Nice Hotel - Enjoyed Stay

We had a suite and found the room had plenty of room for two adults and two children. The two bathrooms and showers were very convenient. The tub in the master bathroom was good for the kids to take their baths. We found that amenities like coffee and shampoo were slow to be replenished (even though we tipped the cleaning lady each day). With the kitchenette, it would have been nice to have some plates and utensils. A stove would also have been nice. Overall, the fridge, sink and microwave served us well during our stay.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Turn right out side of the hotel and walk about 2 blocks. You'll see Tacuns (right next to Habanaros). Tacuns offers delicious, authentic Mexican food at a very reasonable price. It's not fancy, but the service and food are excellent.

Two night Stay

The hotel was in a very nice location right on the ocean. The room we stayed in had a nice small balcony. The shower leaked and the bathroom floor was very wet because of it. The people in the restaurant were exceptional, but the people at the check in were unfriendly and the hotel operator was rude.

Fiesta Amercana Suites had a very nice dining area on the ocean. The view was gourgeous and the water was calm here. I wish we had stayed here.

Its a pretty good price for a beach city hotel, if it was in the states. Somehow the cancun hotels are really expensive, and if you cant get a all inclisive vacation package, this one is probably one of the best choices you have!

Great for Families or Couples

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a week in March 2012. It was a nice relaxing stay. The hotel is very small so it feels very intimate. There isn't alot of room for rowdy partiers as there are no night clubs on site or too close by. Perfect location as there are restaurants and malls within walking distance and there is a bus stop right out front to take you to the clubs if you want to go. The restaurant was very good, if we went again we would make sure breakfast is included as the buffet was great. The only drawback is all the stairs but if it's a problem for you then don't stay on the top floor.

La Isla mall is great for shopping. There are many expensive shops but if you are a young woman you will love Shasa as it's very affordable and has great stuff!

Small mall with stores, pharmacy, restaurants was just across the street. Good little cafe -- Habanero's -- just around the corner.

Just a little disappointed

I was supprised that the hotel would not cash a travelers check. Only one coffee compliment for the 10 days. Tried to pay off some of the room charges with pesos and was denied. Next time I will find a different hotel. Wanted two chairs for the balcony and was denied.

We at one time travelled to Cancun for dinner meals but those restaurants no longer exist. Dining in the hotel zone was sufficient. A new area opened since our last stay. Market #28, shops and souvenirs. Bus R-2 for this and Walmart. Bus R-1 for down town Cancun.

rather gross

what a dump. totally underwhelming experience. we just stayed here one night and wouldn't have stayed any longer. overall the hotel was dishonest. for a bit more money we upgraded to the "oceanview" rooms with a kitchenette. before we even got to see the room we had an incredibly long wait at the reception as they couldn't find our reservation or sort out paperwork for us. meanwhile the staff was very aggressive about taking our bags to the room for us which we didn't need any help with as it was only our backpacks and a suitcase but i guess they're eager for tips. after a very long while they finally sorted out a room for us which they took us to but the room looked as if it were already inhabited. there was a large domino's pizza box on the table as soon as we walked in and the bed was unmade, as if that weren't bad enough the room had a so called balcony with absolutely no view as it wasn't even on the first floor but basement level with a large wall blocking any sort of view to the ocean and loud music blaring from the neighboring pool. it looked like a nightmare so i asked to be moved immediately which the reception didn't even apologize for the distress of the room. on of the concierge just rolled his eyes. come on really? we didn't do anything wrong! so the next room they put us in was on the very top floor...and they have no elevators! which they never mentioned. our room had at best a partial view of the ocean. just a very corner end view (about 15%). our real view was of the building directly in front of us and the building to the side under some very loud construction. the rooms you see in the the pictures are absolutely nothing like what they look like in person. oh and the other thing is they don't have free wifi even though it was advertised and they wouldn't give us a late check out! and the absolute worst part of this experience was the room service! i ordered a veggie pizza thinking this would be the least complicated dish they could prepare without messing up and of course i get this cardboard textured pizza with bagged cheese and carrots on it and 10 packets of ketchup! carrots?! carrots?! the saving grace of it was the ketchup! and that's just not right! and then as if that weren't bad enough i knew the gratuity was included on the bill but the guy who ran up the pizza told us he suggested we tip on top of that. who does that?

Beachfront Treat

We had a few extra days in Mexico and decided to stay on the beach in Cancun. We've avoided this in the past, since it's often crowded with a partying crowd. There was a great rate at the Avalon Grand, which is in the middle of the many-Km long Cancun beach, so we gave it a try. The property was beautiful, well maintained, with large rooms/bath and a balcony. There are stairs as you wind through the European styled entry and pool areas, but worth the short walk. A infinity pool at beach-side is beautiful, the hot-tub divine and the property is relaxing (no disco balls, life-sized frog sculptures or oversexed waitresses). Their staff was informative, helpful and very professional. The food was excellent, although we walked across the street to the Flamingo Mall and bought beverages/snacks to keep with our in-room fridge. Avalon has another location (even more intimate) just down the beach (a few properties away) where you can charge to your Avalon Grand room. We had dinner at their restaurant, Avante. Awesome! Arturo, our waiter, was very sweet.

Tacun (Tacos, coffee, ice cream, etc.) is a small place on the same side of the street as Avalon Palace, across from the Flamingo Mall. The best fish tacos we've had in Mexico, with great service and only $2.50 each.
