resort as well so we chalked it up to the "Mexican experience". The beds were comfortable and the room was always very clean. There were very few tv shows on in english, but again we weren't there to sit and watch tv. The one complaint I had was it could have used better lighting. At night the room was pretty dimly lit, which made things like ironing tough. The room came with a garment steamer that didn't work, but the concierge desk replaced it with an iron and and ironing board within minutes of our saying something. The other bad thing was there were no functional ice makers in the Tower so we had to go down and get ice from the bar in the lobby. Annoying, but they were willing to accommodate. The pool was nice, but very cold. We spent most of our time at the lagoon and ocean by the main part of the hotel. The "private beach" at the tower was nice, but a little too far from the ocean for my liking. (The beach part was private, but the ocean was public.) We never had a problem finding chairs or towels. The dolphin experience were probably the best I have ever seen. We didn't do it with being pregnant and having a toddler, but I think it's safe to say that you really got your money's worth. It was really fun to watch! The food was so-so. In our opinion, typical resort food. We don't go away expecting 5 star dining like we would in the States. It was very much all-inclusive and we took advantage of that from the restaurants to the coffee shop to room service. The best restaurant, in our opinion, was the Asian one, with the adults only Seaside Grille coming in second. We didn't make it to Paloma, the Mexican restaurant, because reservations to fit our schedule were hard to get. They did have a traditional Mexican feast on the beach one night, which was fantastic (so we weren't too bummed to miss Paloma)!! The toughest part were the dining hours. Having a toddler who is used to going down for a nap early and eating dinner early, having to wait until 12:30 and 6pm to eat was a bit tough. We did finally figure out ways around it with room service and the snack shack, but you have to be prepared. The bars were wonderful and catered to those of us who couldn't or didn't drink alcohol. The daily drink specials were really neat and always included one alcoholic one and one non-alcoholic one. I can't say enough good things about the staff! They were the best part. Always friendly and looking to make your stay 5 stars. Any problem we had was taken care of immediately and they do go out of their way to make sure you are having a good time. Overall, we had a wonderful time. We are curious what differences and or improvements the Hyatt is going to make once they take it over in April, but who knows if we will ever find out.

Overrated and over priced

There is technically nothing wrong with the hotel, but it is way overrated and overpriced. 1. Check in took 30min. I was upgraded to the vip tower. Don't be fooled. There's nothing vip about the tower nor the rooms. 2. Internet was 16usd for a day, but it doesn't work in the room. Tried to get a quiet room to make an internet call, but hotel wanted 10usd an hour to use their conference room the size of my bathroom. 3. Crowded. Everything is crowded. Their 1980's pools are way too small. Breakfast room is loud and small. 4. Tried to overcharge my laundry bill for more than double. 5. At Paloma Bonita they wanted to charge me to switch my bean side to mashed potatoes. 6. Worst part of it all. I couldn't get a milshake anywhere in the hotel.
