Great Location- Close to Vatican
Hotel Amalia was a perfect distance from the Vatican, about 10 minute walk. Continental breakfast was just enough to get us going in the morning. Rooms were clean, but you need to bring your own shampoo and soap. For the most part the people at the hotel desk spoke English. I speak Italian so it was no problem for me to speak to the one individual who did not speak English. When we went to check out, the young man at the desk told me we needed to pay for the rooms. I indicated to him that the 3 rooms were already paid for. I gave him a copy of our confirmation. Good thing I had it with me. Nice stores in vicinity. Hotel transfers to and from airport were flawless.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Most restaurants have their menus outside. Check prices carefully. Service charges added on bill is not the tip but for the cost of linens and for the waiter to come over and take your order. I would say it's a tip. You are not requiired to leave a tip. Believe me, some of the places soak you on the price. Be Aware.

comfortable accomodations
The management was always friendly and very helpful. I had to make a call to the States and they facilitated it for me. They speak English quite well and were willing to do so when my Italian faltered.

Good value Rome hotel
After extensive research of Rome hotels, this one came out tops for value. Though not in the historic city centre; it is certainly close enough to it for this not to be a disadvantage; in fact, given the noise and pollution surrounding many of the more central hotels (not to mention the grotty accommodation), the location of this one, for me, was preferable. The metro connection close by is a huge advantage. There is also something very special about being close enough to reach St Peter's or the Vatican Museums early enough to beat the hoards of tour groups that hit from mid-morning. The hotel is literally 10 minutes walk from the Vatican. There is no restaurant in the hotel (breakfast only) but this is Rome! Good food is not in short supply elsewhere. Minor issues with torn wallpaper and limescaled shower head (surprising these are not attended to given the ease of rectification). However, overall, friendly, family run and clean. Recommended.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
There are several good value restaurants within walking distance; many of these are frequented by local residents - always a good sign when compared with the more tourist oriented offerings in the city centre.

Pleasant Suprise
I felt for the price and the location, it was a great deal. Especially considering I purchased it at the last minute. The rooms were small but cozy. Would recommend for location and English speaking staff if English is your native tongue.

close to Vatican and metro subway
Mix-up and misinformation given by Orbits sales clerk about the airport shuttle service. She said it was free. They charge you 47 Euros-- not cheap. The Metro subway line is one block away and for one (1) Euro you can go to the central train terminal in 12 minutes(Termini) and catch the train to Fiumicino Airport (28 mins.) for only 11 Euros. Cost of 12 Euros one way to the airport.

Perfect spot for Vatican City
Beautiful room. Hotel is in town directly above a bar/market, with restaurants, ATM, and more markets steps away from entrance. Two blocks from metro, 5 blocks from St. Peter's square: it is ideally located for a Vatican City centered vacation in Rome.

Nice location near The Vatican
I stayed here to attend the Champions League Final at Stadio Olimpico. The hotel is very near to the Stadium so I was able to walk there. Rooms were nice and clean, staff was friendly. Can't think of any negatives about my stay there. I would reccomend it.

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
If you are attending an event at the Stadio Olimpico or want to go to the Vatican, both are within walking distance. The Vatican is only a few minutes walk and the Stadium about 20.
