Barocco hotel - Rome
This hotel is very average, but it has a central location so we walked all over the city. The rooms are very small, which is common in Europe, and the interior is a bit out dated. AC is on all the time and that is a definite plus in August. Breakfast was very good! If you are making a quick stop in Rome and just want a place to sleep for a night or two, this is not bad. It is pretty cheap.

A great place to stay!
We stayed for 4 nights and had a great experience. The hotel is very clean and rooms are updated and tastefully done. The breakfast is the best we have ever had at a hotel with a large variety of buffet items as well as made to order food. It will certainly please even the pickiest of eaters. The staff was always cheerful and helful. We liked the central location and felt safe day and night. Be careful walking on the marble stairs throughout the hotel as they are highly polished and very slippery in stocking feet.

Comfortable, Good Location
Oct 11-15, 2010 -- While the room was comfortable, it was much smaller than what was depicted in the online photos. Staff was pleasant and helpful, but contrary to reports online, there really isn't a concierge on premises -- just a very helpful desk person(s). Our room faced Piazza Barbierini which made it noisy from day break to late at night. Most places of interest are within walking distance -- 20 minute walk being the furthest. At times, the walk was difficult since it meant strolling down one of the main drags (narrow sidewalks with many pedestrians). We walked to the Coloseum, Forum, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon as well as many of the popular Piazza's including Piazza Novonna. There is a convenient taxi stand across the street for trips beyond walking distance (i.e. going to the Vatican-about 10 euros) Advice: Don't get a room in the front of the building and skip the in-hotel breakfast as it is overpriced. Go across the street to a very nice cafe that serves cereal, omelettes etc for a fraction of the price. We enjoyed Rome very much, but 4 days is plenty of time to see and do every thing you need to (including an entire day at the Vatican sites). Like many Rome hotels, internet service is somewhat expensive. There is an internet/phone "cafe" on the same block, so leave the laptop at home!

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
on the block behind the hotel. Do visit: Rossini Ristorante (via Dei Cappuccini 19) for a great dinner you'll remember for a long time. Ask to dine on the rooftop (weather permitting), you'll love it!

Great Find!!!
The staff and location were great. This hotel was really a hidden gem. Very close to Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. The rooms were spotless. The A/C was less to be desired. We were there in August so it was 90+ degrees. The rooms were warm. That's the only complaint I had. The breakfast that was included was filling and delicious!!!!

Great location
There isn't much room for the traveler with large pieces of luggage to get into the elevator. I have some mobility issues and may have developed some claustophobia upon entering the elevator. Thank goodness our room was on the first level since the elevator was not operating one night we came back to rest. My mother who also has mobility issues was on the second level need I say more. The front desk people were helpful and friendly and once they received all the necessary documents you were given your key. Upon entering the room you notice the musty odor in the room but once you put on the air you tend to forget the odor. The one complaint I do have is the rug was old and I'm sure a big contributor to the musty smell. Another complaint I had was that the hair dryer in the bathroom did not work and was broken. When I informed the front desk they came up and confirmed that "it is broken." I must say that my husband and I did enjoy the breakfast. It was filled with eggs, ham, a good selection of breads, jams, a variety of cheeses and beverages. All in all I guess I would stay at this hotel again if I were ever to return to Rome.

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
Being centrally located we were able to walk to the Fountain of Trevi and Spanish Steps. Unfortunatley it rained our first day there and we were limited as to what we could see. I would say if you really want to see Rome do as the Romans do and get the bus, BUT WATCH YOUR BAGS!!! All in all we had a marvelous time and did our own research on the web and saved some money. Oh if you do plan on going to many different sights in one day and they are not near to one another then buy the all day pass for the metro (4 euros) so you can get on and off for 24 hours. If you just want to visit one place and plan on staying there a good portion of the day then do not buy the all day pass just purchase the one way pass (1 euro). You can purchase passes at the front desk of your hotel.

Enjoyable 1st stay in Rome
First stay in Rome. We had room in newer annex and it was BIG (especially, from what I understand, Rome standards). Sitting room, large bathroom with whirlpool tub and separate shower and bedroom with plenty of room. However, there was a stain on floor near bed - looked like juice stain from really good included breakfast (which included scrambled eggs, cakes, yogurts, cheese, cold cuts and good cappuccino). Anyways, it made me question the cleanliness of the carpet - but otherwise everything else was spotless. Small elevator was in original section of hotel, so needed to go up and down some additional steps to get to our room. Helpful, English speaking staff. Close to Metro and Hop on Hop Off bus. Walking distance to Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. There was some construction noise as they are working on other rooms in the hotel, but only bothered us when we were getting dressed in morning - why would we stay in hotel during the day when in Rome? :-)
