Negril Beach Club Resort guests gravitate to Jamaica's most popular beach for relaxation and recreation. Not like it use to be

I've been to Jamaica several times. I've stayed at The Beach Club Condo three times. I kept going back because it's usually clean, quite and safe. This time around I had to change the room I was assigned becuase it was down right filthy and dingy looking. The second room was clean and in better condition. The room had a lamp with no light blub, the balcony had no light bulb there was a phone with out a phone cord. Actually there was no wall jack to even plug in a phone. The toilet over flowed. I waited so long for a mop I had to get the mop myself. I waited several hours for a Bulb for the balcony I took a blub out of the ceiling light and fixed teh balcony light myself. I had to ask them to spray the room because I had big flying cockroaches. YUCK!!!! I should get paid for my work there. No sure I would stay again unless they promised to go back to their original standards.

Issues with security guard

Overall, we were dissatisfied with our stay. Our biggest complaint with the room was the extremely large roaches that we had to contend with every day. There was a hole in the bathroom floor and we could see the roaches crawling in from this hole. We were thankful that we were out of the room most of the time because it was extremely difficult dealing with the roaches. My biggest complaint about your hotel though is the security guard at the front gate. We had met some locals and became friends with them so they visited us at the hotel. I had checked the visitors in during our stay with no problems, except for the last night. I had checked my visitor in and had been on the beach most of the day. We left to get dinner and upon returning to the hotel I was shocked at the response of the security guard. He immediately starting yelling at my visitor when we got out of the taxi. They exchanged words and I finally went over to see what was going on. The guard told me he had to sign in and I replied that I had already signed him in. He then responded that "he was on duty now and he needed to sign in again". I said that was fine I would sign him in. The guard said he had to have ID and I told him they had not requested it all the other times I had signed him in. He then replied it was a new policy. My friend left to get his ID and called me upon returning. The guard was still very rude and did not want to sign him in. He finally agreed to sign him in but told me he had to leave within 15 minutes and insisted on keeping his ID. We then went swimming and tried to enjoy my last night in Jamaica. At one point the beach security guard approached us with my friend's ID and said the other security guard told him my friend had refused to sign in. I questioned how he got the ID if he refused to sign in. I told the beach security guard I was very unhappy with the way I was being treated as a paying guest of the hotel and was unhappy with the way my guest was being treated. He indicated he was going to call a supervisor and asked if I would speak to him. I happily agreed to speak with him. While waiting for the supervisor, my friend and I sat outside my hotel room. While sitting there the front security guard was standing at the corner watching us. I asked if he was the supervisor and he refused to answer me. At that point, the supervisor appeared and the guard immediately left. I explained the circumstances to the supervisor and he apologized for the way we were being treated by the guard. He promised me he would take care of it. I told him the guard had been rude and disrespectful and that I did not appreciate it. The supervisor gave the ID back to my friend and told me he could stay as long as I liked and to enjoy my remaining time in Negril. After the supervisor left, we started walking to the beach. We were then stopped by the security guard again telling me my friend had to leave. I told him I had just spoken with a supervisor and was told he could stay. He argued with me and told me he had to leave. I finally walked away from him because I was not going to listen to his nonsense. He then proceeded to follow us around the beach. We finally walked down the beach to escape him. As we walked, we saw the front security guard approaching the beach security guard. He was obviously telling a story because his arms were flying all over the place and he appeared to be very angry. Upon returning to the hotel, the beach security guard informed us he had to call the supervisor again due the behavior of the front security guard. The next morning, my travel companion told me the front security guard had woke her up during the night pounding on the door. She told him no one was there and he insisted that there was a visitor in the room. He refused to listen to her so she finally closed the door. It was very unfortunate because the time spent with the guard or talking to the supervisor was approximately 2-3 hou...

Very disssapointing!

This hotel was a complete dissapointment, it also changed its name and ownership. I checked in, looked at the rooms and checked out, later people told us that everyone who goes there leaves. Pls send my money back. I checked in at The Palms, which was an excellent hotel with renovated rooms, hand made furniture, very romantic and above all it has a great restaurant with a very creative chef, tried everything on the menu, it was wonderful, it made my vacation! Its location was fantastic, and their Jazz night outstanding.

My Jamaica Trip

I booked this vacation through Orbitz because I thought (from the website) I was getting a CONDO! I confirmed with Orbitz and they said, yes, you have a condo. When we arrived, we got E136 a regular room with two beds(No problem Mon) but the room smelled of Mildew, and the AC leaked ALL on the floor and drapes. I didn't complain. After 1 night the maid came in and said OMG! You need a new room. *--# at the front desk gave me and Hubby a condo room in much better condition. Orbitz has false advertising and Im surprised they havent been sued by now. After moving, Me and hubby had a great vacation in JAMAiCA!

