Outstanding Resort

This is a beautiful resort with an outstanding staff. It felt like paradise and the employees were very attentive. The on-site restaurants were great as well. We will absolutely return. Keep in mind this place is kid friendly, so if you don't have children (like me) it can be a little annoying when you're trying to relax.

Awesome

We stayed 5 nights mid April. We were in a terrace suite with a plunge pool. The staff is extremely courteous and prompt. They really go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. We enjoyed the food most of the time. The only negative thing about the resort is the beach. There are seaweeds, There was one day when there was none. Either way, the staff constantly is cleaning the seaweed of the beach. We will definitely be back.

Perfect family getaway!

We loved the hotel as soon as we arrived there! From the courteous staff to the refreshing welcome drinks, the clean and gorgeous room, bulgari amenities etc etc... This was our first trip to Cancun with 3 years old so we didn't know how far this place will be from Cancun hotel zone.. It's about 20-30min by cab but we just wanted relaxed so it worked out perfectly! I recommend to reserve a private transportation from/to hotel as it is about 40-50min from the Airport. There is absolutely nothing else around the hotel, but the hotel can arrange a transportation for you if you need one. We did not use kids club on this trip, but it seemed decent.. And they have perfect kids' pool with four different slides and the water height was just about my son's knee:) If you are unsure about going here, just go. Especially one's with kids... It's not overly crowded so you can relax well even with kids and you'll want to come back as soon as you are back home;)

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Take a cab (10 min/ less than 130 pesos) to catch a ferry to go to Isla Mujeres from the port Puerto Juarez. It's a small island that you can go around by golf cart (all day rental for about 50 pesos). You can go see sea turtles, drink by the beach, or many marine activities available at Garrafon park. Less crowded than Cancun downtown.

Most beautiful resort ever.

I have no idea how people can say the staff was lacking & the food was bad. We just came back from a honeymoon from June 5-11 2011 and I can tell you this place was PERFECT! The staff was the most friendly, helpful people I have ever met. The food was out of this world, very different but very very good. The only thing I can tell you about this place that dissapointed me a little was the beach had a lot of seaweed, but they were constantly cleaning it as well as they could, and the beds were a little hard. And the location was pretty far from town, pretty pricey to get a cab to drive you to town. Other than that we had an absolute dream honeymoon! I recomend getting a 2 story beachfront casita, it was really nice. We had our own private pool on the rooftop that over looked the ocean, just perfect!

Luxury with a hard bed

La Amada was a beatutiful place to stay. The rooms are so nice! The only complaint that we had was that like many of the reviews that I read before booking at La Amada, the beds were hard. The bathroom area is a bit out in the open so there is not a great deal of privacy. La Amada is quite a ways away from town, so there is really no place in walking distance near by. I loved it there, but my teenage son's were a bit bored. If you want to go to a hotel for rest and relaxation than this is the place! The pools were never crowded, it was quiet, there weren't a bunch of screaming kids running around, and it was definately not a party zone for college spring breakers. It was $25 dollars to get a cab into town, but our driver waited for us while we were shopping at La Isla Mall. He then drove us to a street market downtown. I got ripped off at one stand, but my son got good deals! Go on a trip to Isle Mujeres. We had a blast on the catameran but there was no shade so it was really hot. We had fun shopping on the island and got pretty good deals there. It was a long day, but totally worth it. There is a small game area by the kids pool where you can play pool, ping-pong, or chess. Othere than that there wasn't a lot to do around the hotel.I would go again, but I would leave the kids at home and bring my boyfriend!

Dining tip: In Hotel

We bought our tickets before La Amada became all inclusive. I asked about adding it on but they wanted $80 per person per day. We ordered room service for lunch and dinner and went to the Grille restaurant by the beach for lunch twice. It averaged about 80-100 per day for all three of us. Not such a bad price when they were asking for $80 per person per day!!The room had a mini fridge with complementary beer, soda's and water. Each day they restock it and they leave snacks that include a Snickers bar, peanut M&M's, Chipsahoy cookies, and two bags of chips. This was nice because I brought two teenage boys with me. They ate the snacks every day and drank all of the soda's.

Exemplary 5 star resort!

Our arrival was perfect-champagne as we checked in! Service was superb. Restaurants were excellent, staff very welcoming and helpful.... never "looking for tips" although we were happy to tip them regularly for their gracious service. The infinity pools(3)were beauriful and the beach was "right there" with beautiful loungers. Gorgeous place for a wedding which we attended right at the resort.

Stop looking and go

My husband and I used this as a vacation from a vacation. We had just come back from a very fun but busy Disney World trip with the kids. The trip to La Amada was exactly what we were looking for: a relaxing time away to reconnect. We enjoyed the Aqua Viva treatment - definitely worth the time to experience. The breakfasts were perfect for us: lots of fresh fruit, juices, smoothies, pastries and a nice variety of meats and cheeses. The staff was incredibly friendly and responsive. The resort was very clean and quiet. The room was spacious and also very clean. We like to explore, so we rented a car. We ate at Aroma one night - very good, but drove into central Cancun a couple of nights and took a ferry over to Isla Mujeres one night for dinner too. Good running path along a golf course just outside the resort but still behind the gates. We rarely want to go back to a particular place because we usually want to try new places, but we both agreed that we would love to return!!

Absolutely amazing!

We planned this trip to celebrate our 20th anniversary, wanting to have a memory to last a lifetime, and we got it! We don't usually travel first class, but decided to splurge a little. This hotel was everything that we could have asked for. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, providing everything that we could have wanted, and I actually thought that the price we paid was low for the experience that we had. The pictures of the hotel are true to life! It was beautiful! I had read many positive reviews on this website, which is why I chose this hotel, and all of my expectations were lived up to. It is a little way off the beaten track, so we rented a car for the duration of the trip (another useful piece of info from other reviews). The ambiance is definitely restful and relaxing, we never had a meal that wasn't fantastic and picture-worthy. The concierge set up for my husband to go deep sea fishing, and we went snorkeling. Everything about our trip was fantastic, and although my husband was initially apprehensive, he is already talking about planning our next trip to La Amada!

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

This hotel is beautiful enough to stay in for the entire trip, but it is out of the way for shopping or tourist activities. A round-trip taxi fare to get to the hotel zone where the shopping is great was about $50 dollars. We rented a car for the whole stay, but didn't use it every day. You can rent a car at the hotel for the days that you would use it!
