great value

We were looking for an inexpensive getaway and this was perfect. The beach was as good as any on the strip. The food was adequate and fresh. The staff was the difference. They were attentive, friendly and truly there to make your stay great.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

See the Mayan ruins close at El Rey right on Kukulcan Blvd for only $3.50. You can climb up the ruins and inspect them close up. It is within walking distance from most hotels across the street from the public beach access. There is a new museum to see just a few blocks North that is good to see. Both are quiet and not crowded.

Nice hotel for the value

Great location with bus availability. Only bad thing is, you have to buy wifi. But drinks are free, service is great. Just remember to leave a $1 tip for the cleaning ladies!

Comfortable stay

Comfortable room with great sea view. Close access to the beach. Pool was warm and you could always get a bed. Entertainment during the day was good. Some evenings had shows or other entertainment eg live music or karaoke. Food was varied and always of a good standard in the buffet restaurant. It's true it needs updating so if decor and quality of towels/sheets is important to you, then don't stay here. We did a lot of excursions so the hotel was satisfactory for what we needed. Trips are expensive so haggle. You can get cheaper than booking in the hotel for some trips.

Not what we expected

It is a very run down hotel, when we first got there we were actually scared. The room was okay, but the overall upkeep of the hotel was horrible. The food was not very good at all, but the restaurant little Italy served very good pasta! The pool was nice but the swim up bar closes early at 5pm.

Relaxing Family Vacation on a Budget

First of after reading every review about this place going back 2 years and I was nervous. However, the last reviews were not as negative. The place is at the end of hotel zone and is 30 years old and in need of some updates/repairs. It is a 3 star hotel need I say more. Our room as well as the hotel was clean. The staff at the hotel were polite, friendly and very hard working, as well as accommodating. We had a room that faced the ocean and the inlet and the view was incredible! There are three restaurants to choose from and the food was not bad. There were many items that you could pick from. Everyday there was lots of fresh fruits and salads. The pool was nice, a little small if there were lots of guests but you could go to the ocean which was right next to pool. There was a cool water hot tub which actually quite nice since it was about 93-100 outside. For $1.00 you could catch the bus down town and go to the beautiful malls, aquariums, water parks, fancy dinners etc. we went on the Jolly Roger Pirate cruise and it was enjoyable, my kids loved it. If wanted to tour other parts of Mexico you could book it through the hotel. August is vacation time for Europe and Mexico so we met lots of terrific people from all over the world, plus some Americans as well. All in all this was bad at all and I would stay there again.

Vacation Getaway

the hotel is older, but kept pretty clean. the staff was good, but their restaurant "Little Italy" can sure use some help with staff. Little Italy had one waiter who was the host, waiter and busser. the waiters at the buffet never return or don't even come to offer you drinks. I also noticed that every time I came back to my room, the phone in my room would ring within two minutes. That gave me the impression that staff knew when I returned to my room. The person would call me trying to sell timeshares. I had to finally turn off the phone so I wouldn't have to hear it. Would I stay there again, probably not. If you do stay there, Arely the bar waitress was the only awesome person.

Set your expectations low, and you will have a great time at this hotel

This property is struggling, and seems to be forced to cut corners. You see the signs of it everywhere starting with the building facades and a crew of workers constantly patching up the biggest holes; and including moody elevators that might or might not go to certain floors; as well as clogging toilets and the stench of sewage that seems to be somehow related to the level of the sea - the calmer the sea, the fresher the air in the hallways. Some of the costs are shifted directly to the guests in the form of exclusions to the otherwise all inclusiveness of the whole deal. For instance, access to Meditareneo - their best restaurant - is limited to one dinner per each 7-day stay, and two best items on the menu; namely, lobster and steak, are priced at $35 and $20, respectively (that is US dollars rather than pesos). WiFi is available in the lobby at $10 (US) per hour or $80 for the week; there is a $10 fee for lost room key card; $25 for lost pool /beach towel; and $50 for lost key to the safe. The safe itself is charged at $2 or $3 per day. Except for hotel rooms and Meditareneo, the whole property relies on cross ventilation, shades and fans for climate control. Bathroom towels, once white, are now washed-out gray and often have rips in them. The main restaurant - Mirador - serves food that seems to be fresh and cleanly prepared but it is utterly boring, and some items such as loin of pork or beef very unappealing. The beach is beautiful but it is only open between the hours of 9 to 5 (go figure), and the beach chairs are beat up. The lock to the entrance door as well as to the balcony in my room did not work, the toilet got clogged one day, and leaked for two days of my stay there. I could go on and on but I think you get the picture - if you are looking to be pampered, look somewhere else as Bellevue is not going to be the right choice for you.

Do not open the plastic bag containing plush turtle that you might find in your room. The toy is not free. In fact, the label on that bag will inform you that you will be asked to pay 250 pesos for the toy if you open the bag!