Travellers hotel right next door had great food, breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food at Negril Beach Club Condos(what I thought I booked) was good also. Step outside of resort for more options. Mayfield Falls is an awesome excursion, get a private driver to take you there much better than Dunns River Falls!!!!

Actually called Mariner's Beach Club

Great location close to town, We had the 1 bedroom studio which was recently updated. Cannot comment on the other rooms. The restaurant on the property was excellent, good service and friendly always willing to satisfy you (Lingah Restaurant) We ate at Sweet Spice, Ixtabi, and Margaritaville and Bourbon Beach. The food at the hotel beat them all, with Margaritaville coming in second. Don't bother changing your money to Jamaicans Dollars. We did better with US Dollars

What you see is not what you get

I don't even know where to begin with this hotel. First of all, I had read other reviews and people were saying how nice everyone is and how the rooms are not that bad. I think they must have had too much Wray & Nephew before they wrote their reviews. This place is AWFUL. If you are booking on Orbitz, or any online booking agency, you are NOT getting the room that they are showing online. Those must be the Condo part of the property. What we got was a room, albeit large, that reminded you of maybe someones house. And that someone doesn't clean and hasn't renovated in many, many moons. It was awful! (did I say that already??) I had to keep reminding myself that we were in nice weather, on the beach and my husband's uncle was picking us up and taking us away for a few days. If we were going to be there for the entire length of our stay, I would have packed up and stayed somewhere else. We met one nice girl at the front desk, Trudy. Other than that, we had to complain 3 times about a broken air conditioner that was leaking water all over the floor before it got fixed. And it wasn't like they were that busy because there was hardly anyone in the hotel. And being on "Caribbean" time is not cutting it because my husband is from the Caribbean and it still wasn't acceptable. I found a roach in the bed and a dead one under the bed. I mean, I know we were in the Caribbean but that still freaked me out. The plus of it all was that we were right on the beach. Even just before we got picked up to go to the airport, we took a dip. So all I can tell you is you get what you pay for. Enter at your own risk. Do your homework. There are sooo many other hotels and many others that looked ten times better. Do yourself a favor. I have been to so many other hotels and destinations. This hotel almost ruined it for me.

The real name is Mariners Negril Beach

Please let me tell you that Negril Beach Club Condo's is not where you will be staying if you book through Orbitz. The hotel is called Mariners Negril Beach Resorts. Don't fear... it's a nice place and I would go back, but Orbitz does make this very misleading. The rooms are somewhat outdated, but spacious and clean. I mean really.. we are there for the sunny skies and the beach, not the dim lights of a room and TV.. hehe. Daily service will bring fresh towels and sheets. We loved having her in the room, we made jokes and conversation while she was there, and fit in just like family. Room Service was some of the sweetest ladies I met on our trip. The staff is super friendly and actually a lot of fun to hang around, so get to know them. [...] is an abosolute doll and works hard to make sure you are comfortable with your stay and the booking is as accurate as possible. Most of the resort is family owned so you will see family members throughout the day serving to make it the best stay possible. I had to call maintainance on our air conditioner the second night because it dripped down and soaked our bed. It was our fault though because of leaving the balcony door open. They came out quicky to check and service the unit, they moved the bed (left the wet sheets) mopped the floor and left. The rooms are larger than I expected. Wiring is not inside the walls but outside, but the TV, couch, fridge were new units and in great condition. The resort is super relaxing and truly does have all you need for a vacation. My boyfriend currently lives in Ocho Rios and he was very pleased with our stay, the staff, and the cleaniness of the resort. Working at a 4 star resort he had a lot to compare and was very very pleased with our stay and even mentioned coming back with his family and mine. The restauraunt is owned by another family, but the food was great, inexpensive, and the service was excellent. Very friendly, loving people who truly want to make your stay pleasurable.Make sure to walk the beach and streets for great local dining. We ate out the whole time and found some wonderful spots. Juicy J's near west endSunrise hotel has great pizza and an excellent barSunset on the beach...some of the greatest food out there. There is also a mom and pop shop across from sunrise hotel on the same side as the mariners that has WONDERFUL, CHEAP food. It was the best I had tasted while I was there. The fish was almost right out of the water it was so fresh. You must try. So for the price it's a great stay. You will enjoy if your expectations in the rooms decor is not high. Everything else about the place a spot on.

Here are some great places to try outside the resort, that is affordable, excellent, and fun. Juicy J's, the place across from Sunrise Hotel, Sunrise Hotel Pizzeria, Alfreds, Sunset at the beach, and three dives. The food is anywhere from $3.00 US to $14.00 US. That is the most I spent on any given meal. Go to West End for some real Jamaican food if you have a kitchen and really just live the life mon... Life is IRIE in Jamaica. Go with a good attitude, a loving heart, and a need to RELAX! It will be the best vacation you have every had.
