Good Value; Spacious Rooms
This is a nice hotel tucked away in a neighborhood close to Termini station, making it very convenient to get to and from FCO airport. It is not central to Rome's main attractions, so you must be willing to walk quite a bit as the Metro system (located at Termini) has limited coverage of the city. Staff was friendly, polite and accommodating. Our triple room was far more spacious than I expected and located at the back of the hotel, so there was no issue with street noise. Mattresses were firm, but comfortable. My only issue with the bed--and this is not unique to this hotel--is there wasn't a top sheet. It was either the heavy duvet or nothing, so to be comfortable, you had to really lower the temperature in the room. The bathroom was much larger than other bathrooms I've experienced across Europe. It was well stocked with simple toiletries, nice big towels and a hair dryer. Shower door did not stay closed (other reviews mention this) as there was no magnetic closure. We solved this by throwing one of the smaller towels over the top of the door. Housekeeping was very good. We came back every evening to a very clean room and clean towels. Breakfast buffet was fine, but would be improved with some healthier options. They did put out whole pieces of fruit, but the oranges and apples we tried were old. Coffee was not great, but you could ask the staff to make you an espresso drink and they were very accommodating. Free WiFi did not work continuously, logging you out after a relatively short period--a minor inconvenience.

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
Rather than shelling out 15 Euro per person for the train to and from FCO airport, we used Alitalia's bus service, which was only 7 Euro. Takes a little longer, but brings you right to Termini station.

Good base of operations
Augusta Lucilla Palace Hotel is in a great location close to tranportation hub at Termini and to lots of restaurants and shops. It was very clean and offered a decent selection at the breakfast buffet. The staff was friendly and helpful, as well. Room itself was just adequate, with barely enough room to get around the bed when the luggage rack was open, but the bathroom was large and modern. Overall not a bad value for a large European city.

The Hop on, Hop Off bus is a great way to get acquainted with the city. You can get it near Termini station (to the left in front) or around and behind the terminal. Info and tickets can be purchsed in the hotel office or on-line.

Overnight in Rome
Very large room and very comfortable, helpful front desk staff even provided boxed breakfast when we were leaving early. Shuttle to airport from hotel equivalent in cost to train but with much less hassle.

Room change
When we 1st arrived we were given a very tiny room. The air conditioning did not work told us it would work tomorrow. Also WIFI not working. They changed out room and it was a lot bigger and very nice the air worked as did the wifi. Didn't like the charge for local calls. Was not able to reach person I was calling but got a voice recording.

The staff here couldn't do enough to help us enjoy our stay in Rome and really cared about the Hotel and their guests. The buffet breakfast was fantastic and was constantly topped up as the Hotel was full and very busy. We would totally recommend this Hotel!

Would defintely recommned this hotel.
Pros: 1. Perfect location. Was only two blocks from the Metro station which was a great way to see all the sites. 2. Room was clean and up to date and didn't seem to be old. 3. Staff was very helpful with any questions that I had and they spoke very good English. Very polite and respectful. 4. The breakfast was really good and was included in the price. Cons: 1: Internet didn't work well in the room but worked well in the lobby 2. It was kind of hot because they do not turn on the AC expect for in the Summer time and we were there in April which was still considered Winter. 3. The room view was not the greatest but our room did have a balcony although very few rooms did.

We got the three day metro pass for a cheap 16.50 euro which allowed us to ride the metro all over the city and see all the sites, most of which are really close to all the metro stops.

Great hotel for the price
Stayed at this hotel during the first week in March 2013. Great location near Termini Station and within walking distance to most major tourist attractions. Desk staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Plentiful breakfast with usual cold meats, cheeses, scrambled eggs, cereals, rolls, pastries, juices and fresh fruit. Very nice, clean, comfortable rooms. Nicer than I expected. Would stay here again.
