Rome
Staff was great. Able to understand English. Pick up from airport in a Mercedes Bens and had soft rock music playing in English. Breakfast buffet was above average. Take the bus to city center. They sell the bus tickets about a half block from the bus stop.

Wonderful location
If you are looking for a quiet getaway this is your place. The hotel is in a lovely neighborhood with plenty of shops and restaurants within a ten minute or less walk of the hotel. The staff were very helpfull, the breakfast not fancy but better than average with a self serve beverage machine that did fine cappacino. Rooms are small and the bathroonm configuration was a challenge. You had to move around the door to get in and out.

Sightseeing tip:
Long walk from hotel
The Vatican is a twenty-five minute walk from the hotel but they do have a morning shuttle service that will get you there in just a few minutes. Go early to avoid lines. If the lines are more than an hour consider a guided tour that will move you to the front of the line. Take the metro into Rome for only 1.5 euros each way. It's a fun way to meet local people and it stops within walking distance of the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish steps. Get a two day pass on the hop-on -hop-off bus for a great overview of the city.

Adequate
On arrival we were shown to a double room with a roll-up bed squeezed in between the bed and the wall. Hardly the 30 square metres triple that we ordered. Grudgingly, we were moved the next day to the room we ordered, despite their insistance that this was a quad room! Other guests we met had similar experiences. Hotel is basic and tired, not what we expected from a four star. It's a bus ride from the Vatican, the shuttle has limited capacity. The foyer is the best feature.

Short walk from hotel
The small bar at the entrance to the train station is a good place for cool beers and water. There are chinese and pizza takeaways close by. Prices in the hotel are rediculous.

Rome Visit Summer 2012
Its a very good place to stay while in Rome. The only exception is the breakfast, which does not change at all. It may be a norm in this place. The staff are excellent and very helpful.

Travel
If your looking for something close to all the attractions this is NOT the hotel to say in. The pictures in on the website do not truly capture the actual presents of the hotel. You will have to take the metro system or taxi to get down town. Although it is cheap it is inconvenient. There is a 3 Euro a day per person charge for sales tax. The manager was the only helpful person while the other hotel staff were rude, impatient and aggravated that we had questions. I would not recommend this hotel. It is in a residential area that is covered in graffiti. We were advised not to stay out to late do to the location.

Excellent costumer service
We stayed at this Hotel at the end of May for our first trip to Rome. Joseph at the front desk was exceptional and helped us at every turn. From suggestions on the best places to shop to making sure we had a great breakfast before our early morning trip to Florence to helping me with Italian pronounciation. He truly went above and beyond. Also the hotel is tucked away in a quaint neighborhood. Extremely close to the Vatican and public transportation. We were able to shop with locals at the corner market and eat with them at nearby restaurants.

Great Vacation
Hotel Grand Tiberio was the perfect place to relax after a day walking in Rome. It is located in a very safe neighborhhod. Several restaurants and pizzerias are within walking distance and it is very easy to get to the center by bus 990 who stops almost in front of the hotel. The staff is very good and attentive, especially Umberto that went out of his way to help us with a problem we had and made several calls until it was resolved. Umberto is a real asset to Hotel Grand Tiberio. When in Rome we will definitely comeback to this hotel and will recommend it to friends and family.
