If you're like me, you don't have relatives living near the most exciting vacation destinations in the world. The good news is I may have found the perfect vacation -- an
all inclusive vacation. My experience at the
Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort Montego Bay All Inclusive is what did it for me; now I finally believe in the elusive
cheap Caribbean vacation that always seemed too good to be true. In fact, when I suggested a three-night getaway to the SunSpree, my wife gave me her trademark "Are you kidding me?" look. That look disappeared when I delivered the details on the asking price; At 60 percent off, we weren't going to let our very own cheap Caribbean vacation slip away. We didn’t wait a second — we pounced.
The Sunspree is situated on the coastline of the Caribbean Sea where if you squint towards the horizon, I'd almost swear you can see Cuba. The downtown area is a short six miles away, but a place like the SunSpree wasn’t exactly made with the idea of leaving in mind. Strolling down the peaceful white sand beach, sunning by the pool and taking in the free nightly entertainment was enough to keep us from exploring the city. They even have four restaurants and a killer health and fitness center (as if either one of us would rouse from our tranquil, relaxed state long enough to break a sweat). That’s what I love most about all inclusive vacations: they're so effectively conducive to actual relaxation. That, and you don’t have to pay for meals or leave a tip!
The SunSpree is a great place for couples, but since it doubles as a favorite family vacation spot, you should be strategic when you choose your season to visit. This isn’t a bad thing on its own merit, but there’s an unwritten equation that dictates an increase in vacationing children often means an inescapable drop in romantic ambiance. For this reason, avoid booking your vacation in summer. Winters in Jamaica are warm and cheap, and a great time to score hot cheap Caribbean deals with matching airfare.
